We have visited the Art of Coffee maybe 10 times now over the last three years or so, always after having spent the day in Westmoreland State Park. Sometime just the spouse and me... other times one or both kids. Always an excellent time with great food and friendly people. We all have our favorites that range from their Reuben to the crab soup and the peach smoothies. After a warm day in the sun at the park, the smoothies are a much welcome relief! Neat place with local artists work hanging on the walls and local beverages (wine, beer and even local sodas like Northern Neck Gingerale) for sale too. We are accustomed to food prices in Richmond and DC, so we find the fare at the Art of Coffee to be nicely affordable in comparison. They close at 4PM on weekdays and 3PM on weekend, so you need to get there in time for lunch or to get a carry-out bag of their goodies if you are looking for dinner. We will continue to make this our after-beach go to place!

The Art of Coffee has good food and a nice atmosphere. One thing really ruined my experience, however. After placing my order at the front counter, the cashier turned the computer screen towards me and casually asked- "please select how much you would like to tip." Never in my life have I been asked to tip at a restaurant where you order from a cashier. Its a cafe style restaurant where you order off of a board! Additionally, asking for a tip before the food is even served is also pretty unreasonable . If they want to be considered classy, they shouldnt ask for a tip. Alternatively, they could spend the extra money and actually have waiters/waitresses. Its a shame. The food was decent but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

We visited this place twice while we were staying at Westmoreland State Park. Great location as its just up the road from the Park in the next town. Really nice place that provides a great change of pace from the usual chain coffee places. The lattes were good, and the fruit smoothies were delicious. I think the kids wanted to keep coming back to try all the flavors! Everyone was happy with the pastries we sampled (scones, muffins, and coffee cake). Besides the Wi-Fi (which was very slow and spotty at the Park), we really enjoyed passing the time playing what worked up to be an intense game of checkers on their crab & shark set. Highly recommend this place, and would definitely return if were ever in the area again!

My husband and I have been here twice for lunch. The food is delicious and the portions are more than enough. The place is very clean and you are surrounded by art from local artisans for sale. I dont drink coffee, but I did try their chai tea, which I have to say is better than any chai tea I have had at Starbucks. The Art of Coffee exemplifies the small town coffee shop where you can go and meet others within the community over a delicious beveridge.

This is the cutest and quaint little coffee shop I have ever seen. I didnt think that were particularly pricy at all. Theyre breakfast, lunch, and drinks and very reasonably priced. Good portions for a good price. They have a great menu with so many different varieties. The food is fresh, beautiful and delicious. I have been bragging about this place to my friends and will definitely be back :)

While staying at Westmoreland State Park this became our go to breakfast place. I personally thing they make the best eggs benny in the world. The whole family enjoy it the atmosphere and the food. The kids begged to go eat breakfast every morning. There was something for everyone, though we each developed our favorites we all shared what we had. Best place to eat in Montross.

This place was great! Maybe the coffee is a little pricey, but no more than Starbucks and the quality is much better. Their breakfasts are reasonably priced, all under ten bucks, and delicious! We had the chipped beef on toast and the crab omelette! Cozy atmosphere to boot and lots of neat local artists and crafts for sale.

A quaint little coffee shop with delicious sandwiches and other food and beverage items. They have indoor and outside seating. Another plus is their Arts and Crafts made by local artists which items can be purchased. Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly employees. A nice place to stop and relax.

Love this place! The breakfasts and lunches are great, the coffee is good, and the atmosphere is pretty nice. As some reviewers have noted, they arent falling over themselves to be friendly, but theyre usually pretty busy and sometimes you just want to be left alone so Im fine with that.

We have been eating there for the past 10 years. It is the meeting place of Montross. The owner and staff could not be better in providing terrific service. The food is awesome. The art and other items for purchase are of nature. A great place to stop by. And the owner is a Veteran.

I just came in for a hot chocolate and that was good. The young lady at the register didnt smile once. I felt like she was saying hurry up and give me your order and move on.....Maybe because we arent regulars here.

Nice small out of the way place to eat, breakfast and Hot Chocolate is very good. Hit the spot on a cold morning. Only drawback is the bathroom is outside.

I expected it to be expensive since it was upscale coffee house but the coffee wasnt very good and the sandwich was small and croissant was hard.
