Not even words for the experience I had in the wichita ks store. I have been a loyal customer from the day gander came to wichita. I cut up my card and wont step foot back in another one of their stores. I received a nice gander mountain vortex fishing reel for Christmas. First time I took it out to use it there was a factory defect and it wouldnt cast rite. I took it back to the store and explained the problem to the store manager. He had a whole list of why he wouldnt exchange it out. First was theres no proof it came from here, I told him it has your name rite on it, then I didnt have a service plan on it well I told him the box says rite on it 100% 1 year warranty, he says if I buy a $15 service plan he will exchange it. It was a gift with a manufacturer warranty so I wasnt willing to do that. I called gander corporate office and was told they would take care of it within 24hr and call me back. Never received a call so I called them back and was told it could take 48hrs and they would call me. No call so I called back and was told it would be taken care of and I will receive a call. This went on for a week and finally I called and told them Im done with the whole thing. They said ok lets get to the bottom of this so after being on hold forever I get transferred to the store manager that I had the problem with. He told me regardless of what I was told it is up to the store manager on how to handle it and in his words "Im tired of dealing with this so Ill exchange it out only this time". It did get worked out but look what I went through. I dont want to hear how this will be taken care of or we will look into it because Ive heard all that already and I got my problem taking care of because he was "tired of dealing with it" and I wasnt just going away!

Way over priced!!! If you find your ammo on sale then great. But as for clothing and of hunting accessories, they suck!! Cabelas is cheaper has better customer service and greater reputation . Also the crappy ass hype they caused with the .22lr ammo on sale as of Saturday 11/29/2014 was enough for me to probably never go back.. Was told by Donald that they would have 32 buckets of ammo for sale on Saturday. (limited one per customer) Of course i was in line early on Saturday. 30 mInutes before open we are told they have 30 buckets, ok there is still a chance. 15 minutes before opening, another wonderful little employee comes out and tells us that now they only have 26 buckets of .22lr. HHMMMM? they are not even open yet.. By the time the doors are unlocked, They have a printed sign on the door. attention!!!! only 25 buckets of .22lr available. WTF That is 7 buckets gone, Before the doors are open!!! Not only did the employees let people (who were together) buy 2 buckets at a time, they ran out, just as i was making it up to the front. I counted 7 people in front of me, convenient? So pack sand GANDER!!! you lost another great customer to your competitor. P.S As i was leaving, one of your own employees admited that they would never buy from the store they work for, I quote "even with the discount, they are still to expensive"

We have been coming to the academy here for about 2 years now. We have our annual membership. My boyfriend his mom and me are what you could say regulars. Everyone that works weekends knows us. We have always been able to go on the same lane. Today they told us we are not able to shoot together wed either have lanes on opposite sides of each other or wed have to switch out people. It also sucks we have to pay $7.50 for an additional person who wont be able to shoot the entire hour. I feel like we are being done dirty. This is something we have all enjoyed doing together and I feel like by allowing us to be in there together is hindering our bond time. UPDATE: I paid $7.50 and only got to shoot for 5 minutes. I am so beyond furious right now. Were not planning on renewing our membership. And probably wont be back for a very long time. Were also going to come up there and get a refund for our conceal and carry class. Im so disappointed in gander mountain.

I have taken a class, as well as shopped here. I was never treated different because I was a woman, which in a sporting goods store, is big. Waiting in line for ammo on restocking day and was 2 seconds too late for one of the ammo purchases I was looking for. A man had passed it, but had seen that I wanted it and so reached back and took it before I got there. But when I returned to the store a few days later, the employee recognized me and let me know that one more box was found in the back of the ammo I had wanted and missed out on. He felt bad that I had missed it and he went back and got it for me. Ammo, as everyone knows, is so hard to get now a days. The class I took for hand guns was very informative and professional. Great store, very friendly. Much more structure on Ammo sales than all other stores in the area.

My son and I went to the live range to get in a little target practice with my new gun. While shooting and struggling with accuracy, the manager of the department came in and briefly visited with me and my son on proper grip, trigger control, and sight technique. WOW!!!! That is what I can say. Chris ( I think that is the managers name) is awesome!! He took some of his time as he was cleaning the shooting bays to come over and help demonstrate proper technique. He suggested a few of the classes that are taught at the academy shooting area for us to attend. If you want some expert and professional help and training with your firearm, I can highly recommend Chris to fix you up and give you the confidence and security of owning a firearm and knowing how to properly use it. Thanks Chris for the help, Grant and Garrett

I frequent the Gander Training Academy range to practice and for the knowledge as well as the guidance of the instructors however recently when leaving the store I witnessed what appeared to be a Gander Mountain employee (tan vest) handling a customers handgun in the holster isle. This made me feel extremely uneasy as the customer hand drawn the gun from concealment. With a live fire range it makes no sense to be clearing firearms anywhere but the range. It is an unsafe, irresponsible, and dangerous practice to say the least as it puts everyone at risk. With a resource like the staff at the range its a shame that your sales associates arent better trained to properly and safely handle firearms. This isnt an isolated incident as Ive witnessed such things in the past as well.

I just wanted to give a THANK YOU to the instructors Mike and Chris at the Academy for their knowledge, hard work and keeping their students well informed on new things as they happen. They are always courteous, professional and are always able to answer any questions asked of them. Just as important, I know I will receive an honest answer in return and not just what I want to hear. I mostly work with Mike and Chris, but the staff at the Academy (Bruce, Moose & Ken) are a great group of people I know I can trust and feel safe with when I go in to train or just have a little time to work on things by myself. Thank you for all of your hard work and time. It is valued and much appreciated.
