Whew...what a store! You know how you can spend half an hour walking around Lowes or Home Depot trying to FIND an employee just to find where the product might be located? Not so at this Ace. Often the employees are lined up at the front door waiting to be your personal shopping assistant when you come in. Dont worry about any nominally higher prices (Ive found plenty that were lower) just relish the fact you can get in there, be given a personal tour to exactly what you are looking for, and then get checked out---all in under 5-10 minutes. You spend that much time in the check out lines at the big stores. This place is a true gem. I met the owner one day and you can see why he has such knowledgeable and friendly employees. I rave enough about the place that my wife thinks Im off to see a mistress when I tell her Im going to Ace. She couldnt give a rip if I tell her Im going to Lowes.

Its on the way home and on the way to the marina, but I have found the prices to be a bit high. I needed a couple of caster wheels last week, they had them but for $7.99. I thought it was a bit much so I checked my local Dunn Lumber and the exact same item was $2.25. The difference when you buy 2 of them adds up.. I had the same issue for a replacement shower water control valve, $50 here and $17.95 if I looked around. I guess if you need it now and you arent close to another hardware store its an option but for me I will only use it for items I know the price on. The staff is fine, they seem to know where stuff is and know the names of things you cant seem to remember. But I thought they were a bit overstaffed (for a Tuesday there had to be 8+ people staffed in a small store).. maybe thats a good thing or maybe that keeps the prices high.

Elitist attitude! Tried to return a BRAND NEW, UNUSED Ace Hardware brand product and was told that since I dont have a receipt, paid cash for it, and they they cant find it in their computer, they are unwilling to do anything and that each individual store is privately owned. So basically they can do whatever the hell they want! Unfortunately they force me to shop at larger corporate companies with a more liberal return policy, like Walmart. Thanks for forcing me to do the wrong thing! Over your product that is less than $30 total! Sorry guys, I cant condone this Behavior. It only encourages companies like yourself and others to continue making life harder for the individual while adding a few greedy corporate pockets.

You know when a small task becomes a huge pain? I had a stolen license plate. They also took the hardware, so after waiting in line at the DMV to get new plates and waiting on hold to report the plate stolen, I had to go figure out what size screw I needed to install my new plate without having one to reference. Guy came out to my car to look at it with me, then found the right screws and actually put the plate on for me. It was only a few minutes of time, but after the day I had, it was such a wonderful favor! They are always super helpful and knowledgeable, and this above and beyond service just reinforces why I go there for all my hardware needs.

The service is amazing at this store, but nothing can justify the super-inflated prices. I only shop here when I need a small item and cant justify driving to Home Depot or Lowes. The product that finally caused me to write this review was some drywall tape that was $14 at this Ace, but available for $8 at Home Depot. Unfortunately, the 75% increase in price is pretty typical. Their prices on bags of sand and concrete are even more outrageous. Shop here if youre looking for advice on a special project, because they really know whats up. If prices are a concern, youre going to have to go to a bigger store over on Aurora.

Only been here a few times as I dont have lots of hardware needs, but I was impressed with the staffs knowledge and friendliness. Thats very important for someone who knows next to nothing about hardware. Some stores will have staff that only know how to operate the register (not helpful.) And other places will have knowledgeable staff that will put you down and treat you like an idiot for asking questions (also not helpful.) Thankfully Ive never had either problem here. Are things more expensive here? I wouldnt know, but its worth paying extra for great service.

While not the largest or cheapest hardware store, it is one of my favorites. The first thing I notice is the incredibly helpful and diverse staff waiting up from to help you. Its not just a bunch of old grumpy men that dont want to be bothered. They usually have what I need, and have even had a few obscure items I could not find elsewhere, and at a good price (oxalic acid). I recommend this hardware store. I give 4 instead of 5 stars only because it is an ACE, which means they have a bit less selection of brands.

I have had a couple bad experiences with one employee in the paint department. The other staff in the department seem nice. The first time this overly helpful employee would NOT leave me alone to think about my paint colors and kept giving me "advice". The second time, well it was worse and I walked out. Overall the store is usually a bit more pricey than the big hardware stores but I had been going there for smaller stuff because it was close. Im not sure if I will shop there again.

Maple Lead Ace a superior local choice among North Seattleites! Their commitment to their neighborhood, employees and service goes above and beyond any box store you would visit. They have most everything a homeowner would need for household jobs. Plus, you are able to bring your dog in with you... any business that is dog friendly is a friend of mine! I love coming in to meet with the friendly staff and pick up needed items.

This place is great. They have tons of employees to help you, never have big lines, and are super friendly. Its a real neighborhood hardware store. That being said, they dont have as wide of variety of everything, but its great for most things. Also going to HD to Lowes is like a major event--10 trillion people... loud... this is definitely not like that. Great neighborhood place.

The staff at Maple Leaf Ace are very helpful and really know what theyre talking about. For a smaller store (compared to large chain stores such as Lowes/Home Depot), they have a remarkably good selection, especially for environmentally sensitive products. I love the Mythic (no VOC) paint - it smells like Elmers glue when wet instead of the typical paint smell.

Im a long time HD shopper, but I found this place a few years ago and its now my favourite hardware store hands down. Always well staffed, good selection of what you need, friendly knowledgeable folks. HD cant touch these guys. If you need 300 sheets of drywall, go to the big box stores. If you need anything else, come see these folks. You wont regret it.
