I Would like to share my experience with the At home service from Homedepot getting a sliding glass patio door installed. I went into homedepot to get an estimate on how much it would cost to get a new patio door installed. An employee helped me to the area and tried to find someone in the door department to assist me. With no luck, she entered my information into the system as best she could to set up an appointment for someone to come to my house for an estimate. After about 4 days passed and no response from homedepot I called the store. Its turns out I wasn’t in the system. No biggie, the woman tried to help even though she wasn’t familiar with the area/system. After getting into the system correctly homedepot finally came to my house. Joe (not real employee name) came by and gave me an estimate for the patio door install. I told him that I would need to think about it overnight since it would cost $2,200. I called the next day and left a message telling Joe I wanted to go ahead and get the door. Another 3 days go by with no call back from joe, so I call him again. He didn’t answer, so I called the 800-homedepot number. Operator Steve (not his real name) answered and was able to “pull some strings” and Joe is now coming by in 3 days to finalize the install. Joe came back to my house for me to sign all the paperwork and to collect 25% as down payment to get the process started. He stated that it could be 2-4 weeks and to call some 1-800 number to get an update on the progress. **side note- I asked for a breakdown of what the $2,200 was paying for and was never given anything. the bill just said $2,029ish for door and install + tax** 20 days go by. I repeat! 20 days go by and I haven’t been contacted by anyone from homedepot. I call the 800-homedepot number and they gave me a regional managers number to call because my order was on hold. I called the manager and told him my story. He told me that I shouldn’t have had to call the 800 number or him. That homedepot should have called me to give updates on the install and that he would handle this. He called back an hour later and it turns out that there was a lead base paint form that need to be turn in, so the hold status could be taken off (Joe had filled it out, but forgot to submit it). 7 days later homedepot called me to schedule a time to have the door installed. The contractor came on the scheduled date. They were on-time and very friendly. They got the install done a lot faster than I thought it would take. They cleaned up very well and took the old door and any other garbage from it. They couldn’t have done a better job. I was very impressed. Especially after dealing with homedepot. In the end I got a patio door installed, but I had to micro-manage, baby sit, and pretty much beg homedepot to take my money. This was close to the worst customer service I have ever received. I will never suggest anyone use the homedepot install service.

I used to love shopping at home depot. But now I hate this store. The reason for it is installation of the Windows. Chad who works there came to my home in August July 2016. We signed an agreement to install expensive Home Depot brand windows with a life time warranty. In a month 2 Ukrainian guys came in to install the windows. I paid the whole sum outright. In September with Seattle rainy and stormy weather windows started leaking. There was A LOT of water on the carpet, drapes and the TV. My husband and I started calling home depot to come and fix it just about every day. A month later a guy finally came to our place after a million phone calls and stayed tat pa protective Pat of the window was not installed on any of the 3 windows. He gave me a report to sign and said that somebody will contact me shortly. We waited about 2 weeks - no calls. Since October 20, 2016my husband and I have been on the phone with many many people at home depot trying to arrange the repairs. They kept transferring our call from one person to another. Everybody wold say that they will call us back or say that they will set an appointment within the week. Now it is December 13th and they are still pushing us around. The rooms are wet and cold and there is mold forming on the inside of the wall. We decided to file a court order. Damage, inconvenience, hours we have spent trying to resolve it, being treated with no respect and waisting money on a bad product and service and not getting what we paid for on top of being angry and depressed about it all....PLEASE, PEOPLE, NEVER DEAL WITH HOME DEPOT INSTALLATION OR REPAIRS. THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER. And I will see them in court.

This store has a few problems that need remedied. The store is understaffed and rarely can I find someone who either works in the department I need help in, or their attitude is terrible. There are a few items like Scotts Black Mulch that they never carry and have to go to another HD store to get. The one time I gave in to my fiance to see how much flooring would cost vs doing it myself, the employee helping us setup the contractor visit took probably 20 minutes to figure out their system. Another employee had to come help finally. They charge $50 for someone to come out and quote btw when the only other local contractor I called did the estimate for no cost. The HD contractor who did come was only an employee who would take basic measurements. They could not answer any questions as far as how any removal of existing flooring would affect quote, making the person useless as far as questions. The local contractor was able to answer these questions and note the prep work we had planned to have done. Very disappointed with Home Depot and that whole process. I would say either just buy the flooring at Home Depot or do the whole process with a vetted flooring expert who can give you an honest quote. The kicker was the HD contractor quote was 30% higher than the local flooring installer...... forget it. Basically everything I suspected was true and I will never use a contractor service for any work again at HD. I think they owe me $50 for the waste of my time considering the amount of money I spend here otherwise.

We have shopped at this store for the past five plus years and as a result of our building a home, spent a great deal of money there. Sadly, we have noticed a rapid deterioration in the service at this particular store. Over the past 6 months we have, on three separate occasions, experienced not just poor service, but miserable service. Twice the terminals have been down or operating irregularly and the response of the employees has been "ho hum". In one instance, an employee stood off to the side and laughed at his counterpart who struggled with the situation. Im sure he failed to recognize that customers who have been standing in line for over a half hour would find no humor in this. Today was the last straw. The service counter was understandably busy as it was a Saturday. Again, it appeared that the terminals were causing problems. But after 45 minutes of not moving an inch, and six employees all huddled around the computers, we gave up. There really should be some type of manual override to keep the customers moving, happy and spending their money. Its time to go back to Lowes. As a courtesy to the Home Depot corporation, we will also be letting the manager of this store know of these circumstances in the hopes of seeing the store return to what it once was.
