The best grocery store out there. Ballard has all the quality, hard to find, foods at a lower price than Whole Foods or PCC. It also has generic basics at a slightly higher price when its not on sale. The store is always rotating stock, so I love going in every week to see what new finds they have on each aisle. The bulk foods, spices, and teas have an incredible selection and probably the biggest reason why I shop there. However their produce, meat, wine and beer, as well as deli departments are fantastic as well. There is also a great selection of body care and a bulk section for soaps, shampoos, and conditioners. There is plenty of parking, although during peak hours, you might need to park in the back on the street. Even at its busiest times, Ive never struggled to get through the aisles or checkout. Staff is friendly, helpful, and well coordinated. Overall, a well managed store.

I used to live in Seattle and shopped at Ballard Market on a regular basis. They had a great mix of natural, cardboard tasting healthy foods and the every day good tasting, bad-for-you foods. I could get the balanced diet there. The produce department had the best selection anywhere and everything usually looked top notch. The meats were very good and the cheeses were plentiful. One of the best things was the bakery selection -- many fresh made rustic breads, cakes, and pastries. And, dont forget to stop by the deli for some friiiiieeed chicken!!! The employees are all wonderful, but I used to be one of them... Honestly though, I am back in Maryland now and there is not a grocery store that goes anywhere near Ballard Market. Thats why I say "Best grocery store in the US". Wake up Safeway & Giant!

Ballard Market is one of the best grocery stores in the area. Their meat department is excellent and willing to cut roasts to order; the fishmongers always have great recommendations; the wine department is extremely knowledgeable; most of the cashiers are extremely friendly, and the selection is pretty great. The only downside is that - for some items - youll be paying twice of what you should be paying. Fresh fruits, for example, are almost always comically overpriced. For that, I always go to the excellent Ballard Farmers Market. Some items - like peppers or bananas - just make more sense from Trader Joes (right down the street). But for meats, bulk spices, and most other supplies, I always recommend Ballard Market. They run a great store and you should absolutely shop here over Safeway.

My go-to local market. Attractive store, good offerings, fresh produce, moderate prices, and fun weekly Big Board deals. Theyre part of the Thriftway local chain so they have many of the same goods as Central Market, which is bigger. They treat their employees well, which is important to me. They lose a star because they are smaller than Fred Meyer & Central Market, and also they sometimes double-tag fresh items to sell them after the sell-by date, which is illegal, and Ive called the managers attention to it but it continued. I havent seen it in a while, but after seeing it multiple times, I made it a habit to buy my meat & fish at Fred Meyer instead. So I dont know if its still going on.

Love this store!!! Top notch everything from produce to meats to deli. Always tons of great prepared items to choose from. Love how they always have featured dinner ideas that they have positioned for the customer to grab all the ingredients at one spot. Not to mention that the natural/home remedy/skin car section of the store is second to none. The only other grocery store that compares to them in this section would probably be Metropolitan....maybe Whole Foods. What makes Ballard Market the shining star is the fact that they stay open 24/7. I am a ritualistic late night/early morning shopper so I love shooting in and out at 3/4am when no one else is there to grab my stuff!!

I just moved to Seattle and was bummed with the selection of produce and meats at the Safeway across from my apartment. I found this place almost on accident while driving through Ballard. I cant think of anything bad to say about it, and wont go to Safeway unless Im desperate and dont wanna go far. The produce here is EXCELLENT, and I absolutely love being able to buy spices in the amounts I need instead of in a big jar for $5 when I only need a tablespoon. Parking can get tricky on the weekends, but theres plenty of spots on the side roads. And being open 24 hours is convenient when I work late and need something for the next morning.

Just cant get enough of this store -Im totally in love, and yes, I know thats a weird thing to say about a grocery store, but its true. Great, organic products, not too expensive (this is coming from a frugal 25 year old, so I assure you thats a relatively important statement), super friendly staff, and everything youd need in one, not overwhelmingly large, space. If PCC stopped being so pretentious and had reasonable prices, than youd get the Ballard Market. 5/5.

My favorite grocery. Its now full of recent Ballard tech emigres. No liquor, but killer beer section. Nice folks work here. Not the cheapest grocery (Fred Meyer), but always a great selection of hard-to-find items. I never doubt that they will have what I need for a particular culinary project. for some reason, the Wine guy cops a tude. Ive heard him called unpleasant names to his face. More than once. I just ignore him if I need something from the wine section.

Great selections of produce, wine & beers, seafood & meat. There is a large section of bulk items, from sea salt, to rice, to exotic spices & sweets. They have a very nice floral department with unique flowers & vases. There is a coffee shop to sit & sip a cuppa, a salad bar that has a wide variety of delicious cold & hot foods. They have deli meats & fried chicken as well as yummy deserts. They offer a variety of artisinal breads.

Best grocery store around. Fair prices with top notch food quality. Best produce in the region and a huge selection. Meats are always fresh. Dairy section has many local products. The staff is always wonderful and friendly. Usually has an outdoor BBQ on the weekends in the summer showcasing local products. Cant say enough praise for this place. You need to support them so more grocery stores like this exist.

Long time Seattle/Puget Sound grocers who know a thing or two about local tastes and food. Smaller chain. Outstanding fresh vegetables, fruit, baked goods, and meats. Deli items make for healthy lunches, dinners, or potlucks. Good cheese and breads. Excellent bulk spice/grains/flours important for those cooking from scratch. Local / imported wines & beers wont leave you thirsty.

Been coming here since I was a kid, and apart from the occasional re-arrangement it hasnt changed a lot in the last 20-odd years. Its still hands-down the best option in ballard if youre trying to eat healthy, if youre looking for a great variety of stuff, or youre trying to support local businesses. Their deli and floral departments are also really good.

This is a truly great grocery store. In addition to a massive selection, they appear have great produce (organic and not), a fresh peanut butter grinder, a great wine and beer selection, a fantastic deli, and incredible service. This is my go to for a big grocery run and always where I go if Im buying materials for a nice dinner with friends.
