I have been a longtime customer of the Battle Ground Ace Hardware. I went in to inquire about getting my Stihl FS 38 trimmer repaired. I spoke with a guy who explained the $30, 30-point inspection. He explained that if there was any parts needed that I would be called and I would have to authorize further expense. I asked him what the usual problem was, and he explained the carburetors often need to be replaced. Knowing my equipment was old and I figured it was likely the carb, he quoted $30 price for that. I said, lets just do the carb, no 30-point inspection. He says basically it does not work that way, I need to do the 30-point, and then I will get called if there is any further cost. OK. I asked him how long it would take and he says "were pretty backed up, at least a week". So I figure I will drop it off on my way out of town. I drop it off Thursday morning. The next day, Friday, I get a voicemail that says my equipment is ready for pickup. So, I am pleased, assuming my equipment was an easy fix and its only going to cost me $30 + tax. When I get back in town, I head in to Battle Ground ACE Hardware and get a bill for $69.32. They decided not to call and authorize the new carb, bummer, because instead of paying for repairs totaling more then half the cost of a new FS-38, I would have just bought a new unit. This may have been an oversight, but I cant see how, because I was dealing with the same ACE employee from start to finish. And he was very adamant that I would get a phone call to authorize charges. Too bad, he wouldnt just let me buy the carb in the first place...I will not be back.

Very friendly, elderly employees. That makes for a pleasant experience. However, if you need paint, go somewhere else! I would like to support my local hardware store and their location is convenient BUT the employees dont know how to use the paint machine! They dont know how to locate colors on the wall! Mind you, I have bought paint here three times. I have only gone back, in hopes that my previous experience was just a coincidence. Not so. On one trip, that older lady helping me, thought that everything was a joke and that she couldnt get the paint the correct color was hilarious! Not professional at all. I will now drive 10 miles across town to try a different Ace hardware.

As I walked through the door today l was met by a pleasant, helpful gentleman who pointed out the aisle that carried the product I needed. However the gentleman stocking the shelves there was completely the opposite -unfriendly and unhelpful. He sounded so exasperated with my questions that I felt I had to apologize for being unfamiliar with my purchases. That was met with a blank stare. So, not sure what I did to get under this guys skin but he acted like I was an intruder not a paying customer.

I went there to get copies of my car key made and when I went to test them, one of them got stuck in the ignition. They called a locksmith out at their expense and refunded all 3 of our keys and paid for the locksmith to make us 3 keys. We only spent $10 on the keys(that was all refunded though) and they covered 100% of what the locksmith charged which was about $150. Will definitely go back!!!!

5 star service from their helpful employees every visit! No hassle returns, because lets face it....sometimes it takes 2-3 trips to ACE to get the right parts to complete the job. :)
