I use to love this store and was willing to pay a little higher price for items to get customer service. Now time I put items in my cart, unload my cart onto conveyor belt, have to load sacked groceries back into cart (use to have sackers - guess they gave that up), push the cart to the car, unload the cart into my car, unload into my house and then put away....its a days job. Not to mention standing in line for 15 or more minutes because they only use 1 checker. And may the forces be with you if that one checker is Vince (who has to take a sip of water and stare into space after scanning every 5th item). They do have a couple fantastic checkers, but they seem to put them to doing other stuff. A year ago it would have been 5 stars. p.s. watch your receipts, sale prices and coupons loaded dont always "take", especially the by 1 get 1 free.

Every time I go there is a problem. I just came back from the store and I will never step foot back in Tom Thumb again!!! The worst customer service I have every.... I mean every received. The asst. grocery manager help me check out. His name tag said he has been a valued employee since 2000. In my opinion 13 years too long. I was buying 4 items that were advertised in there flyer, not a huge transaction. I was told I could only use 3 coupons for the 3 items I was buying. I have never in my life heard of something ridiculous. So I said I want 2 transactions and that blew his mind. To top it off we wouldnt give me the advertised flyer price. Dont you worry big guy, Ill be seeing the manager in the morning. And Ill make sure that the neighborhood association facebook page gets a good post warning the 750 homes to stay clear.

My wife goes in here and fills out a card requesting pickles that are available at other local Tom Thumbs. The people at the customer service desk said she would be called within 2 business days. A month later, and shes still waiting. I wanted some sausage that is available at Austin area Tom Thumbs and Randalls. So, learning from my wifes experience, I decide to go in and request it directly from the manager. Hes called to the customer service desk to speak with me. When he arrives, he is visibly agitated, and he proceeds to be quite rude. He tells me he will check on it and call me the next day. Three days pass, so I call HIM. Guess what? Yep, you guessed it; he cant get it. Its not even in Tom Thumbs computer system - Thats odd since Its readily available at all Austin area stores.

So happy theyre back! Back several years after the government forced its sale during the Albertsons merger (why did we have to go through this exercise again?) its great having our local neighborhood grocery back. Back with them is a clean attractive store, helpful employees, high quality produce, meats, and reasonable prices. Just in time, too, because the other area grocery mega-chain, Krogers, has become ridiculously bad.

Re-opened in May 2017, its back to the same clean and easy to shop format it was before the regulatory fiasco and the sale to Minyards. Theyve updated some cosmetic type things around the store and added some nice features like full time sushi, build your own pizza and a local market sports type T-shirt shop. Great selection of take and go pre- cooked stuff.

I guess I have been lucky - I have never had the issues the other posters have had. I buy all my meat at Tom Thumb and I love their Pharmacy - they often go out of their way to cover when our mail order pharmacy messes up. We moved last summer to the north edge of McKinney but Tom Thumb is still my store!

Tom Thumb went away and came back. Looking at their flyer tonight they have better prices and Market Street on many items that are both in the flyer. Very competitive marketing going on here in McKinney right now

Every time I walk into this store people are extremely helpful and kind. Ever since the remodeling service there has only improved. Plus beer is always cheaper than anywhere else with your club card.

Only had 2 check out lanes opened at first and customers lined up waiting. A customer had to go the the customer service desk and ask that they open more lanes. Not good.

They are getting ready to close this location or have just given up. Tom Thumb was the place to get groceries but theyve chosen to forget the recipe.

So nice to have a grocery store just down the street again. Definitely have to shop the ads to be comparable to other grocery stores.
