I special ordered a golden oak slab door and requested all hinges and door knob to be cut at exact measurement of my old door that i got from this exact same location. They told me they would be able to follow through with my request. I ordered the part on tuesday and recieved the door on thursday. Got a call at 9am notified that my door was ready for pick up. I arrived at 4pm only to find out my door wasnt even touched. I was given a time frame that my door would be finished upon arrival for friday. But given it came early on thursday and was given a call that it was complete and ready i didnt expect to be upheld. I spoke with a manager within the popworkshop and he claimed theres no one that can complete the work because the carpenter was out on vacation for another week. Like are you kidding me ?! Why would an employee/manager be under the workshop department if he cant even work on anything himself? Makes no sense. From there he claimed he cant do anything about it and then 10 min later proceeded to say he will work on it when his employees get off their lunch. So now im questioning, what happen to the man on vacation? Im highly disappointed in the managers customer services. If you are gonna open the workshop department you should have someone available at all times, otherwise dont offer your services which results in wasting my time as well as future customers. I will definetly recommend a different mclendon location. This one has useless employees and no skill background to backup mclendons offered services.

I never dreamed that there could be a hardware store with employees so proactive, so knowledgeable, and so pleasant to be around. and the price difference between mclendon and others (h depot and lowes) is barely noticeable. Ive found my new home improvement store and Im here to stay. I actually feel like I have access to expert opinions when I walk in to the store. It makes me excited, instead of nervous to start new projects. Peter the German associate is my go-to guy for any landscaping and lawn related issues. Incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He spend 45 minutes with me brainstorming what to do next with our yard! If you need help on your yard ask for Peter. Kudos to Peter and 5 stars for the store.

I went to Mc Clendon Hardware to get items for demolition and mold cleanup.An employee took me around to help me find every item I needed .Eventhopugh his area of expertise was in the Paint Department.Thank You!!! Unlike other "Hardware Stores" you can actualyy get knowledgable help. I bet a lot of people dont that Mc Clendon actualyy hires their employees that have worked in the Construction Industry.Example Piant Department Employee worked as a Painter for 6 years..Same goes for Electrical,Plumbing and other Departments. Want to get Knowledgable Help go HERE. Dont even waste your time on the other stores.!!!!!

Home Depot was the place in the 80s and 90s with a huge product line for contractors and the DIYers. The store was filled with knowledgeable helpful associates. Now they are discontinuing product at an alarming rate plus the knowledge is all but gone. I went to McLendons Tacoma a couple days ago to find the products I needed, knowledgeable staff and an associate who showed where each item was in their store. Not just "it is on isle 6" "or my favorite HD line "We have never carried that before". Meclendons has followed the model of Bernie and Arthur who launched Home Depot with very noticeable results.

Needed a shelf for my studio to fit in the cabinet above my stove where an air vent was installed. I made a cardboard pattern that allowed for the air vent. Took it to McClendon in Tacoma where they helped me choose a shelf close to the size I needed, then they use my pattern to trim it to fit my space. It fit beautifully! Awesome experience! The store itself is like going on a treasure hunt for all things cool for my apartment and patio. And shelves were fully stocked!!!! Unlike other big box DIY stores Ive visited. Also prices were great and competitive!

I bought a floor model gas grill unknowingly without an ignitor switch. I go to light the grill entertaining multiple friends on the 4th of July and nothing happens. I go back to the store to get the ignitor switch. They tell me that its on order and the floor model was supposed to be pulled from the floor. The reason I go to mclendons is because of the customer service compared to Lowes and Home Depot. It must have been an off day because the staff seemed to not care. I really liked this place until today. Bad customer service on the 4th of July.

I bought one of those expanding hoses there last year. It was a very expensive hose with a lifetime warranty. Within one year it started falling apart and leaking profusely. I took it back to the store and was told I would have to write to the manufacturer. I think if you sell a product you should stand behind it. From now on I will make these kind of purchases at Costco where they do stand behind what they sell.

Ive adored this old fashioned hardware store since I discovered it two years ago!! Every time I need something I go here first, then price check and grab the credit card the next day to make my purchase. Ive never been disappointed or pressured! Thats great for lady DIYers! Love, love, love the nursery and recommend it to all my friends. Their nursery guy Tim is the BEST....he is so helpful and orders lots of cool plants that you dont see in other stores and is always more than willing to share his vast knowledge. He definitely keeps the customers coming back. McLendons better watch out before someone steals him away.

Awesome service... And a seemingly more handpicked and thoughtful -- and certainly better presented -- inventory than big orange or big blue. Also, the rescreening service is awesome! Who else does that? And does it as such an affordable price. I love McClendons. Go local.

The store is packed with wonderful stuff, the employees are very helpful, the location is easy to find, and the prices are reasonable. Only drawback is the loud distracting music playing over the PA system.
