Today, with two feet of snow approaching I went to Ace Hardware to purchase a second snow shovel. As I parked, customer after customer was leaving the store with shovels in hand. When I went inside, there was a line of about 12 - 15 people waiting to pay for shovels they were purchasing. I followed a woman to the back of the first level of the store and in the corner there were at least 15-20 boxes of shovels, some open with shovels laying on top of the pile of boxes. The customer grabbed a shovel off the top and walked around the corner to get in line to pay. I reached up and grabbed one also. As I started to approach the line a store employee RUDELY told me that I could not have it; that they had all been promised. In my shock and amazement, I put the shovel back in the pile. As I was walking to leave and as I passed the woman, I said "You are very lucky. He would not let me purchase one." She said that they had a wait list from earlier that morning and that more shovels would be arriving within an hour or two. Now I ask! If more shovels were arriving shortly, WHY DID MANAGEMENT NOT let arriving customers purchase a stockpile of what I estimated as 100 - 150 shovels? VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I will not shop at the store again. I have posted this story to Facebook, the Better Business Bureau and will write a letter to the FTC. I went to Home Depot, Walmart and Target, plus calling BJs Wholesale Club. No shovels! Old Town Ace Hardware coulda helped an old guy out!!

I went in for new screws on my license plate and I was helped immediately to find the right ones. When I tried them on my car they were just an imperceptible amount too big and an employee happened to be walking by and he went back in to the store and came back with new ones that fit. That in itself would be worth a great review, but Bob also had me pull around to the back of the store and worked with me for almost half an hour trying to get out a rusted screw. Pliers, vice grips, and finally using three different drill bits, he was able to drill through the old screw and get the new one in for me. I have never had as good a service anywhere. I could have spent hundreds of dollars and hours of my time at a mechanics, but instead I got great service and fixed great for about $2. The store was also orderly, way bigger than it looks from the outside, and had as much variety as I have ever needed in a hardware store. I cant recommend this place enough.

Staff: Super friendly. Always willing to help. They say hi to you when you walk in. They pet your dogs! These people are friendly and know how to be friendly. I once needed something they didnt have and they not only suggested a place for me to go to get it, but they called ahead for me! Selection, its a bit limited, but that item i needed was propane (bobby). They dont have the license for it, so they cant sell it, but theyll advise you go down the road a bit and swap it out at the Exxon (i think thats what it was...anyways). Prices are fair, but again, the selection can be limited. I needed a drill bit once and had to go to amazon. I wanted to shop local, but eh, what can you do. Also have a small section by the front door thats a lot of off the wall things, like cards, toys, gifts, etc. Totally worth a little look around for an impulse buy ;P

I live right down the street and shop here often. The people there are the most helpful Ive ever met in a retail environment. I used to think hardware stores were good for home improvement projects or specialized items - but now I even shop here for staples like paper towels, trash bags and other small tickets items. Their prices are equal to and sometimes even better than Target. But I really cant even begin to describe how helpful they are. Great place.

Went in almost by accident and was thrilled to find well furnished store with sensible and helpful staff. Has 2 floors. great advice and products for my deck sealing project. Next time there my wife bought rocking chair (she loves) and she was told itv would be assembled by the next day--but they called in a few hours and she picked it up. Parking garage behind store. its great to have the convenience of a real hardware store nearby. Long hours.

Very well stocked, clean store, and friendly helpful people! Also the free popcorn is for real. I went on a Friday and the cashier said that they usually only have it on the weekends, but I still nabbed a bag. :) I went to get some keys made, and had interactions with 3 or 4 of their employees (they just asked to help, but not in an imposing way).

This place has almost everything you could ever need from one of the big home improvement stores. The difference: at ACE, the friendly staff actually know where everything is! I have purchased everything from lightbulbs to grilling supplies at this store, and all the products are of good quality. They also have a phenomenal paint department.

I live around the corner and pop in frequently for odds and ends. The staff could not be more helpful, always greeting you as you walk in and when you venture to the second floor. It feels like a friends are showing you where to find things.
