I used to use this place regularly to get pet food. This has changed after my last visit. I went looking for a new type of food, on my last visit. I grabbed a bag of cat food that was priced for about $7, when I got to the register it rang up $12. The two people behind the register seemed very reluctant to even look into this even though I was the only person at the desk. Once of the two people decided to help me we walked over to the area I got the food. I showed him where I grabbed it from. He then informed me the food for that price was the 3. Something size, he then asked if thats what I brought to the register. I informed him I didnt compare the bag to the price tag, I was unaware I needed to do something like that. After he yelled to the girl at the front desk I found the bag I grabbed was a 5lb bag. I was then told the price tags were magnetic and can be moved so thats probably the issue that happened. Which rather made me feel like I was being accused of trying to get he food for a different price than what it was, which was rather unsettling for me as this isnt something Id ever do OR would I insinuate of a customer (as I have done a lot of customer service in previous jobs). I got no apology or any sort of lowering of a price, and left feeling like the issue they had was my fault due to how I was treated. I will not be returning to a place that provides such extremely poor customer service. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

Most times Ive come here, I had a decent experience and employees were willing to help me find what I was looking for. Tonight, however, I was disappointed. I came here to find an e-collar for my pup who opened a lesion on her belly and wont stop licking it. I found a particular e-collar that was $28 in the store and $11 on Amazon (shipping included). Upon my request, the cashier went to ask the manager, who was sitting with his legs up on the phone, whether they could price match and he told her they do not price match with Amazon and will only price match with "other stores in the area". That is understandable, but the fact that the manager wouldnt get off the phone to come and talk with a customer or try to work something out with me was disappointing. None of their products should be so overpriced that they are nearly three times what is offered online with free shipping--particularly products that are often needed in time-sensitive situations such as this one. Supporting local businesses is important to me, but a price difference as stark as this one discourages me from buying products at their store. Plus, as a customer I felt completely ignored by the manager. Thankfully the customer service is usually better than this.

Im sorry everyone but I have to vent a little. I went to Pet World today(the one here in Madison Wisconsin) because I could not find what I was looking at Animart. They had baby ferrets and as I was looking one of them looked like she was pregnant. So I found a store clerk and asked if I could look at them. As I was looking I started a conversation with her and asked her if she was a ferret owner and she said she was and that she had three that were a year old a few years ago. So I started telling her about me and my husband how we have two sweethearts at home and how were getting a third this weekend. I then asked if she ever had to deal with a biter before. Well what she said as an answer pissed me off. She said that when they do that you are suppose to scruff them and bop them on the nose and tell them no. What really pissed me off was that she demonstrated with the baby she was holding. SHE FREAKING HIT IT ON THE NOSE IN FRONT OF ME. IT DID NOTHING WRONG AND SHE HIT IT!! I was so mad I had to walk away from her before I made a scene. There was no manager there and Im half tempted to write an angry letter to the company but I dont know if it will.

My friend and I went there hoping to get another robo dwarf hamster. They showed me the only one left there. My friend said the hamsters left ear is red. So I asked the staff to show me that ear. First, she didnt hold the hamster gently. When its ear was hidden, she squeezed its neck and head in order to show us its ear. Then the hamster SQUEALED!! I was scared too. But she said it didnt cause pain!!! I have been keeping my old one for almost 2 months and had never heard this kind of cry. In some hamster websites, Id asked if robo dwarf hamsters make any noise and I couldnt find the information that they squeal. I can imagine how painful that poor hamster was when the staff tried to show its ear. Also, my friend and I found that its eyes are red. But the staff kept telling me its healthy. We were very disappointed and left. We felt very sorry to that hamster and all the pets that are kept at that store. They simply dont take care of their pets. Even after I told the staff the problem of that hamster, she didnt do anything to it and just put it back. My impression is that the people working there are irresponsible, not caring, and kind of abusive.

Where to start? The blatant sexism that occurs on a daily basis or the disturbingly poor quality of care provided for their animals? Lets start with the animals. The reptiles never have clean water bowls and theres constantly old dirty food left in the cages. Most of them dont even have proper lighting that they require. The girl who runs the reptiles (Katy or Katlyn?) is clearly a college dropout. The bird room is in shambles, half of the livestock rips out their feathers due to stress or have runny poop all over their butts. Dont even get me started on the lack of correct food. The small animal room looks okay sometimes. But its generally overcrowded to the point where theres 5-6 semi adult rabbits in one 40 breeder. And theres hay in the mice and rat cages for basically no reason besides the fact that the store is too cheap to give them proper chew toys. The fish room is basically just a room of disease. The bodies of the dead just float around casually. The staff can be friendly or a complete waste of space. The guy running the show is a 60 year old man who surrounds himself with younger women. Its kinda weird.

The place seems to have quite the variety of pet food to choose from and the fish selection is quite large too..... If you need help, youre better off asking at the register for some assitance b/c the chances of actually spotting a worker anywhere in the store besides the register is unlikely.... The place is a warehouse so watch the expiration dates on some of the items you are purchasing..... Oh and if youre going there to purchase mice or rats for a reptile(weve got a red tail boa)....heres a tip.... The fancy friendly pet" rats for sale, are really just feeder rats. They just transfer them back and forth, my husband saw them do it and the sales lady even told him so.....So dont be fooled. If you buy dog or cat food there, make sure to keep your reciept b/c if you buy 10 bags you get 1 bag free....(with proof of receipts obviously) overall the place is ok......nothing to hype about it, but theres a bit to gripe about
