Update: This is a message received from Brianna Aletras-Dunn, a former Pets Plus Inc employee: "As someone that worked there for 4 years I know the ins and outs of this place. You can try all you want to press charges but as some one previously stated, the owner is related to and knows most of the Stafford sheriffs department. All Ill say is this.... I abruptly quit back in June because I couldnt stand to sell another sick puppy to an innocent person. I couldnt stand the fifth [sic] and neglect anymore. I also could no [sic] stand the fact that most pups came from mills. The owner is basically family to me but as an avid animal lover, I cannot stand for that kind of abuse. All she cares about is money, not the healthy [sic] of living beings. Do not purchase from there unless you want thousands of dollars in vet bills and your beloved puppy possible dying of pneumonia. They get them from the Hunte Corporation out of Missouri, and week after week puppies are delivered on a tractor trailer that smells like death. Im disappointed in myself for working there as long as I did, but I am out of there now and not afraid to let the truth be told." Ms. Hickey, I have waited patiently to see if you would contact me regarding Chewys health and medical bills. Last night, after giving Chewy his medication for the night and his final nebulizer treatment for the day, that patience ended. Neither my wife nor I have ever had a negative thing to say about Pets Plus, its staff, or the products. We have always found everyone helpful (especially David) and fairly knowledgeable. Even with all that Chewy has had to endure, we have not made any negative statements - even after the derogatory comments you have made about my wife. After our last conversation, I examined my wifes social media posts. Im not sure where your issue lies. She was looking for anyone with the same problem - not with Pets Plus - but with a dog purchased or groomed at Pets Plus. We have been trying to figure out the best course of treatment for Chewy and one way of determining that is to find out if this is an isolated illness or if there could be a contamination at some point in the supply chain. As a responsible business owner, Im sure you would want to know the source. As responsible pet owners, we have ensured you were kept informed every step of the way. Granted, other people who saw my wifes posts had their own comments to make or experiences to share. Trust me, we heard plenty about puppy mills, adopt dont shop, and derogatory personal insults directed at both us and your business. What we were (and are still) looking for is a solution to our puppys problem and hopefully prevent anyone else from going through the same thing. I had hoped you would do the responsible thing, stand by your business, and try to figure this out as well. Instead you have sought to blame us for not using your veterinarian, blame our veterinarian for providing treatment that you felt unnecessary (but has kept him alive), and denigrate my wife in your store. Our veterinarian and the specialist at the veterinarian internal medicine have not simply made up his diagnosis. There are over $3,000 in blood work, radiology, and medications to back it up. This is just the beginning. He still requires a Barium x-ray he cannot get until the pneumonia is cleared. At this point, I can no longer stand by and be patient. I love my puppy and wouldnt trade him for anything. However this does not negate your responsibility and culpability. We were lied to about Chewys origins - you informed me after the fact that he was from a "hobby breeder" and not a licensed breeder as your website states - then proceeded to insult us by offering store credit. I have decided to take this public (and not on social media) both locally and in Missouri where the Hunte Corporation is located.

I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH BEFORE WE PURCHASED A DOG. WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR OVER A YEAR AND RESEARCHED A LOT OF BREEDERS AND PET STORES. WHEN WE ARRIVED ON SUNDAY MAY 10TH WE WERE GREETED BY A VERY FRIENDLY YOUNG LADY. SHE ANSWERED ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS AND LISTENED TO OUR CONCERNS. WE LEFT THE STORE AROUND 3PM AND CALLED THEM A FEW MORE TIMES THAT SAME AFTERNOON WITH A BARAGE OF QUESTIONS. SHE ANSWERED ALL OF THEM AND NEVER ONCE DID I FEEL LIKE WE WERE BEING GIVEN THE BUSINESS. EVERYTHING SHE TOLD US CHECKED OUT AS WE DID OUR RESEARCH ON LINE. SO IT MADE OUR DECISION THAT MUCH EASIER. WE FINALLY DECIDED TO PURCHASE THE DOG BUT IT WAS 5:45PM AND THEY CLOSED AT 6. SHE ASSURED ME THEY WOULD STAY OPEN TO ACCOMIDATE US AS WE LIVE 50 MILES AWAY FROM THEIR LOCATION. I WAS AMAZED THAT WHEN WE ARRIVED SEVERL EMPLOYEES WERE WAITING FOR US AND THEY HAD GIVEN THE DOG A BATH. WE FINALIZED ALL THE PAPERWORK AND LEFT AROUND 6:30. EVERYONE THAT WORKED THEIR WERE VERY PLEASANT AND NO ONE HAD THE ATTITUDE THAT THEY WERE CLOSING SO HURRY UP. SINCE OUR PURCHASE WE HAVE BEEN CONTACTED TWICE TO ENSURE OUR HAPPINESS AND TO ENSURE THE DOG WAS DOING OK. WE ALSO HAVE SINCE TAKEN THE DOG TO A VET AND WE WERE TOLD THE DOG WAS IN GREAT HEALTH AND THAT THE PET STORE MUST REALLY KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR ANIMALS. THE DOCTOR SAID IT WAS NOT UNUSUAL FOR A DOG TO BE SICK OR TO GET SICK WITHIN A DAY OR TWO OF THE PURCHASE. WE WERE DEFINITLEY BLESSED WITH A HAPPY AN HEALTHY DOG. I WOULD RECCOMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR ANY TYPE OF PET. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT AT ALL.. THANK YOU PETS PLUS FROM A VERY,VERY, HAPPY CUSTOMER!!!

Absolutely horrid "pet store". IF POSSIBLE I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS! Almost all of there fish are sick with ick and/or finrot, plus more. The store smells disgusting. The puppies are kept in tiny kennels (a boxer AND an great Dane cannot fit in a 2" tall x 5" box) some of there dogs cant even stand all the way up. Small dogs have it no better and get pilled 4+ in a 2" x 3" box. You can see all there dogs are malnourished and most of the times you can plainly see other ailments. The poop does not get regularly cleaned out of the boxes and the dogs are forced to live in it. They are currently selling a ball python with VERY OBVIOUS fungle infections (big red sores with all the scales puffed out.) housed with other healthy (not for much longer) balls. I go there for live feeders only because they are the only place in Stafford that sells live. 9 out of 10 times they are out of baby mice anyway. I have ordered certain sizes and had to wait weeks for them! They get mice shipments twice a week, WERE ARE THE BABIES I NEED! THAT WAS THE HOLE POINT IN PLACING AN ORDER!!! I cant wait 4 weeks for food, my animals will starve by then! NEVER buy more feeders then you will use immediately!!! Most of there mice are small, bony, and sick. You may get 3 days out of it if you are lucky. David is the only staff member who actually knows anything about the animals they sell, and his customer service is great. I hope he finds a better job. the middle aged man is extremely rude and so is the older woman. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
