A good variety of specialty, exotic OVERPRICED animals. Pros: Only one guy seems to know his stuff, Matt I think, but he is extremely knowledgeable, especially in reptiles. As far as tropical fish go, (my specialty), he has given advice I disagree with, but overall he is very good. Good selection. Lots of "rare" fish, for La Crosse anyways. Cons: Rude. Ive caught employees making up information when they should have just said, "I dont know." And did I say it? OVERPRICED. They will ask you three times as much for stuff at other stores, including Old Town North, which will have, or can get, the same exotics you cant find at PetSmart. Ie, Geophagus sp., Apistogramma sp. Horrible customer service in general. My mother tried special ordering stuff for her pond, she gave up after the luckluster and incompetent performance of this store. Ive found myself wondering if they are high when I come in sometimes. Overall: If you want to speak to a competent person about an exotic animal, Matt is probably one of the best you can get in the area (I think he is president of the Western Wisconsin Herpotological Society). If youre a novice who comes in who has an exotic or wants to buy one, you will be insulted. (A turtle is included in this area.) I trust Marineland to special order a hard to find animal, but I would be prepared to pay a lot more than its worth, and I would only work with Matt. Overall, only one member of the staff is worth talking to about pet care, and I would probably be more likely to mail order livestock myself than pay their prices.

Marineland lost our business forever, we will never be returning. We have been returning customers for a couple years now. Owner talked us into buying a $50 light bulb with a warranty on it for our reptile with reasurrance it would last longer than other bulbs. We were concerned with spending 50 dollars on a bulb to have it only last a couple months. The bulb blew up on me last week and we didnt have a chance to get there until yesterday, due to the fact that we both work everyday of the week and live 35 minutes away. When buying the bulb we were told there was a warranty and we needed to save the receipt and box in order for it to be honored. I did exactly that. When I went to return it with for the warranty, I was told that they couldnt honor it because it was a few days over the 90 day warranty and that they would have to do this for everyone if they did it for me. They told me I would have to go to the company that makes the bulb to try to get a new one. So glad I bought a $50 bulb that lasted me 3 months when I couldve bought a $14 bulb that could last the same amount if not longer. Glad they could swindle us enough to make more money for their business.

I bought a light fixture from here with the reassurance that they stand behind what the sold. About a month later, I noticed that the light was not as bright as it was when I first purchased it and brought it back to see if they could help. As I was talking to the person who sold me the light, his only words were "Im not a technician. I cant tell you whats wrong with it.", which is fine, but it gets better. I explained that I didnt know if it was a bad bulb or if the fixture itself was bad, and I didnt want to pay $20 for the light only to have it go bad in 30 days. I was hoping that they would have offer me a replacement bulb to try at their expense. The gesture would have made me feel good about my purchase and would show that they stand behind what they sell. Instead, I got accused of changing out one of the bulbs with a bad one. Thats when I told the guy, Im going somewhere else to buy the bulb, which I found for nearly half the price at Olde Towne North Pets. I dont know about the quality of the pets, but after the experience I had, I would be very cautious about purchasing anything from this store.

I just recently discovered Marineland and am thoroughly satisfied with the quality knowledge and service they have provided me. Im a first time lizard buyer and I have been assured that I am getting all the correct necessary supplies and that I need and the staff is just really knowledgeable from their own experience as pet owners which in my opinion is key. I suggest them for any reptile needs and other pet supplies. Thank you marineland!

The place smells like an aquarium shop, because it is one. They can acquire any legal specie you can imagine. Personally its too far out of my way, but they have a good selection of tropical fish, corals, & reptiles. And they also have a nice spread of different tanks and terreriums on the back left wall. I went there to get some goggles from the literal Diving Gear Dept.

Great place to pick out quality fish and other animals with a great price. the people are great to answer questions as well great to answer any question that my kids would ask also explaining everything to them as well. when selecting fish on this last visit was easy to pick due to large selection and they explained what fish would go together and look great.

The staff is always friendly and helpful and is quick to offer suggestions for best fish to add in a tank. They also take time to understand where you are on the experience level and take that in to account.

They have a nice selection of pets; fish, birds, lizzards, ect. Their knowledge dwarfs any of the big chain pet stores. It does seem to be in need of some fixing up.
