although I had good dealings with the pawn shop with same name in Layton and Ogden years back, I had to check a five star rated pawn !! .I love pawn shops, I helped a friend run his nearly 20 yrs ago. I understand the manner in which revenue can be lucrative and how one could also lose money as a business(taking anything that comes in the door and or driving people away with an attitude or prejudice) ...in reality many things I would rather purchase at a pawn shop..most do thorough checking and have an eye/ear for BS. i went in specifically for $10-15 being holiday weekend, end of month. i live less than mile from store and rode my Schwinn for exercise...i had digitech processor, 2 nearly new kershaws, chainsaw sharpener and new dremel drill press. i was polite and up front told the old man i needed small amount of money for weekend and only wanted to pawn any of the items. everything i had was either in original case and or protected by something like cloth bag, i didnt have alcohol on my breath or anything like that...i take pride in my appearance and not ashamed to ride a bike..excellent way to exercise. your employee not only made me feel like i was not welcome, but never even looked at a single thing i showed him. most people can easily come up with $10-20 bucks without pawning or selling something. I enjoy conversation, local businesses and just getting out sometimes. i cant possibly associate your store with that of ogden or god forbid Layton up until 10 yrs or so ago. rarely do i complain but up until a year or so ago and an accident that prevents me to work, my profession was helping businesses keep their doors open. if you are operating AS a pawn shop then do so.. if you plan on operating as a specialized pawn shop(just jewelery and firearms) advertise that way. you deserve one star rating!! RUDE, PREJUDICIAL, ASSUMING AND CONDESCENDING...but thats my opinion. try any other pawn shop ANY other one seriously

A pawn shop is a pawn shop. You have to know that going in there if youre looking to pawn something. They are going to offer you a lower dollar amount for the goods you are looking to pawn because they have to incorporate handling fees and potential resale if you default on your pawn agreement, which happens quite often. However, their sale prices seemed fair and they were very personable. From the interaction I had with them, they were willing to haggle on items they were selling. The owners were very pleasant and greeted my wife and I at the door. They also offered us free coffee and hot chocolate. They werent pushy at all either, unlike some pawn shops Ive been in around the area. Ill definitely check back in with them periodically!

First time ever going to a pawn shop. The people here treated me with respect, were extremely friendly, and gave me a great deal on the items I needed to sell. Even though they knew I live in Japan and really needed to sell my stuff, they didnt use that against me to lowball me. I have nothing but good things to say about this shop. Went to another shop in a different city a few days later and totally got lowballed. Wish I had been able to go to Hy & Mikes that second trip. If at all possible, I will ONLY do business with Hy & Mikes. Arigatou!

Absolutely love Hy and Mikes! Pawn shops tend to get bad reputations whether deserved or not. Its been my experience that the folks at Hy and Mikes are incredibly honest, knowledgable and fair. I bought a TV among many other items recently and got it home to find it had a small problem. I expected them to say, "Too bad," or "How do we know you didnt cause the problem?" Instead I got a "No problem, just bring it back in and well swap for another one" I cant say enough good about Hy and Mikes of Roy. Will definitely recommend to everyone.

Ive dealt with these guys for well over 15 years. Theyve always been extremely fair and honest with me. Theyre absolutely the most friendly pawn shop in all of northern Utah, as they treat everyone who walks in their store like a friend versus a customer. Theyve always been fair with me when Ive been on rough times and had to pawn something, and in turn theyve been great at cutting deals for stuff Ive bought from them. I have always and will continue to shop here for as long as they remain open.

Such fabulous people its family run and they seem to understand that the items we might have to pawn have sentimental meaning. I do all of my Christmas shopping there. My wife and I nicknamed it the North Pole because they are aware of how to price things perfectly. Their interests is low and they have helped me over the last 10 years through 2 super hard times. I still have the items that are dear to me and friends too. At least thats what it feels like.

Love the gentlemen at Hy and Mikes. They seriously do focus on keeping their customers happy. Ive only ever purchased from here, but it seems like they work hard to help people out when it comes to pawns and loans. Their prices are very reasonable and they arent a giant junk shop. They only put out usable and working items for sale unlike other local pawn shops who are stuffed to the gills with over price junk.

Ive been doing business with this pawn shop for probably 20 years now and these guys are awesome (especially steph) ..really though theyre all amazing people at this shop, even though Im not that great at guitar they treat me like a rock star !
