I am mortified to say the least! I try to support local small businesses as much as possible! However, I JUST got off the phone with this store. I was recommended here by another friend who has children my sons age. A week ago, I first tried to contact this store due to my 11 yr old outgrowing his bicycles at the rate of approximately one per year (give or take) and we promised him one for his birthday. I would like to make sure we buy the correct size so I first called the store a week ago and received voicemail. I could not leave a message due to "the voicemail box being full." On the website it states you need to "schedule an appointment for a fitting" so I filled out the form for my son to have a "fitting" not having any idea this did not mean to measure him and get fitted for the correct size bicycle. I waited a week with no response after a week, I called again this afternoon. Apparently I interrupted the guy working there by calling! I was treated so rudely over the phone! The guy (sounded older) literally yelled at me, interrupting me and not allowing me to fully complete any question. When I simply said, " I went to the website and filled out..." he interrupted me, became irate and literally yelled at me saying, "you shouldnt have filled out the form, you dont need a fitting, you need something else (like I should know this AND he never did tell me what I needed) when he stopped yelling, he huffed like I was a "bother" because I was trying to spend money in his shop and with a flippant attitude instructed me to just "bring your kid in sometime!" When I again tried to ask about the online form I filled out he interrupted me and yelled , "most likely no one even read your email!" (His attitude was like, your just a stupid mom and arent going to spend enough money for me to waste my time and breath on!) Needless to say, I WONT be stepping foot in this place after the way I was treated! Also, I would NEVER take my 11 yr old in and allow this rude, rude man to also treat him like dirt! This guy got so ugly (and loud) simply by a phone call that I am thinking maybe dealing with the public isnt the best fit for him! Its disgusting how trying to support local small businesses can bite you on the backside and almost make you feel forced to go to large chain stores just to be treated with a little respect even if you have to sacrifice keeping the small businesses alive. Apparently this store could care less!

I am making the switch to a 29er and have been to several shops in the N. Scottsdale area checking out the different brands in person. Today on my lunch hour, I decided to swing in the BR to take a look at what they had in stock. I walk in the door, and dont see anyone. No biggie I guess. I worked in a shop for 5 years back in the Midwest and most of the staff are working on repairs during the daytime. I figure when theyre done with the der. adjustment, theyll come over and greet me and see if I have any questions. Im there for at least a couple of minutes and see someone toward the back of the shop come out, but he stops mid-way at a clothing rack and walks back to the rear of the shop. Odd, but OK...maybe they are super busy. Keep in mind, that at this point, nobody has acknowledged my presence. I continue to check out components on some of the bikes when an older gentleman walks out to the cash register and mulls around a little bit. I decide to walk towards the front where some sale bikes are to see if that would elicit some sort of acknowledgement. Im checking out a full carbon Tomac and he walks out from behind the counter heads toward me and then fiddles with the front door. He is now 2ft from me and says nothing. No "Hello"; No "Can I help you with something?"; nothing...zip...nada. At this point, Im more confused than angered. I give it one more shot and head over towards the road bikes, but nothing. He just continues to munch on his Clif bar. By now, Id had enough of this little dance and decided to leave. The thought of spewing some pithy remark as I walked out did cross my mind, but I didnt want to ruin the silent streak I had going with either of the two shop employees that had made eye contact with me. I even thought of calling them when I got back to the office, but then again, that would have broken the non-verbal streak we had going and I wasnt going to give up on that. Therefore, I decided to write a little review of my personal experience with Bicycle Ranch of Scottsdale. Keep in mind, that nowhere in my review have I launched into any personal indictments of the staff or their products, but just simply recounted my own experience this afternoon. My advice to anyone looking for a bike...or even a half-hearted Hello, would be to save some time and shop at some of the other shops in the area.

Dear folks: I am not one to ever write reviews, good or bad. Please keep in mind, I am a law student and am very rational when dealing with conflict. I was so appalled at the treatment I received today, I will never enter the store again, and will warn all my friends and family of the level of rudeness I witnessed. This is a warning to all who read: If you have the choice of picking another place to spend money on bikes, equipment, etc., please consider what happened to me today. I have lived across the street for 20 yrs or so, so it is most convenient to shop here. However, upon entering the store to purchase a $30 dollar bike pump, I have never been treated so poorly in any consumer circumstance. I brought the pump to the counter only to be ignored as the grey bearded man would not look up from his computer until I said "hey, hows it going?" he snatched the pump, rang it up, and merely grumbled under his breath, "something something ninety-nine" (in an unclear british accent). which to me sounded like 52.99, for a pump clearly labeled $30.00 even. Confused, I went on to say, "oh, but it says 30 on the price tag." He then gave me a look as if he were going to kill me, and grumbled the price at me again in a lower and sarcastically slower tone, as if I were hard of hearing (im 24 yrs old, hearing is fine). He then went on to explain to me in a sarcastic tone about how there is a $2.59 sales tax. At this point I realized that with tax the total was 32.59 and that was the price he was trying to communicate to me. So, nicely I reply "oh, I thought you were saying 52.99" and I let out a chuckle to lighten the high tension atmosphere he had created. He grabbed my credit card from my hand in the quickest manner Ive ever seen, swiped it, and handed it back to me as if it were contaminated with a rare disease that he wish not to catch. After the sale went thru he immidiately went back to looking at his computer screen until I asked to please have a bag to put it in, in which he then reached behind him as if it were the biggest chore ever and handed me the bag in the most unprofessional and immature manner I have ever seen. The sales receipt reads salesperson: JG. I hope the manager reads this review and sits down to have a little chat with JG about what it means to have customer service in the USA. That is all.
