Is there anyone else that just loves the fact that seemingly every Ace Hardware in the country offers up the same familiar aroma that causes a flood of childhood gaiety upon entry? If so, theres no way youre going in this store and leaving empty-handed! Beyond the already obvious, the employees I have encountered here are friendly and very helpful. I say this despite the fact that the last time my hubby and I brought our easily excited, sweet, inquisitive four-year-old twins, half of which proceeded to have a full-blown meltdown over, you know, the things you might anticipate--even as it is only worth noting as this meltdown was severe enough that it resulted in me sitting with a little guy in our air conditioned vehicle while my husband and other pre-school-aged son finished the shopping to this mommys disappointment. Aside from that, we are still looking for a couple of things that we didnt purchase here during our last visit as they seemed to be priced right-at-retail and are resultingly priced more competitively elsewhere. Just the same, we left with a few tried-and-true items that we buy here time and again as well as other miscellany.

One of the things I love about historic McKinney is the small-town feel, and this store exemplifies it! Family owned and run, they can actually answer darn near any question you can throw at them. Prices are the same as Home Depot but you can get real support here. I wondered how a small business can still be going after the big "discounters" moved in. Turns out when you are more convenient, and have better service you keep customers. Long live the Grooms!

Received a gift from out of state relative who shipped it to this store and pick up was smooth and the employees were super friendly and helpful. They had complimentary popcorn that was such a nice gesture. Love that there is still hometown business like this family owned store we will not go to big box stores anymore for our hardware and garden needs. Highly recommend Groom & Sons Ace Hardware

Somehow they almost always have what I need. They stock some items you cant get at the big box stores. The real thing that sets this place apart is service. The people that work there know what theyre talking about, and theyre eager to offer help.

Exactly what you would expect. Friendly, knowledgeable employees and a pretty wide range of products. You pay a little more but the convenience and knowledge shared makes this a high value retailer.

Beware buying merchandise here, wouldnt accept my return of Christmas items and the manager replied to me "why would I want these back?". Didnt argue with her, wasnt worth it. So long, Ace Hardware!
