I have been running most of my life. I have researched running shoes so I can get the ones that perform the best. I also have the experience to know which ones are best for me. I believe that part of being a wise consumer is to research your purchase and then find a vendor that will give you the best price and service. I have been buying running shoes at Ossine for years because they do that for me. I know what I want and Ossine gives me a good price. The best brands are Saucony, Asic Gell, and Brooks. They are all good shoes and the one that you choose is a matter of personal preference. This personal preference is determined by experience. However, all three of these companies make a cheaper low end running shoe. If you are serious about running, stay in the retail range of about $100 or more. I just recently purchased the Saucony Guide 4 running shoe. The Saucony internet site puts the retail price at $120 and I can get it at Ossine’s for $80. This particular shoe is so comfortable for me and it lasts a long time. It’s a great shoe. This is about my 10th pair. My wife and I needed good hiking/water sandals. Keen is about the best and most popular. I bought the Keen Newport H2 form Ossine’s for $80. Keen on their internet site puts the retail price at $100 and REI sells this sandal for $100. I have known Mr. & Mrs. Ossine for a number of years and they are very hard working people. They put in twelve hours days keeping their business going. They don’t have the financial backing of REI or The Nike Factory Store and are a little more restrictive on their return policies. However, if you know your product and if you know what you want, you will not have to return it. I like supporting our local entrepreneurs who have the courage to take on goliaths like REI and Nike. Don’t get me wrong, REI is one of my favorite stores, but if I can help it, I like to see my money stay in West Jordan rather that send it to Washington State (REI) or Oregon(Nike). I bought a pair of New Balance shoes that hurt the balls of my feet and had worn inserts with no arch support. The balls of my feet started hurting badly after a week. I was told by sales associate to bring the New Balance back and that he would exchange it. I didnt mind paying a little more for the exchange, as long as I got a better pair of a different kind. When I returned the manager was there. When I showed him the shoes he tells me that they dont sell New Balance. I told him, yes you do I bought them here a few weeks ago. He refused to even take an exchange. Then he switched gears and tried to get me to buy inserts for the New Balance and said I would like them better. I told him I wanted different shoes with arch support and that I wouldnt wear this pair again as I was scared after what happened to my feet. He then told me "these are good shoes", which of course I know from experience that they werent. In fact worse pair of shoes Ive ever had in my life. I even checked with a doctor shortly after this happened and he said everything was fine with my feet and blood sugar levels. Things did improve with a different pair of shoes with inserts. Im upset that I was told by the associate to return them and could get an exchange, yet the manager of Ossine wouldnt honor this agreement. Im also confused as to why he would tell me they dont sell those shoes when in fact they do, as thats where I went for purchase. I decided to leave and never buy shoes from them ever again.

I have purchased running shoes from Ossines for years now. I recently purchased a pair of Brooks Ghost Running Shoes from Ossines on July 23, 2015 to the tune of just over $100.00+(+tax). I try to support local when I can, well this time it came back to bite me! I have run in the new Brooks Ghost shoes exactly 5 times and put 59.1 miles on them (yup a freak about my training mileage). The right shoe above the top shoe lace on the inside has completely fallen apart-the cushion was hanging out. I took them back to the manager and he told me they were not warranted by Brooks! Seriously!? I did not ask for my money back, I only asked for an exchange, he refused and then put some "shoe goo" on them. When I insisted that I wanted another pair not being satisfied with his "quick fix" of what was clearly a manufacture defect he again said he could not exchanged them that they are not warranted. Sadly, I will not be able to support and I will not and do not recommend Ossines! A bit on the shaddy side for a customer that has supported him for years when all my running buddies have gone to ordering online. Here I come Salt Lake Running Company!

I was looking for a pair of lineman boots and Ossine Shoes did not carry anything quite like it. I was however sold pair of decent looking and comfortable steel-toed packer boots. I specifically asked if I could return them after I wore them at work for a day to see if they would be suitable for tower climbing. I was assured that I had 30 days to return the boots, even if I wore them at work. I wore the boots for one day, found them to be too soft for climbing, and tried to return them. I was insulted in front of other customers, told that the sales staff would never offer a return policy like that, and that I should go away and use my common sense before coming back. At the least, I think that he should have offered me a different pair of boots. After 10 years as a manager in outdoor retail, I was appalled by the way I was treated here.

Poor Service!!! We have purchased shoes from here in the past and had not had an issue until just recently. I purchased a pair of North Face shoes for Christmas that I took with me on vacation. The first day that I wore them, the stitch in the toe started to come undone. By the end of the 10 day trip, the stitch was completely exposed. I took the shoes back to the store 13 days after I purchased them and was told that I abused them, and that they would not issue a full credit. They would give me 80% of the previous value to be used on any other shoe. I think its a little ridiculous that after less than 2 weeks they are not willing to guarantee their shoes. I find it even crazier that they believe that I purposely damaged the shoes. I will not be back.

This place was highly recommended by the podiatrist I work for, so we were excited to visit. I was very disappointed. I walked in looked around waited for someone to come ask me if I needed anything I eventually just walked towards them one of them did everything possible to not make eye contact while arranging hangers. One guys did approach me but when I asked for help with steel toe waterproof boots he kind of just said this section and read the tags on the shoe to see if they are waterproof, then proceeded to help someone else. My husband and I looked and got really frustrated and left. I called to complain and the guy says "come back Ill help you now, we were very busy." I was there you guys werent busy.
