Always enjoy shopping here -- friendly, helpful, and informed people who really KNOW what theyre talking about. THAT is why I-and most everyone else goes there--to get help, advice, and products for an authentic outdoor experience. If you want cheap gear and dont care about getting any informed help, by all means, go to Academy or Dicks. REIs gear isnt any more expensive than the same gear sold elsewhere: and you do you get what you pay for. You wont find Gregory or Osprey packs, Big Agnes or MSR tents, Marmot / The North Face sleeping bags, Patagonia gear at Academy; yet, those brands represent some of the best in the biz. You need hiking boots for a backpacking trip to Patagonia or the PCT or the AT? Go to Academy and ask one of the associates which ones are suitable for your trip and ask them to fit you and let me know how that goes. One important reason I shop REI is this: they are a Co-op and part of the money I spend there goes toward my outdoor community support IN MY TOWN. The company is a steward of the outdoor recreational realm and goes miles more than anyone else in this business in our country to make sure that people like me can enjoy our natural resources. But, also, shopping at REI means I have a company that backs my purchases for whatever reason for up to a year after the sale. Bought some shoes on Amazon to save $15, but the shoes didnt fit right and hurt your feet after your first hike? Pack you bought on-line from Amazon doesnt fit right? Strap broke? Good luck with that. You wont get to return it. At REI, those are covered 100%. I like the security of that. One poster complained that she didnt get anyone to help her by standing around looking helpless. Heres a pro tip: ASK for help. Should you have to? No, absolutely. But, sometimes, youd be surprised how far a little question like, "Can I get some help with this?" will go. Dont be a wallflower, go ask. Didnt mean to drag this out so long. LOVE this store! The people who work there know their stuff because they have been there, done that. They climb, hike, camp, cycle, travel, and are uber-experienced at it. Some of them are certified instructors. Academy, Cabelas, Dicks, Gander Mountain (may they rest in peace, lol)? Not so much.

Brought my younger kids bike in for a "tune up", and to have a tire fixed. The job was to include an inspection and to go through it so she could enjoy it. I had my oldest drop it off. I went to pick it up. They chare 25 in parts and 75 in labor. Upon my inspection I discovered that the toe strap was broken. Did I just pay 100 bucks to fix a flat and bolt on a seat? What did I get for my money? If they missed that, what else wasnt checked? They didnt have a strap in stock. They did try to sell me a toe clip set. I have used REI for decades. I might continue to order products. I will not ever use their services again. I have used Performance for decades as well. They opened a store in Fort Worth too. They got the nod on the bicycle for my oldest child. They will get my service work, if needed, from this point forward. I should note that Performance did a simliar service for far less money, in the same time frame. I should further note that I worked in a bike shop as a kid, made a living on a bike for some rime and work on heavy equipment for a living. If I was in town I would have done the work myself. If I gave my customer a bill like that on a million dollar piece of oilfield equipment for that amount of work I would be run out of business. These kids need some direction. There is a huge reputation on the line.

REI is the place to go for adventure gear. Quality brands. So many helpful, knowledgeable employees at this store who are also caring, friendly and just plain fun to be around. I love that REI is about enjoying and preserving nature not killing it to hang it on a wall. Thank you to each of you who has spent so much time helping me get the perfect set up for backpacking, particularly Mary Hannah Banana, LightWeight aka Meagan and Mr Energy (KC). Thanks to Im a Hiker Heath for all your help with hiking gear and info as well as directing me to Altra Lone Peak and Austin for getting me fitted. These are my favorite shoes now! Thanks also to Ashley, Jon, Tony for all the bike knowledge and Cecily for getting me out for the test ride plus helping me get my first Tilley hat. Thank you "Wisconsin" for all your help with rain gear and ideas for bike-packing. Every time I leave I feel like Ive had an adventure and leave with so much more knowledge.

Went to this REI as we were passing thru town needing some boots for our English Bulldog, instantly upon entry a manager told us only service dogs were allowed. I was confused as they sell dog specific items by ruff wear which is designed for different dog sizes and we need to make sure to get the correct size as we were passing thru. Another young lady was very helpful and walked us to the ruff wear display and helped select the correct shoes. As I was also working on buying a sleeping pad and clothes due to this we decided that trying on clothes for myself and shopping would only intensify the negative friction already given to us by the front door manager. If you are selling dog specific items then why try to discourage a dog and his owner to find the right fit?

Went here tonight looking for new running sneakers. A nice girl greeted me and pointed me in the right direction, assuring me that the associate who was working in shoes would help me. I stood there for a long time looking at shoes, nobody would help me. The associate was talking with some people, I didnt know if they were customers or friends. But he saw me by shoes and just ignored me. Even when I looked right at him, nothing he just kept chatting with the people he was with. So I left. With no shoes. And walked by no less than 5 people behind the checkout counters doing nothing but talking and laughing. Not sure if this is standard practice but Im not really impressed with the crappy customer service.

This location had great service and a very friendly atmosphere. It is in a really nice shopping center that has a whole foods, blaze pizza and steel City pops. Overall a great experience at REI and the surrounding area.

Great location and staff. Yes, REI has great products and again ... I was treated very nice. Not the biggest inventory. Other REIs have more products. Cant wait to take some classes too.

Pretty helpful and knowledgeable staff, solid selection, very clean and very new. Pricing is fair and sometimes very competitive and they truly aim to please.
