Mark Villareal is undoubtedly the best car salesman in the city; I have been to a host of dealerships over the past few years, and I was so pleased that I was able to avoid all the wrangling and hard negotiating usually involved in a car sale, thanks to Marks honesty and easy-going sales approach. He is a kind, gentle, and intelligent man - a far cry from the sort of avaricious sharks one usually encounters at these places, including some of his colleagues. I walked into the dealership wanting to buy a specific candy-white 2-door Golf at the advertised internet price, and I was signing paperwork within minutes of test-driving it. Not one to abandon a customer once the sale is locked in, Mark personally drove me to the bank to pick up my financing check, and then, once the car was ready, patiently set up and demonstrated many of the upgraded features in my car which I may not have taken advantage of if left to figure them out for myself. My only complaint is with the finance department. When I got into the finance managers office, the purchase price had suddenly increased by more than 500 dollars from the one which Mark presented to me. After initially insisting that she did not know why the price may be different, and then blankly staring at me as though I were supposed to continue signing such an agreement, the finance manager eventually changed something quickly on her computer and then printed out an order with the exact price which Mark had presented to me. This seemed like an under-handed attempt to eke out just a little more profit on the back-end of the sale by exploiting a customers eagerness to sign and tendency to overlook the numerical details of a transaction after a certain point. Moreover, because Anciras finance department could not beat the pre-approved loan I had with Chase, I opted to proceed with my own financing. Ancira was actually able to offer a half-point lower interest rate, but because of the numerous protections, warranties, and fees which get bundled in with the dealerships financing package, my payment would have been increased by $50 a month, despite the better loan rate. Though I insisted on financing with Chase, the finance manager adopted an almost bullying tone in trying to change my mind, finally employing a thinly-veiled threat that I would not be able to get my car that day if I couldnt get to the bank and retrieve my check on time. Had the finance department exercised the same sort of understanding and discretion which Mark did when dealing with a customer, then I would be able to recommend the dealership without qualification. Unfortunately, my experience suggested that Marks professionalism may be the exception, rather than the rule, at Ancira. I would give the dealership a five-star rating, were it not for the regrettable tactics employed by its finance department; every star which I did grant the dealership ought to be attributed to Marks outstanding professionalism, which helped to smooth over some of the less-pleasantly managed portions of Mr. Anciras establishment.

I walked in the door just to inspect and test drive a 2010 Golf. The vehicle was recently purchased that Saturday and I was there Monday. So the vehicle had not been through their inspection or cleaning process. This makes it easier for me to spot any problems that the previous owner might have had or other reasons they might have traded it in. Besides the broken windshield and dirty appearance, the car was mechanically sound. This was the third vehicle I looked at that day and it was the one I wanted. I started discussing price and trade in value for my truck. To my disappointment, they only offered me a low price for my trade in. I had to haggle for an hour to get them to raise it. I practically was out the door when they told me they could make it work with their financing. Approximately 30 minutes later, they could not. However, since I brought my own financing, the price worked with it. Since the vehicle was not ready for delivery, they gave me a loaner for a day. My problem arose the following day when feedback was scarce. I had to call them to get information about the Golf. I understood it still needed to be repaired and cleaned, but I could not understand when someone says they will call you back why they dont. They are slowly making me feel like maybe I should have not gone with them and instead purchased another vehicle from a different dealership. They promised that on Tuesday they would have a guy come out first thing in the morning and repair the windshield. Seems they didnt try hard enough. After they took my car and gave me the loaner I was just another customer. So, if they want to fix this, maybe they should stand by their deals and report back to their customers. As of now, I would not recommend them solely based off of feedback. Their store was clean, but they didnt offer the customer much other than a bathroom and a water fountain. Their representative tries to hold you there after you declined the deal and offer you a new one when you are ready to leave. I may deal with their service department if their mechanics are good techs. But I will leave that for another day. This is just my experience, yours may vary. *UPDATE 20 June 2012* Tony took over my case and immediately called me this morning with some feedback. My car was to be repaired this morning and should be ready for pick up by lunch time. About 30 minutes after that call he told me that after they replaced the glass he took it for a test drive and it "drove funny". He told me that they were going to replace all four tires and fill up the tank for me. Tony excelled where Rudy failed. They completely turned around this experience for me and made it so much better. I would highly recommend this dealership to others if you are looking for a VW! Thank you Ancira!

When stepping into Ancira I was a little nervous, but there awesome receptionist brought a smile to my face. She was super sweet and put a smile on my face since I was a little nervous. I immediately met with my sales consultant Joe Mejia. I have bought 4 cars in the past and this by far was the best experience ever. Joe took the time to explain all the cool features of the vehicle, the stuff VW fans want to hear and learn more about. I was really impressed with his knowledge base. He really understands all the VW vehicles. I wasnt sure whether to go with the Jetta TDI or GTI. After driving the GTI its an amazing car. If your a VW fan you have to have Joe let you test drive this awesome vehicle. I traded in my VW Jetta and got a good price on the trade in. Joe is really organized and makes the process of purchasing a car fun and not nerve racking. Something unheard of when you make a big commitment like that. He made sure I was happy with the financing of it and got me a great deal. I cannot thank him enough. I also want to say that there team as a whole also did a great job; there car sales manager Carl Carper and Mike Rosas the finance manager did an awesome job at getting me a great price, with extra incentives and discounts you need when you purchase a vehicle like the GTI. Its a great car!!! Im so happy that I went in and met with Joe. I dont know if I would have bought the car of my dreams if I hadnt met with Joe since he made everything flow so smoothly and made sure I was taken care of. His passion came through and you can clearly see how much he enjoys taking care of his customers. I actually saw a returning customer of his who was really satisfied with his purchase. He was in for his scheduled maintenance. Like me and others when I go get my car serviced I will go see Joe and tell him thanks!. He makes you feel at home. I love that Im the new proud owner of a 2014 GTI Drivers Edition. I love this car. I would definitely look into the Jetta TDIs or GTIs. They are awesome vehicles with a lot of power. I get now why they have one of the highest ratings in San Antonio and the nation. If you venture in, make an apt with Joe Mejia. Hes awesome!!!!!!!!
