1 Very dirty. Chaos. 2 Too crowded in the store and you can always find someone waiting for a parking lot. (It has much fewer parking lots as compared with its neighbor -- which is just a pizza store !) 3 Low quality food, especially meat, and some vegetables are not fresh too. The Chinese herb they sold are the worst Ive ever seen. 4 Rude staff -- one cashier yelled at me because I complained about their old-fashioned slow-responding card swiper .... the thing is, two weeks later when I am back I found they got a new swiper.... so obviously I was right. Why people keep going there (actually including myself) is because we have no choice ---- the alternative Asian markets you can find are "Star-Light" market and "大家发" market, but both have similar problems while much smaller than Hong Kong market. Now when I go there I only buy some Chinese vegetables that I cannot find elsewhere, and packed non-GMO Tofu, plus some branded cereal that are imported from Mainland China and Taiwan. I cannot accept other products in their market.

My favorite place to shop for Chinese grocery in town. This place expanded its store space recently to bring in more food varieties. It is not your typical American grocery store. Not sure what to get from there, follow a Chinese speaking customer and pick what they buy to experience a different food culture. Variety of noodles, rice, vegetables, cooking oils, and condiments are some of my must buys. Try take some bitter melons with you in your next shopping stop there, and come up a good recipe with it to impress your friends and families. :-) Bitter melons are healthy eats with bitter taste and it is delicious if cooked right. Some interesting selection of snacks for those whom dare to try without asking for too much details. This place also carries some Chinese cookware and utensils.

When I dont feel like dealing with the disorganized chaos that is Chinatown Market, I head to Hong Kong Market because they carry an even wider selection of items and more importantly SPACE than other markets out there. HK Market offers the usual items that youll find at an Asian supermarket. There are butchers offering all cuts of meat and other parts you didnt know existed. Theres fresh fruit, produce, frozen and canned items, ramen and all that good stuff. I usually come here because A) its closer B) MORE space...did I mention theres MORE SPACE? The customer standard is pretty standard and theres a large parking lot outside the store as well. Hit this place up.

This place is great. Me and my dad come here at least once a month, and were from kenosha Wisconsin. We come to chinatown have dim sum then shop here. The butchers there can cut up basically anything you want. The chicken they have here is far tastier than your average supermarket chicken. I love their spice selection and their frozen wonton section. They have a good selection of vegetables. Great chinese market.

The best thing about this place is that is on the outskirts of Chicago Chinatown so you do not have to fight traffic to park It has everything that a typical grocer has. Raw food, can goods, frozen and vegetables etc. You can get roast duck and pork there. It is worth it if you want to get essentials without getting into Chinatown

It used to be called Hong Kong Supermarket and still features HK brands like Nissin Foods that I cant find anywhere else. They have impressive, but sometimes poorly organized, selections of sauces, oils, vinegars and hot pot seasonings. I live closer to Cermak and Marianos but do most of my shopping here.

Great place to pick up old favorites, snacks, hot foods, and prepped/cut meats and seafood. Ive been going there for years and theyve always been a favorite place to shop. They also cater to non Chinese locals, which I think is always good business and good for the community.

This location has parking and great selection of Asian ingredients. The cashiers only speaks Chinese. The price is good so far. The place is no as clean as big brand stores but I can deal with it.

Theyre not up to par with keeping track of expired products. Bought expired boiled salted duck eggs. Returned. Snack might be okay just because they last a lot longer.

Pretty good, wholesale, Southern Chinese grocery store. Decent store with a wide selection. If you cannot find it, you can probably find it in the frozen aisles.

A large Chinese food supermarket in Chicago, you can find almost everything you need to cook Chinese style dishes there. And the prices are reasonable.

Great selection of fresh and packaged Chinese and Asian food; Weekends are jam packed and people are a little pushy but its worth the aggravation.
