My dealership sent me a coupon for an oil change & free vehicle inspection. I dropped off my car and an hour later they called me, saying I need new back brakes and rotors & a new air filter. They wanted over $400 for the brakes alone-I told them I was going to hold off. 3 weeks later I take my car to Pep Boys in HB for a free tire rotation and I wanted them to look at my brakes and air filter. They told me my back brakes were fine! I had over 40% left on my rotors-Jimmy from the service department asked me if they squeek or vibrate when I brake, I said no. He also said my air filter wasnt that bad-it could wait till my next oil change. Pep Boys didnt charge me a dime! I walked out of there free & clear. What mechanic shop does that these days? especially to a woman? Its my conclusion that dealerships are suffering poorly in this horrible economy and theyre trying to charge people for unnecessary services. I will always come to Pep Boys from now on everytime Im looking for an HONEST mechanic-something thats extremely rare to find these days.

My car would not start, so since I was near the Pep Boys at Brookhurst and Garfield, so took it there to have it fixed. They replaced the starter in an hour and called me to get my car. So far so good. Then I drive down the street to a grocery store and while Im driving around the parking lot, my car dies. I try to restart it, and it doenst start. So now Im thinking they did a poor job, but I open the hood and look around a bit and find they postivie battery connection is loose. I tighten it, luckily I keep some tools in the trunk, and then it starts back up and runs fine. I can only imagine if my car died in traffic in the middle of the street. Serious damage and injury, and a law suit no doubt. Anyway, is it that hard to check everything you touched before closing the hood? Poor training, or employee, or management,or maybe all three.

Lots of options out there and lots of prices lower to choose from so dont waste youre time here. I brought some rotors here to be turned that measured .985 and were glazed but no gouges. Minimum spec is .960 and the guy comes back and says sorry you need new rotors. When I questioned the specs he changed his mind and apologized. Then he said come back this afternoon I mentioned I had a vehicle waiting and the people said pep boys would cut the rotors while I waited. After he questioned the tech on the time the tech said that he was going to have to take off to much material. Dont get ripped off because you dont understand what they are telling you. Just go somewhere else with integrity in their work and you can trust them.

I came to ask for help with my car, and the tech that can diagnose isnt in again until Tues or weds...I understand .What I truly found disappointing was that I had told Tony that I needed an oil change also.I asked if he would check the level for me.He did. He said " youre low and could add a qt. Buy one and take it home. "I asked if he would add it for me .He said" No:. Okay , then I asked to borrow a funnel. ..he obliged. Just not impressed with his service or lack of .Clearly, he was done for the day, but No matter how late it is at work Ive never not helped a client in need of assistance. It doesnt make me want to come back , there are too many other choices .Why would I return?

This place is terrible!! Not only did I wait 20 minutes to speak to someone about fixing a tire that had a slow leak but when I realized the next day the tire had not been repaired correctly I called and ask about fixing it the guy said sorry cant do it today!!! So let me get this rite not only did u not fix it but you wont fix it today after I have already paid you?? He said "yes sir that correct". Manny Moe and Jack this is why you will soon be out of business. Closing store after store with customer service like this. Never again will I go back. Shame on you for taking a customers money and not fixing it correctly and then refusing to fix it the following day!!

Problem with my truck not being able to go over 15mph. Brought it in for diagnosis and to fix problem and after a week and over $650 they call and say its ready to go. I did not even make it out of the freakin parking lot and discovered it was not fixed! Went back in and the mgr says it must be the exhaust system because that what their diagnosis was. WTF?! Why didnt they tell me that and fix it!?! They then quote over +$800 to replace cadalytic conv. Ridiculously over priced. I went elsewhere for under $400. Mgr did not care and they also wanted over $1000 to do brakes!!! Avoid this place for auto service or any work.

The employees at this Pepboys are very helpful...great customer service. Hector (service manager) is awesome and spent 15 minutes on the phone explaining to me what kind of work was involved with replacing various gaskets and other mechanical info. He and Adam both work hard and call you right back and stick to prices quoted over the phone. Weve had brakes replaced and gaskets replaced and a new clutch installed (always lower prices than most competitors) and have never had any problems with the work done. I highly recommend this Pepboys.

There slogan of do everything for less is true, there process are cheap, but you get what you pay for. Every time they have worked on my car, I have to take it back for something they did wrong. Last time had brakes replaced they didnt tighten the gaurd plate. Had the belts replaced and the belt was not aligned right and rubbing and tearing the belt up. This last time had the brakes done again and they were bit adjusted correctly and my brakes started smoking badly. Just spend a couple more dollars and have it done right the first time.

I called and spoke with someone to check availability on u joints for my drive shaft. he said they had one for the front. I went in to pick it up. a different person was now helping me which was the manager. He looked up the parts and looked at my truck. He said their book was showing both parts were identical. I purchases both u joints pulled drive shaft and pulled old u joints. installed new u joints to find out both were different and both parts I purchased were wrong! complete waste of my time!

Ive heard this isnt the greatest place for auto repair/service, but Ive had a couple oil changes here & it was pretty reasonable. However, the store has a lot of great automotive parts & accessories, so its a cool place to roam around in. However, you can often find products online much cheaper. I bought a bumper & parts for my instrument panel from online companies & saved a ton.
