I have never left a review for a business before this but my experience here was too bad not to share with potential customers. My wife and I bought a used 2013 model year pickup with a rebuilt title at Dunklee 1 year ago. I understand that rebuilt titles carry increased risk and there is a reduction in price due to getting a blemished vehicle. A rebuilt title doesn’t mean you should expect a vehicle that will give constant problems because every corner cut when repairing. We found an ad for the truck on KSL and made an appointment to check it out while we were home over Christmas from California. On the phone we were told that we would be shown pictures of the wrecked truck before the repairs had been made and that a car-fax type report would be given. When we got there to look at the truck the salesman conveniently couldn’t find the pictures and didn’t have a report to provide. The lack of documentation should have been a red flag bur we still decided to buy the truck because it seemed like a pretty good deal and we didn’t want to spend our whole vacation shopping for a vehicle. Besides, the salesman said he had been using the truck for the last few months for a personal vehicle and that there weren’t any issues. On our trip in Utah (I think it was the same day) we filled the wiper fluid because it was empty, only to find out that the washer pump ran and ran spraying a reservoir’s worth of fluid in just a couple of minutes. Not the end of the world but annoying. Still in Utah we hit a bump and one headlight went out. We found it would come and go depending on the bumpiness of the road. If the truck had been driven by the salesman for any period of time he would have known about both these issues. He was dishonest and did not say anything. Less than a week of owning the truck (2013 with less than 20k miles) and the check engine light comes on. I feel the odds of a pre-existing condition that was known about by a dishonest salesman are better than something happening within a week of buying the vehicle and having the light come on. Either way a check engine light within a week is ridiculous. At the point the check engine light came on we were already back in California so we had to take it into a shop to get it the issue and the intermittent headlight repaired. I called to express my displeasure and was told that we could bring it into their shop to have it looked at. That isn’t too helpful when in another state. The most recent problem just occurred now that we have moved Montana. The temperature never gets very cold in Southern California so this issue didn’t show itself down there. We have had a recent cold spell up here with subzero temps nightly. This should be no issue for any modern vehicle but since some repairman looking to save a few bucks filled our radiator with water or overly diluted antifreeze our radiator cracked due to the cold temperatures and now has to be replaced. Like I said in the beginning, used vehicles come with a risk and you sign a document saying there isn’t really anything you can do when you get sold a used lemon, so we go to Google to warn others. In this case it seems pretty obvious that the salesman was dishonest and knowingly sold a poorly repaired vehicle. Buyer beware!

STEER CLEAR! Dishonest and untrustworthy!! Me and my husband were interested in a vehicle at Dunk Lee auto. After some negotiating we were told a certain price along with replacement of 4 used tires. (The ones they tried to pass off as "safety approved" and sell to us were completely BALD... no way safety passed). We put down our non-refundable deposit to hold the car until the tires were finished. My husband tried to contact Ralph 3 or 4 times over the course of a week and he was always "unavailable" and never returned his phone call. Finally, 2 days before we were supposed to pick up our car, Ralph called my husband and told him that they had to replace TWO tires and if we didnt like that then tough, they could just refund our money but that was all he was going to do NOT the four we had agreed upon. Even though we had agreed all FOUR tires would be replaced. My husband told him we would come up (an hour drive) the next day and check out the car and still planned on picking up the car that Monday. We even had one of the sales people take a picture of the tires and send it to us, so we could look into buying separate tires ourselves. So the next day we drove a hour in the snow to check out the tires situation. Lo and behold we pull up and our car was gone. Yep. THEY SOLD A CAR WE HAD PUT A DEPOSIT ON OUT FROM UNDER US WITHOUT REFUNDING OR TALKING WITH US FIRST. Robert (the owner of this fine establishment) told us he had no record anywhere saying that we were going to pick up the car so he had "accidentally" sold it. Then magically right in front of him, we found a manila folder with the car and our name written on it saying we were picking up the car on February 1st, that next Monday, with FOUR new tires. Opps. When my husband pointed out the file right in front of us all, and asked why it was there if "there was no record" Robert immediately yanked it out of my husbands hand and told us we were not allowed to look at the car files. Not stretching the truth at all- that bad! Robert then proceeded to tell us that Ralph had told him that we were "threatening and back and forth too much" so he had decided to sell it from under us so they didnt have to do business with us. We had only talked to Ralph once and had only asked why he wasnt planning on replacing the tires. BUT Robert continued to say that they would be happy to use our deposit toward the purchase of another vehicle. Seems like our business wasnt too bad after all- just wanted our money. When we tried to call and ask Ralph what had happened, he flat out hung up on my husband without saying a word. We were then told how rude we were being for being upset with them about the situation Long story short- THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. Lied, took our money, sold our car out from under us, lied some more, and then wanted us to use our money for another one of their fine "safety and emission passed" vehicles. Are you kidding?! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a car from them the first time and ended up wrecking it after a month. They were very cool about not coming after me for extra money and they took the car back and told me I could get another one with them when I was ready, they got paid for it and re-sold the car to someone else after it was fixed (paid for by my insurance). Here is where they went bad. I went back to get another vehicle and found one I liked. The salesman "Robert" took my $1500 deposit for the car and we started doing paperwork. I had to come back the next day (50 minute one-way drive) because the finance office was closed and I couldnt sign paperwork until they were open. I was already approved for this vehicle. I was super excited to be getting into another car from what I thought was an honest and straight forward car dealer, the interest rates are high, but not bad for someone out of bankruptcy. I got there and my salesman was not there, some other salesman was. He informed me that I could not have the car that I paid a deposit for, stating that it was "too nice of a car" for me due to my "history" with them. WHAT?!! He instead wanted to give me a crappy older model car with higher miles and paint damage. He said I could "trade it in later" for a nicer one. First of all, Im sure its illegal to give me a receipt for a deposit on a car and then change your mind. Also, they had me drive almost an hour up to them only to tell me I couldnt have the car I chose, but could choose a crappier one. Still tried to get money from me and get rid of a less desirable car. WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT BEFORE I LEFT?He said he wanted to tell me in person. So he wasted almost 2 hours of my time so he could still keep my 1500 and sell a car still. Im not stupid, this is a shady Bait and Switch move. These guys are just like any other Buy Here, Pay Here. Dont let the home-town niceness fool you. Its only about the money. Here is what likely happened. It was one of the nicer cars they get on this lot. They likely got other interested buyers with more money or better credit and decided to take the money and screw the guy (me) trying to rebuild his credit. This was an incredibly shady move and I went next door to "A Lot of Cars" and they got me into a much nicer vehicle for the same interest and down payment as Dunk-Lee. The car is awesome and I am so happy I went to "A Lot of Cars". I wish I had gone there first. Im sure people have been satisfied with their experience with Dunk Lee, but when the chips are down, they will show their true colors. Response to Dealer Comment: I paid 1500 deposit +400 for first month, had a car accident and my insurance paid out, and I gave the car back, they fixed and resold it for profit + my $1900 down and I got $0 back and no car. Then they lie in a review to seem like "the good guys". Only good if they are still profiting. Its just how a business operates, no business is your friend.
