As a repeat customer for well over 10 years I can honestly say the the previous poster is more than a little clueless. Everytime I am in there someone is cleaning/feeding something. Anyone with any common sense let alone experience with small mammals would realize that if the situation was as the previous poster would have you believe the rodent cages would look literally like a pig pen if left unattended for more than a day or two, given the fequency of their bodily functions. Here again from experience with keeping a number of large constrictors a single rat can stink up its carrying container in the time it takes to drive the 2 miles from the store to my house, let alone having 10-20 at any given time Not once have I been in there and seen the cages anything but clean and dry, the mammals all have shiny coats and bright eyes. Not something you will find in poorly maintained habitats. Good luck finding the selection, quality, or prices with any of the other pet stores in La Crosse. As to the owners attitude, Ill give you that I have seen him get surly on a number of occasions, every one of them has been when some dimwitted customer has become belligerent over him not selling them a specific animal, either becasue they do not have a bug enough enclosure or some other basic basic requirement for keeping it.

I have always had a great time visiting the store. The owner has always been polite and helpful. I have gotten a fair amount of animals there. They are still very happy and healthy as of today. He dose take care of the animals. Olde towne north pets is the only store I know of that has animals the give birth on a regular bases. so if you are saying that the store is bad and filthy then way is he producing live babies and it is clean on a regular bases because I have seen it. To me the store is a lot better then some other pet stores I been in!!!!

Matt is very knowledgable when it comes to anything to do with a fresh or saltwater aquarium. He has been in the hobby for a long time and is more than happy to help people expand their knowledge. I highly recommend taking his advice, but always do your own research. If you come in saying you want to start a saltwater aquarium tomorrow and add fish and corals tomorrow, he probably will tell you to do some research before selling you everything. Saving you hundreds of dollars if not more!

WORST SERVICE AND CLEANLINESS OF ANY STORE I HAVE EVER BEEN IN. The owner is a complete jerk, if you ask him a question he doesnt like he freaks out and begins an elaborate ramble of foul language and insults. He does not take good care of his animals, having the caged animals to live in their own feces and urine indefinitely - not to mention that the whole store reeks of urine. The horrible conditions may be forgivable or fixable, but the owners horrible attitude certainly is not.

I went in to see if he wanted to buy a new LED light I had that I wasnt going to use anymore. He said he would buy it for $75 - great. When I went in to get the money he screamed at me and said how the light bleached his corals. But yet he wouldnt give the light back or wouldnt give me my $75. Every time I went in for the money or light back he just screamed and freaked out. This guy is nuts and his animals are not taken care of. Ask anyone in the marine hobby. Dont go there.

If i could give no stars i would walked in to get screamed at by the owner if they were not open the sign shouldnt of been on and the door shouldnt of been unlocked Im sorry but dont scream at me in front of my daughter i thought that was rude and unprofessional Ill never ever be in his store again or recommend to anyone I understand he had stuff out bit that is something that he could of talked to us about not screamed very very unhappy

I called in to ask if they carried any tree frogs or the like. I was just wondering. The guy on the phone was very impolite. He said "no I dont carry those its too cold to be getting any." He was in a hurry to get off and almost ended the phone call. I asked him when he expected to get some and he said in a very rude manner "not for at least 2 months so no I dont have any." Wont ever be visiting.

Went in to buy some fish for a fish tank I set up. The front door didnt open all the way and the owner wouldnt even move from his chair behind the counter. He then refused to sell me fish because I didnt use the product that he sold there before putting in the fish. He lost a sale and I lost the chance to support a local business.

Gave my friend the wrong advice and Got very rude when I was asking my own questions about pets. This guy can be extremely condescending and will yell out of his door at you if he disagrees with you. I always try to buy locally but in this case I would stay away because the owner is extremely impolite.

Very clean and neat shop wonderful store dog. Super nice, knows what hes talking about. Easy to have a fun conversation with. I would give ten plus stars if I could. Repeat business for sure. Prices are amazing for healthy and happy animals also very clean.

The important thing is the state of the animals. This place is not much to look at. The building is old and run down and the store itself is rather disorganized, but the animals dont seem to mind. They are all very healthy and well kept.

Couldnt tell you about the actual store. He immediately hollered for my kids to get out and he didnt do retail anymore. Get a warehouse shop, guy. Youre in a retail space.
