We discovered Sage Market about 4 years ago, and while I say "discovered" we just happen to stop one day when we got somewhat lost. This little gem is hidden a few miles from downtown Salt Lake, and even though the neighbor and the stop itself look a little rundown, do not let this stop you from visiting it if you have the chance. This little shop lacks space and a better neighborhood, but makes up for it with amazing customer service, always friendly (though sometime serious) staff, and delicious food. Not only can you find ingredients for any type of Japanese food that youre planning on making (the staff is always willing to help you find the exact ingredients that you need), find Japanese stationary, but you can always stop during their lunch hours and have a taste of authentic Japanese food.

Where to start?? They have the best bento box lunches in all of SLC! Get there at 10:00 when they open for the best selection! Prefer to sit down and eat? Try the ramen. Seating is limited and expect a long wait during lunch time but it is worth the wait. They also stock almost every Asian culinary product you can think of...this side of Japan! Its my go to place to Nori, Gari, Miso, Oi Ocha, Furikake, Umeboshi and much, much, more! A small but appropriate and unique selection of sundries such as sake sets, tea sets, and sushi dishes.

This is the best Japanese grocery store in the valley. They had everything Ive been looking for since moving back to the States from Japan. The owners are very pleasant and will help you find what you are looking for. They have traditional food and are not overpriced. And the lunch here is delicious and the service is quick. I highly recommend this market to anyone wanting to find traditional Japanese cuisine.

My wife and I go there when we really really need to get food ingredients that are not commonly known, and not available in other stores for cooking Japanese dishes. They also have little restaurant thing going inside the market, and also sell really yummy Bento boxes if you can get there before noon (or something). The staff is very helpful.

Real Japanese products to include amazing dishes!! The food they make is legit!! Its next best thing to my mom(Japanese)s cooking!! She likes eating there, too!! Staff are so friendly and helpful, and Im always amazed at their selections. They add new stuff constantly, too.

Went here to get some basil because Smiths marketplace had run out. The have a great selection of fresh Vegetables and fruits (including basil, lol). They also have some of my favorite childhood stuff like grass jelly and cold coffees. The owner is also very friendly too.

The owners are very nice and helpful. They have all sorts of items ranging from waffle matcha ice cream to cute little tea sets. The shop even serves wonderful comfort food, like different types of ramen, at a reasonable price.

so I live FARRRRR from SLC, but every time I visit I CANNOT go without eating delicious noodle soup from here. its a tiny store but it makes up lack of size by all the trinkets and food options it has. simply wonderful :-D

To bad the scene hipster kids found out about this place. It would be nice if you invested in more dining seat areas or provide outside seating, so more people can enjoy your food without touching elbows with others.

This place is a gem. Ramen and gyoza are my favorite. Grocery store with a 20 seat restaurant inside. Ladies there are so nice and device is great. They have all the Japanese groceries you need.
