I just wasted half an hour of my time trying to get help with a fan. There were lots of employees in the store but asking for help seemed to bother them. I was back trying to look at fans while two male employees ignored me and seemed perturbed that I was in their way. The side aisle where the bathroom fans are located was overflowing with boxes and cartons, making looking for the right mechandise virtually impossible. So I went up to the "customer service" counter. I was "greeted" eventually by a dour woman who stared at me until I finally asked if I could get help with bathroom fans. No "may I help you" or even "what do you want". Just a blank stare until I spoke. I went back to the fans and waited another 10 minutes until someone showed up. Turns out the model I wanted was out of stock. That happens. But one of the annoyed men who was working back near the fans was the one who said they were out. He seemed very proud and almost happy that they didnt have what I was looking for. I know it is Friday and they are all probably gearing up for a busy weekend, but clogging up sections of the store and ignoring customers who are in the store now might not be the best business practices. I thought I might get better service at a smaller local store but I will stick to the big box stores where I know better than to expect good customer service.

Ive lived in many places around the U.S. and been to dozens of hardware stores for home maintenance, yard work, barn hardware, etc. This is the most well stocked, expertly staffed hardware store Ive ever shopped in. Too bad it is quite a distance from where I live. But I know that when I want a piece of hardware that is just a bit higher quality, or stronger, or less common, then McClendons is more likely to have it than any other hardware store in this area. And if I want some quick plumbing advice, or electrical information I can usually get it here. My only wish is that the prices would not seem higher than elsewhere. But not bad, if you can pay a bit more and get a _lot_ more...so it will stay my go-to hardware store. UPDATE: I had been to three local big box stores (and online) seeking some small, unique metric bolts, washers and spacers. But today I finally gave up and drove to McClendons. Ah-HA! They had all I needed, plus some. Even was able to refine the design of my project, with the unique parts they had, that I did not know even existed. This place is a home shop tinkerers dream candy store.

Used to be my favorite store. Visted today, Pamela for cashier. Customer in front was paying with a check, no biggie but the process McClendon does is insane. 2 pieces of if ID and then hand type everything in the computer then once that is done call manager for approval. I just suggested maybe call manager while you are typing in all that info. She yelled at me to not tell her how to do her job. Her manager was right there and said nothing. She went on and on. I said, just s suggestion and I bet energy one in this store would agree. She flipped and manager still just stood there and did nothing. Handed them my items and said I will never be back. RUDE grumpy out of retirement staff. Last few visits have been dealing with grumpy staff. Lost a true loyal customer and spent lots there over the years. Pamela is a joke and so was the manager that was working Sunday, May 30th at around noon. What a joke!!!!

I have been using this store since they moved into the neighborhood. Looking for large aisle with plenty of space? Forget it, this isnt the place. Yes the parking lot is packed, there is a reason. This is an old fashioned hardware store with new products and the odds and ends you need to work on your old home. The place is crowded and stacked high with goods, and they seem to have experienced people in all departments. If you have a question regarding electrical, plumbing or some other system in your home, chances are there is someone here to answer your question (knowledgeably) and get you headed in the right direction. Thanks McClendon Hardware, keep doing what you do best.

Usually go to Home Depot and have to beg someone to help me even though 75% of the time the person helping me doesnt know anything about the department they are working in or have any desire to help me if they did. Was absolutely amazed with the difference at McLendon Hardware. I went in to pick up some materials for laying tile in my bathroom and the guy helped me understand that I wanted to lay cement board under the tile instead of the particle board I was planning on. Heres what makes that even more impressive...McLendon didnt even carry cement board so he wasnt going to make a sale...he just wanted me to know how to do it right. Super impressed.

Mclendons is a fabulous hardware storee with an excellent selection of tools, lumber, flowers, you name it! Not only do they have everything, they know where everything is and they know how everything works. Unlike big stores such as the depot or lowes (not to finger point) theyre employees dont have any clue of whats going on where anything is how anything works and most of all they dont care! The employees at mclendons make you feel like you know them on a personal level every one is friendly and ready to help!

Huge selection of standard and specialty hardware at decent prices, good tool selection. Couple of aisles of all the different fasteners in grade 5, grade 8, stainless, galvanized, brass, English, metric, ... Nuts: standard, thin, thick, nylock, jam, wingnuts, etc etc. Good paint department. Not the best for e.g. big buckets of standard nails or drywall screws (I think that market is left to the big-box stores), but for anything else try here. Consider this a supplemental supplier.

Went here for the first time and it was a strange experience. My biggest mistake was trying to make some small talk with the 60+ year old lady at the cash register while she was ringing up my items. She had absolutely zero interest. You would think someone of that age would have some clue how to be nice to customers, but apparently not. Next time I am going to Home Depot, at least there I know not to expect a human interaction from their checkout robots.

This is hands-down the best hardware store for miles around. I pass two other hardware stores on my way here to get supplies for various projects. Several times Ive found parts that big box stores dont have. Ive been shopping here for years and have found the staff to be extremely helpful and very knowledgeable.

Purchased a smoker from them and the Staff were super helpful and friendly. They were able to answer all of my questions and took the time to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. Came back again for car lights and got the same great service. This is now my go-to hardware store.

Their selection is good for a small home improvement store. Unfortunately most of their staff are rude and dont really care about customer service. Dont bother trying to return anything, they will hassle you and try to pull something to prevent you from returning it.
