I bought a bag of some good looking and somewhat expensive ($4.99 for about 8 small fruits = @3 lb.) tangelo/tangerine type of fruit. I opened one and it was completely desiccated (think dry as in opening an ancient Egyptian sarcophagus). Well, that was a drag and waste of about $.65. But they looked really good so I was certain the next one would be great. Nope. Not as bad as the first one, but definitely inedible and un-eatable (I had to try as we were hitting $1.30 thrown in the trash)! I thought, oh well, Im sure theyd be happy to give me another bag and if that bag is bad, then theyd happily refund my money. I walked in with my bag of "dried fruit" and said to myself "uh-oh" when I saw a sign that said "No Returns Without Receipt" but I figured that had to mean refund and not just a return of a bad product for the same item. I was asked if I had my receipt (I have never in my 46 years saved a grocery store receipt and definitely not for a 3 item grocery store purchase!) and answered "No, but I only want an exchange of product." The cashier said this major event was going to require the advanced skills and super powers of her manager. This task alone took 5 minutes and the waiting lines grew. Finally the manager showed up and was obviously embarrassed about what he was going to have to tell me; that the “policy” was no returns, meaning refunds or exchanges, without a receipt and that he wasn’t accusing me, but that some people would take advantage of returning without a receipt. My wife and I were about to do our two weeks worth of grocery shopping there, but I informed the manager that we would no longer be their customers and walked out immediately. I hope it was worth it to Cox Farms Market to lose my business for that day and the future and the business of all the people I can and will touch, over a $5 bag of oranges for which they probably paid $3.

I visited the market on Saturday, July 9th about 9:15am in search of green tomatoes and they had some, however, in between picking a few out...I heard the cashier as a gentleman a question and he just went off! he was yelling at her about how she and why she keeps asking him that (I am not really clear on what she was asking him). There were a few customers in the store, but his behavior was so uncalled for, unprofessional and down right rude. The cashier was older than him and it just bothers me to see someone in management speak to anyone in that manner as if that person is BENEATH you! I truly doubt it if I even shop in there again, I do plan to get his name and also write the Better Business Bureau because that bothered me. I dare my son to speak to anyone the way he spoke to her. As I checked out...I asked who was the Manager and she pointed to him (a different cashier, not the lady he was yelling at) and I made a comment to her about his actions and advised her I would be going on to this website. This incident was ridiculous and there was a better way to handle it. You are a very rude Manager Sir and I hope you dont get too far in life with that attitude! Sorry, I hope they can get a better Manager

Unfortunately I discovered Cox Farms late in my lease, and I am now moving. Cox is a decent little organic grocer, and you should be able to find almost anything you need from larger stores like Sprouts or Central Market. Large stores have "sale" prices lower than Cox, but regular prices tend to be better at Cox. I really enjoy their selection of Amys products, and cheese products and substitutes are great also. The only problem really is trying to leave the parking lot onto Main Street.

Just like a mini "whole foods". They have everything that whole foods has, but less quantity. For instance, they may have 4-5 boxes of one type of cereal instead of 30 boxes (like whole foods). So the selection is the same, but the store is smaller! Great prices, fantastic staff, excellent produce... Owned by a local business owner and not a big corporate thing. IN a world of copies, here is an original. Cox farms is great! Try it!
