Who here remembers Up Against the Wall and when the indoor go-kart track was the old AMC theater? I grew up going to this mall, starting way back when Aladdins Castle was still bustling with kids playing DDR and Initial D, and when the food court was still located on a now non-existent second floor. Over time this place has changed a lot, especially within the last couple years after a major renovation. The restrooms have all been updated and the overall cleanliness has improved noticeably, and of course the second floor food court was demolished to make way for a more open and airy atmosphere. The current iteration of the mall is nice, with LL Bean and Dave and Busters being two of the newest anchors, and a lot of new fast food additions like Cinnabon. However, every year it seems that there are at least a dozen or so shops and fast food spots that close down and a new one seemingly rises from the ashes, only to be replaced again months later. Seeing that JC Penny and Macys are both suffering, the future is uncertain and its not clear how long this can keep up, so enjoy it while it still exists.

I understand a mall has to change with the times but I just havent enjoyed coming here the same since the last big remodel. It doesnt even look like the mall I came of age as a shopper in. I will always feel sad the carousel is gone, it will always feel as though somethings missing where the 2nd floor food court was (the way the decorations looked at the holidays from the 2nd floor for example). And i absolutely avoid the new food court like the plague. Is that not a fire hazard how they have made the entrance from the movie theater plaza practically impossible to navigate. The parking lot is a nightmare which I always previously avoided by parking solely at Barnes and Noble. Well now that parking lot is a nightmare due to overflow parking from the dug up lot where Lord & Taylor used to be. Anymore it seem i go to Macys and Dave & Busters and thats about it. I dont even really go into the mall anymore.

What a surprise! This was the first time Id been here since the renovations were completed, and theres no longer an upstairs food court. Instead, theres a large open area with a lot of attractive seating (for a mall), and the food court is off to one side where you can come and go more easily from shopping. I think it also leads to the outdoor area near the theater, a very smart addition. Lots of new shops, but my old favorites are mostly still there. Have to admit I miss the Disney Store, but that was another era, so time for me to get over the fact that my kids are grown. Sephora, Apple, all sorts of newer gizmos and companies are there instead. I do like theres a big Barnes & Nobles and my old favorite department stores, Dillards and Macys. Look forward to going back over Christmas to see if they still have a stellar display. I always loved that very cute Santas workshop years ago.

The 2nd best mall in the area with the 1st being MacArthur mall in Norfolk. The offer a wide range of stores with plenty of upscale options too. The best part is the indoor play area for little kids although be warned that bigger kids that shouldnt be there hop in there and push the toddlers around. Most of the parents dont even pay attention but have their faces buried in their phones. They clean the area regularly though. Parking here can be hard to find depending on which entrance you go to. The food court has a wide variety of options and theres even a Starbucks in the center and another inside Barnes and Noble. On the far end theres a shop that lets you rent these slow carts for kids to ride that resemble animals. My kids love it and they arent too strict on your time available either. Overall its a good mall that isnt too crowded with a safe environment.

This is my dads favorite mall. Weve been going to this mall, for over 12+ years now. It has had some major structural changes done to it, recently, but its still a great mall. It has a decent selection of great stores, and a great movie theater, and its surrounded by excellent restaurants. Its got a clean, safe atmosphere, and i always see security patrolling the mall perimeter. Plus, the clientele is mostly made up of military families, so everyone mostly well-behaved. The only drawback is that the food court is now on ground level, whereas it used to be on the 2nd floor that they now demolished, so when people start pouring into the mall it can get very crowded and difficult to navigate through all of the people on the ground level. Otherwise, it is a nice, quaint little shopping mall. :)

Racist security officer. Today I went to pick my daughter up near J.C. Penney and out of the blue comes one of those rent-a-cops. She was watching trying to figure out what I was doing. So I started up my car and moved into the fire lane. Along she came again. I know the fire lane was not a parking spot. But this officer was watching me from the moment she realized I was African American and sitting in the parking lot on the other side in an area not a fire lane. I guess she thinks African Americans dont have money. Some make more money then she does in a day. Stupid idiot! White racism at its best. If I wanted to buy anything at the mall believe me I could have. This is why African Americans are so disgusted and angry with the police and rent-a-cop officers.

I love the bar addition, however there needs to be an attendant added to the restrooms. I went to a late movie and afterward I went to the restroom. After going through several stalls I found one with toliet paper. Which was an indication to me no one had check the bathrooms allllllllll day. Please look down on housekeeping jobs but they dont realize how important they are and how important it is to take pride in this work. Overall I love the convenience of the kiosk and the speedy service at the concession area!

The white people thats cashier at old navy, forever 21, and so on act as if they dont want black ppl or any other race thats not white in the stores , as if you thought they were actually the owners of the stores. I mean no one really cares what they want or who they do not like well at least I dont. Ill continue to spend $20 and nothing more than $50 in that mall its a shame its so many ignorant people in the world like someone cares cause they dont like black people thats their problem clearly.

Not a bad mall and we enjoy walking around. Im still disappointed that they took the carousel and larger play place out and replaced it with such a small one. The charging stations are a nice touch but it was raved about in numerous news articles about the great interactive play place that would go in their place. I held out hope for a while the one they have in front of Barnes and Noble was temporary while they build this great new play place. No such luck. What a bummer.
