Renters beware! This place has good prices on books. But if you make a rental within the first week of class, return the book before the deadline. I rented the book that was on my syllabus but my professor said I did not need it. The book was still in shrink-wrap and not was not opened. I tried to return it but they told me I cant get a refund because the return deadline had passed 2 days before. They tell me I can either keep it till the end of the semester or return it now. Seriously?! I can return the book now or later, but either way, youre going to keep my money for a book that is worthless to me?! I only go to that class once a week and when the professor tells me I dont need the book in the following week, this place wont accept the return when just I got out of my second day in class?! The whole point of renting a textbook is to receive value from it. When you have to return something that you know you did not receive any value from and they keep your money anyway, how is that fair?! How is that even a good business practice?! But whats more insulting is that they get to keep both the book and your money in the end. Its like paying an entire years rent when you only just stayed for one month. Its like a robbery just happened. Honestly, it would be a lot more reasonable if this place extended the deadline to the Friday on the second week of the semester. Otherwise, a bunch of people will not get their refunds after their professor tells them they dont need their book in the first place. And because of the extremely early return deadline, it feels this business is purposely hoping for that to happen. Dont ever believe this place is out to help students by offering a cheaper alternative than the UT Dallas bookstore. When it comes to rentals, the store return policy is designed to exploit students. If you dont return your books unreasonable soon, youre going to get ripped off.

Ive been going here for quite a while now, and its always been cool, but this semester, the employees seem...idk...less knowledgeable. some are just plain rude. But it was all okay until the other day. I was sold the wrong access code. I was already expressing doubt about whether it was the right one, bc it was supposed to be $20, not $60. But I figured I could return it after class. Of course it was the wrong one. After class I went back and talked to the same girl that sold it to me 2hrs earlier. Long story short, she couldnt find the right access code. So I said, "ok, well I guess I just need to return this one then." "You cant return it." I said, "really?...I really wish you would have told me that before I bought it...So now Im stuck with a $60 piece of cardboard I dont need? And I still dont have the access code for my class..." I think the worst part of it was her attitude. She didnt even pretend to feel bad about forgetting to tell me about the return policy, despite the fact that I was obviously unsure about it bc of the price, or selling me a useless $60 piece of cardboard... If she had simply apologized and said something like, "oh gosh Im so sorry! If I could, I would return it for you right now, I just dont have the authority. But the owner will be in tomorrow, if you come back up here Im sure hell help you out." But she didnt say anything like that. Not a single, "sorry" or "my bad." Nothing. She did suggest selling it, but that just made me madder. Im going to try to go talk to the owner today. Hopefully hell make it right. If he does, Ill change this review to a positive one. Bc I dont want to punish an entire business for one rude employee...So well see what happens.

Beware of the online portal. My online order was so far delayed that I simply voided the charge on my card. Throughout this ordeal, every interaction had been nothing short frustrating. Off Campus Books lacked the decency to take responsibility for their fiasco, or better yet, inform me about the fact that they lost my order in the first place. That was the first and last time that I will buy from Off Campus, especially since Stanza opened down the street. They appear to have less space and inventory than Off Campus, but Stanza still stays stocked with all required course materials at a lower cost. Its not the higher prices that motivated this negative review, its the blatant lack of respect and customer service. At the of my ordeal with Off Campus, I still had not received my book. I didnt receive any kind of apology, just a constant stream of excuses. Afterwards, I had nothing to show for besides lots of wasted time, money, and effort. The only thing I took home from Off Campus was a a case of high blood pressure after every interaction. PS: Amazon Prime is free for students. You can find books for reasonable prices, and Prime gives you free 2 day delivery. Its another option for cash strapped college students like myself.

They have the biggest selection around (besides online) but they will take you for all youre worth. I tried to return some books barely late (they were due friday, I had a friday night exam and tried to turn them in saturday evening but they close early saturdays and sunday they are not open) so monday morning I had them all back in perfect condition and they tried to charge me late/restocking fees amounting to about $230. Im sure Im not the only one who would think thats ridiculous. After much arguing they reduced my fees to about $30 and blacklisted me from ever renting from them again. Meanwhile stanza textbooks next door didnt blink an eye when I turned them in (they were also due friday and I turned them in monday morning as well) No late fees at all and much more pleasant attitudes. Support the little guys next door or shop online.

Coming from the mind of a non college student. Went into this store to browse the books, possibly pick one up to learn, gain knowledge. I knew text books where expensive, but didnt realize how expensive. Not the fault of the stores. They did have a wide selection, and even used books also. Also had a decent collection of UTD apparel since its just down the road. Staff was excellent, was asked several times if I needed anything. When listening to their conversations with others you could tell they where not only knowledgeable about the store, but also cared. Which I believe goes a long way. I highly recommend this store. Whether it be the need of a textbook for classes, or just to gain knowledge from books, like I wanted.

Review update : Management contacted us and they worked with us to achieve an amicable result and we are happy for their understanding, support and care they showed to said problem and our concerns as they waved our fees. Through this experience I have learned that We all should be better at being well educated renters and inspect condition of items to be rented and make sure is stipulated in contract to make the whole process transparent. Wouldnt mind renting there as they do hear your concern and put time and effort to keep your bussiness and a good customer - bussiness relationship.
