I have shopped at the Hardware Store for years and always consider shopping here first before the big box stores. In fact, I bought a $500 chain saw there within the last six months. But I wont go back after today. I met my wife there today while picking up some saw blades. We decided to get a bite to eat and left one of our vehicles there in an open parking lot for less than an hour. Returned at 6:12 (they closed at 6:00) and they have called the police and are ready to tow my vehicle because some crazy contraption of a gate they have on their porch has to swing across where my vehicle is parked so that they can lock their porch. Note: this is not a closed parking lot. I was just magically supposed to know that a gate had to swing across where my vehicle was parked. I was met with 3 extremely rude employees who told me to expect a call from the police--as if I were a hardened criminal. I have never had this happen at Lowes. I guess that is where I will shop from now on. I always try to support local businesses, but you cant treat customers this way and expect to keep their business.

We are fortunate to have this store! Its an old fashioned, awesome place to shop for just about anything you might go to the Big Box stores to get. Differences are ... instead of being Huge and impersonal, this store is reasonably sized, wooden floored, and well organized. The folks working there are knowledgable, friendly and helpful. It seems as though they Like working there. Ive purchased quite a few things from The Hardware Store ... a chainsaw, weedeater, power washer, and a lawn mower. They took care of the paperwork for warranties in the checkout process. Quick and efficient... and done! I take my tools back for regular maintenance, as they also have a department for that. Oh, and I love my Case knife I bought there. They have a great selection of knives. I like their cast iron section, too.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The first time I used them they were very quick and helpful. The second time, it took them 2 weeks to tell me I needed a new carborator on my weedeater. They quoted me $120 for a part I can buy on Amazon for $10. When I told them I didnt want them to repair it they charged me $27 for looking at it. I wont be back.

I picked up my mower today, without receiving any service, after waiting more than two weeks for it to be serviced. It is too bad that The Hardware Store provides the worst service when I need my equipment the most. I believe in purchasing equipment where I can get it serviced. I will look elsewhere for my next purchase.

First experience: Chain saw repaired... still didnt work. Later, started getting scag parts there. Never have the basics in stock. Takes 3 or more days to get parts. Glad Im not trying to run a business with my mower.
