Love this place! The food and deli quality decreased if u compare to 2 years before! Their napoleon was bad! Russian potato salad is disgrace! However store offers variety of international food , drinks and beverages! The kind of cucumber and eggplants they have are awesome! A lot of bread types and cheap and fresh pita bread! Baklavas and packed cookies tea are excelent! Pie specially spanakopita doesnt taste the same anymore! The old ladies at a pastry are very disrespectful! They re looking to any chance to argue and fight with customers! Few times happened to me when I see old ladies behind baklavas or pies I just dont buy anymore! Check out is quick and cashiers are doing what they are trained to do instead showing nasty attitude as old women at a pastry! Thats the only reason I graded this store 3 star! Management its up to u! U can do better than that

New building, new employees, but unexperienced. Today I went as a loyal customer. They had wrong price tag on it. Employee argued with me for about 35 or 40 min over $2. I told her I am willing to pay twice for the same product but you had a wrong price on it . She did not even care when I told her that I am a loyal customer and been shopping with them since they were across the street. I end up returning the stuff which she most happy to do. God bless them with success but the customer service I received today was horrible. I went across the street to ADAMS and bought the stuff I wanted happly even though it was a little expensive. I talked to manager rafeal and came to conclusion that I will never go there again. Good store, Good merchandise but very bad customer service.

We used to drive down to Hillcroft and buy specific Indian spices from the Indian shops over there. Now thats 15 miles from my place. I decided to pay a visit to Phonecia today since it is less than 2 miles from my place. Oh boy, what a great decision!! I pretty much found every thing I needed for my day to day food preparations and much more. Its quality and price point are comparable to the best selling Indian store in Hillcroft. The sea food section was pretty small - if you are really into sea food then you will get better stuff in place like Viet Hoa on Bellaire. Phoenicia has a good wine, pastries, and deli section as well. I am going to try their Deli stuff tomorrow - esp Shawarma!!

My girlfriend and I LOVE Phoenicia! Their pitas that come down from the conveyor belt are amazing with the labne cheese that they sell. The steaks are great and we find tons of amazing, fresh ingredients to cook with. Also love that they have some really neat cookware, a decent selection of cookbooks including a few that give recipes for local Houston restaurants, and even hookahs. Definitely a place for adventurous foodie cooks into trying ethnic cuisine who dont want to spend their entire paycheck on groceries at Whole Foods just down the street, or people who grew up with these kind of foods and cant find them at Kroger and HEB.

Where in America do you buy something without a receipt. Instead of having a sign, they do not tell people until you wait in line for 30 minutes and finally the cashier goes "by the way we can not give receipts today.......the system is down." I asked for the cashier to write me a receipt but she became upset and called the "manager." So is this my problem, and when the manager came, she acted like it was my fault and that I do not have a right for a receipt. WOW! The management and work staff SUCK BADLY (except the bakery people, I never had problem with them). The need an extreme staff service makeover

Could you please do a little better job during weekends and holidays? Today Dec26th. I understand it was busy due to holiday. Can you stock things for holiday so we dont return empty handed. Everything was pretty much ransacked. We could not find any breads. There were few grocery, veggy and fruit items. Same thing constantly happens during Sunday. Please understand we only have time on Sunday as we are working and what we see is an emptied store. Could you have more staff working during weekend so they constantly put back stuff on the shelves.

One of my favorite supermarkets. Phoenicia is not what youd call a standard supermarket. Instead of retailing a normal selection of products, this store concentrated on providing a wide selection of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern products. Ranging from spices to find olive oils and even wines and beers, youll find things here youre not likely to see in ordinary supermarkets. To top it all off, the cafeteria also serves an excellent range of lunch specials. If youre after a different kind of supermarket, try Phoenicia.

Great place to grab a quick lunch. They have a deli aisle as well as a bakery beside it for dessert (baklava, croissaint, etc). While youre eating on the tiny little table, theres a conveyor belt towards the front of the store that moves all the pita bread down so someone can package them for sale below. They also stock a lot of ethnic mediterranean specialty canned and frozen food, as well as some of the regular staples (pizza, frozen meals). Theres a fresh produce section, but I would hardly call it "fresh".

DO NOT GO THERE, a bunch of thieves. They over charge you. In the past year I caught the cashiers over charging me at the checkout register and I always hear the same thing over and over again the same explanation that they are sorry. If a person was caught taking any goods from a store ( bubble gum)and they were caught theyd be jailed , right! How about when the store steals your own money all you would get is SORRY! Or not sure how this happened, REALLY! I Do not recommend this place to anyone, bunch of thieves.

I have found a new favorite bakery in my favorite neighborhood of the city. At $4 a cookie, you should know youre in for a treat.I waited in line for about 10 minutes and was taunted by the delicious smells coming from the kitchen.I paid the cashier with a smile on my face and took a bite before I even left the building. I was in heaven. The chocolate chip walnut is a game changer. I wish I could have these cookies every day in Columbus, OH! Will definitely be paying a visit next time I am in the city.

I love Phoenicia and Im the big fan of it, it is a great store, but I have to mention some other things also, first of all 90 % of the food and items do not have Expiration date and that makes me scared sometimes, also the ground meats (lamp and beef ) have two different colors, pink and brown which may indicate that the half of the meat have came from an old piece of the meat, I hope they start to take action and be more responsible about these serious issues. keep up the great work

A treasure. One of the GREAT stores and eating venues in Houston and a "must visit". You need to go to both locations as they are both wonderful in their own way. I am so proud of this family for bringing Phoenicia to the downtown area and providing a place for excellent food and shopping. Big Thumbs Up! But I still love this, the original, after they made the move across the street from their original warehouse location. I used to call this the "Sams Club of Middle Eastern Food".
