My son and I usually swing by the Petsmart at Fairlakes in Fairfax to see the animals and pick up supplies. We stopped by the location in Chantilly and I was shocked and saddened to observe their doggie daycare. While the windowed excercise space seemed larger, the staff member who was in with the dogs really, really did not seem to be a dog-lover. She didnt even seem to like them. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but we and another customer who was standing by (and cringing too), watched as she just sat on the play equipment with her arms crossed, frowning at the dogs and telling them to get away. At one point she shoved one dog away repeatedly as it tried to give her a ball. Then she shook her arm in the air as if to hit the dogs clamoring for her attention (they all jumped back) but apparently only with the intention of scaring them back from her (still not favorable). She finally picked up the ball and threw it over the divider and into the back room, away from the dogs and yelled "There. Now the ball is gone!" Not once did we see her use her hands to pet the assembled dogs or give them positive attention in anyway. The other customer and I went and sought out the manager (Ann) immediately to provide feedback. Ann received the feedback with obvious concern and stated that she would talk to the employee at once. If considering doggie daycare, you may wish to consider the Fairlakes location--we have been interacting with the staff every week for about three months and have been impressed by how good they are with the animals (and people!)

I just moved to VA and wanted to find a new groomer for my dog. I called the Chantilly Petsmart grooming to schedule an appointment for a bathe and trim around my dogs eyes (shes a bichon so her fur is fluffy). Fortunately the lady said theres an available spot in 30 minutes! Once I got there, they seemed way over consumed. For a bathe and trim, they told me it would be 2-3 hours. They took her and immediately put her in the back to be caged. 3.5 hours later I had to call them to ask when shell be ready. Apartently they forgot to call to say she was "ready". When I got there I had to pay the $52.00 (which seems way over priced for a bath/ eye trim) before they brought her out. And when she came out I was completely shocked! She didnt even looked like she was washed!!! Her hair was coarse and DRY! (Worse than when I brought her in). The trim around the eyes was good, but that it! Her ears and face was not brushed. By the time we got home she ran straight to her water dish and drank the entire bowl becuse she was so dehydrated from being caged 3.5 hours!! And on top of it, I had re brush her and fluff her up. Very disappointed!! Especially given the fact Ive taken her to get groomed at several different Petsmarts in Maryland and never had a single complaint! Definitely going to have to find another groomers. :/

From a 2 to I wish I could give more stars in a week: I have 2 dogs. One is happy-go-lucky 11 year old 60 lb dog who loves daycare. The other was an 8lb cutie with a bad back and under-developed social skills. I left them for a weekend and Rex the 60-pounder) was fine as always, but my Mulberry, the little one smelled of pee. We were about to leave for a week and I decided to give the place another chance with more info on personalities. The dogs dont ask to go out because they are on a schedule. The little one says she doesnt want to go, then the challenge is to get her to go back in because she loves to go out.. Anyway, I left for a week with after telljng the staff those little tidbits of info about personality. I came back after a week and found my big guy happy as can be as usual. But there was a big change in little miss problem child!. She is confident, happy and more fun than when I left her! Clearly the personal attention they advertise is for real. Give yourself and this place more than a short visit if you have any hesitation.

Their management has really gone down in the past two years. They take dogs in for doggy day care and then when they get too many they put some in the kennels and switch them out to take turns. Also they used to have balls and things in the play area and play with them, now they associates just stand around. Nothing like being on hold for 6 mins while trying to make a salon appt, get switched to the front where you tell them you were on hold they walk the phone back and put you on hold again for 6 more mins. I guess they dont want my business we will go somewhere else. Also the salon was supposed to trim my dogs fur around her feet and did not but charged us. My husband picked them up and could not wait for them to do it so I had to take her back. No credit nothing.

The Chantilly location is the BEST PetSmart ever! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The staff makes this pace super special for sure. Our pup goes to Day Camp there and we never have to worry about her and/or her wellbeing. I think our pup may like the staff at PetSmart more than us!!! We are so happy to have found you guys :) Luna always wants to make sure she greets everyone staff member before we can even leave the store! You have been thinking of moving and have put it off because we would lose out on this great location and its staff. Thank you guys for everything (and beyond) that you do <3

We frequently use this PetSmarts Doggy Daycamp service to sit for our dog Luna while were at work. Shes usually there most of the day, and always comes out happy and tired when we pick her up. The staff members are phenomenal, and give us a "Pawgress report" that tells us how Luna did during the day. The staff also put pictures up from time to time of the dogs that attend Daycamp, and its quite obvious they all care deeply about them. Id also mention that Lee, the puppy/dog trainer, is excellent and has a great sense of humor, and Id definitely recommend her classes.

Observed great Doggie Daycare Interactions. My daughter and I visited this store on Oct 17 around 3pm. We watched as the Doggie Daycare provider, a young male, continuous threw the balls for the dogs and interacted nicely with them. There was also an excellent staff member who showed my daughter 2 hamsters. The staff member has a hamster herself and was able to give us great insights into owning a hamster. She was very friendly, attentive, and polite. This is one of my favorite stores.

I tried to get a simple nail grind done on my dog at 5:45pm on a Sunday, when their hours say that they are open until 6:00pm. The surly girl working there told me that she couldnt really do it as she had a lot of cleaning up to do. That is not my problem! If you are not going to accept customers after 5:45 so that you can clean up, then your posted hours need to reflect that.
