IKEA is one of those "must-see stores if you are not from around the DFW area. I have family that comes in to visit from out of town and they love to go there every time for the sheer novelty of it, plus the products are pretty innovative, too. The style of most of the decor and furniture doesnt fit my "traditional" style of decorating in my home, however the organizational products, bedding, and a few other products are wonderful and I go back for more! Here are a few of my favorite products: Candles: Tealight candles from IKEA are very inexpensive, smell great, and burn much longer than those I have purchased from Target or other stores. IKEA also has taper candles for a great price, and if you want to add some romantic ambiance to a room, you can find little glass tealight holders for around .50 each that look beautiful! If you put your IKEA candles in the freezer before burning them, they will burn even longer! Picture Frames: I love to pick up packs of two picture frames that hold 4" x 6" or 5" x 7" photos from IKEA. They come in black, white, and various colors, depending on the season. IKEA also has some amazing framed artwork and canvas prints from time to time, and several styles of wall clocks that make me swoon and dont break my budget! Light Bulbs: IKEA has a great price on most LED bulbs and usually has some really cool and inexpensive lamps/fixtures to go along with them. If you are ever in the market for LED strip lighting (color-changing, as well!) this is the place to find them for very cheap. Kitchen Utensils: I purchased a terrific nonstick wok from IKEA for under ten dollars and it has been one of my most well-loved and useful kitchen buys. There are also tons of useful kitchen organizational containers and jars; the small spice jars in sets of 4 are one of my favorites - these spice jars cost under $4 and are perfect for other items, too (buttons, beads, marbles, jewelry, bath salts, etc.). I also love the "as-is" section of the store, which can be found on the bottom floor close to the checkout area. You will find the best bargains early in the morning as soon as the store opens - I recently found a down comforter in perfect condition that was likely just a display comforter for just $9! If you are willing to hunt through the bins, you can find some stellar deals here. Also, if you are handy and enjoy DIY projects, you can find cabinet doors, shelving, and pieces of furniture that might need a little bit of TLC and refinishing but will be a great bargain once you are finished! Advice: Dont go to IKEA hungry! There is a cafe, but the food is not the most appetizing and can be crowded/noisy. Explore the upstairs first, then go downstairs! If you look upstairs first, you can see how the products are actually being used. If you are a "visual" person, this is a must! Have patience with items that you have to put together! Assembly instructions are not always easy to understand, but the good news is that if you google the product, you may even find a Youtube video or two which can be a tremendous help!

As a professional, I would advise extreme caution in making any major purchases at this store. The 5-star reviews are either the lucky ones who had an easy purchase, or theyre IKEA staff trying to balance out bad feedback. Really, a more effective way to do that would be to provide decent customer service. Hire people to answer phones and do some quality control. For creativity in design and low prices, I give it 4 stars. For everything else, its a 1 or 2. I used to love this place because you could get ideas and find good bargains. After recent purchases, I have to conclude its just not worth it. As others have said, the hassle factor of shopping here is off the charts. After negotiating their maze and with a lengthy wait at each stop - bins, checkout, pickup area - I was given the wrong color product. However, this was not detectable until the box was opened at the job site, because they dont label their boxes with color and product info. Wouldnt that prevent a lot of problems? After numerous calls to customer "service", on hold for long periods, they would not fix the issue. I had to drive the piece back 2 1/2 hours to return it. I know they utilize many procedures to contain costs, but when added up, the process becomes so customer-unfriendly that it actually comes off as hostility. The checkers wont even put your merchandise in a bag for you - really? Lazy. Young guys stand around the bin area, but no one ever volunteers to help a customer with a heavy item. You have to ASK. I agree people shouldnt give a low rating simply because the store is far away from them - but when you verify in advance that an items on hand and make a long trip, it is very frustrating to find its not there. With todays computer technology, its inexcusable to have such poor inventory control and online purchasing capabilities. How stupid is it that you cant pay for something over the phone or online with a credit card, then go get it? Lowes and Home Depot do it every day. I dont expect heirloom quality for IKEA prices, and I realize the self-assembly saves money. But there are too many other places where you can get bargain decor now, often at better quality and definitely with better customer service. The sole advantage of IKEA is that you can examine the item in person. Otherwise, Ive had far superior experiences ordering from Overstock and Amazon. Bottom line, from an unbiased source who regularly shops many stores and sites: any cost "savings" from IKEA, expect to pay for them in time and inconvenience. And if anything goes wrong, whether its a defective item or missing parts, it will be extremely difficult to correct. There is no phone number to speak with a manager or anyone at the Frisco store: that tells you all you need to know about how concerned they are with resolving customer issues. Dont say I didnt warn you.

The store is awesome! Everything you need in an organized fashion. Visually impressive but the quality is cheap to decently good. College students i totally recommend! First time goers: *Do some research ahead of time on the website. It will save a lot of time. *Charge your phone to take pictures. *No phone? take a pen and paper. *they have free paper rulers and pencils. *Go to the kieosk and make an ikea card. *If you like a piece of furniture take pictures of the tags. (Thats how you are going to find it when you are done) *Brings some muscle. They are heavy! And Big! *You have to assemble everything yourslelf. *If you are Planning to buy a:Desk, couch, table, bed or other big items... make sure your car is big and roomy. *You can rent a Truck from IKEA if your car is too small. But you have to drive it and bring it back. *They have people to help you in the loading area. *You can also have it delivered for $65+ regarldess of how many things you have. But you still have to get all the parts yourself from the storage shelves *Delivery: You can choose the time frame if you get it delivered the very next day... If you schedule anytime after...you will have to wait alllll day that day cuz you wont know when they will come. *You can still add things to your delivery if they havent delivered your items yet but...ONLY ONCE. *If you are missing parts or needing extra.. a staff can help you find them or order them. GET the order number tho! If they dont arrive u can order it again w/o the looking again. **IKEA outside the store service: *Trying to call IKEA? Good luck talking to a human within 45mins *Trying to get help by messaging them on Facebook? Well they will make you help yourself 50% and they will do the other half. *If you complain...they pretty much will ignore it and act like you never said anything. *If you are trying to order parts by messaging IKEA on facebook....(like the bullet above) They will ask YOU to find the part and give them the number. They wont bother to help you find the parts and confirm with you...even tho you give them an accurate description or exactlly what part you need..they WILL make YOU find the part number yourself. *If you are trying to find the part number(like the bullet above) It is easy. Go to the website.. find the name of the furniture. Scroll to the bottom. It says "Assembly Insturctions open the pdf. and Boom! the parts are all there. Also the insturctions manuel You can find it in seconds... IKEA is too lazy to find it for you. *Hope this helped! :) *Good luck!
