Apparently it is not Academys policy to honor their own price tags so shop with caution. Ive been shopping with academy sports and outdoors for a long time at this point. But I have to say Ive never had a more disappointing experience than when I walked in their store about a week ago. I was shopping away and happy to be out of the house. When I got to the register to pay for my items the first thing that they rung up came out to be the wrong price. I reminded the cashier of the sale sticker price and she asked the lady next to her if it was supposed to be on sale. The lady said no so she told me that the mismarked price was what it would cost and asked if I still wanted it. She said she thought it was a return from another store. My problem is reguardless it had their price tag on it so they should have honored that price. Also, it says on academys website that they honor their own prices so even if it did cost less at another store they should have changed it before it went into their inventory. The lady looked annoyed about this and I didnt push the issue. I asked that she take it off. After she did I asked to see the garment and took a picture of it so I could look up the policy later. Then she rung up the next shirt. It also rung up at a much higher price. I reminded her again that this wasnt the price on the tag. (And I remember there being about 6 more of this same shirt being marked at the sales price) I thought "this came from your store you have a bunch of these marked this way". She asked the lady next to her if all sales items were properly in the system and the other women (I assumed sat this point she may have been some sort of manager) said yes. So she told me again that it was the higher price and asked if I still wanted it. I calmly said no and desperately wanted to leave the store. Then she said "and you can take a picture of this one too if you want to" to drive home the fact that she did not care what was on the tag. Then she rung up 2 more items that were academys bcg brand so they rung up correctly and even so after every item she scoffed "do you want this one?". I paid and took my things and left. I wouldnt want anyone else to get their hopes up for shopping at academy especially if you like deals. I found it ironic that they supposedly price match a bunch of places and even supposedly beat those prices by 5% but they cant honor THEIR OWN in store prices? And the cashier was rude and acted as if I was crazy and inconveniencing her for asking simple questions. And there was no one in line behind me. Ive worked retail so Im never rude to the people who do because I know it can be a struggle. But if youre having that bad of a day and simply lack empathy please stay home. Oh and dont ever expect Academy to do right by their loyal customers.

If the option was available I would add a negative star but it isnt...I went to purchase a weight set & the floor clerk offered no assistance, actually, she went to the back stock room to hide out....Then my son & I got the wt set asked the cashier if they took coupons but she was rudely interrupted by the manger, who rudely told us NO!! Then she rudely ask my son what was he talking about as if she didnt know....the coupon stated in store or on line...we made the purchase anyway...I got home, went on-line as if to make the same purchase & it took the coupon...i can only assume the problem was race, due to we were dressed in athletic clothes, just like the other customers....never judge a book by the cover...

Hunting, Fishing, and Camping supplies are great. Staff in those areas are great! This place gets 2 stars though because almost every single visit there is just one register(Customer Service register)open up front. It never fails that there are 3-5 customers in line, half of whom are returning items, and half who just have a few items to purchase. Whats frustrating is that every time there are also 2-3 store staffers standing behind person working the customer service register just staring at the customers waiting in line. Open another stinking register at some point. Check out takes forever and it is the only reason I visit this Academy location as infrequently as I do. Ive almost left merch and walked out.

We came in to look for a jacket and ammo. I got the ammo easily but we didnt find a jacket for my wife with the small selection they had. We looked around and didnt find anyone to ask if they had more so we went to check out and that is where all of the associates were and most of them were talking about their personal lives. As I went to check out, all our cashier said was enter your zip code after she rang up the ammo. And after that, she looked at another group of associates and kept talking about something else. Customer service is non existent and Ill drive to another store from now on if I need anything from Academy.

I needed assistance in the shoe department and after no luck in finding an employee nearby I went to the front and asked the guy cleaning the store for help. He had to go ask the only employee working customer service to call for help over the intercom. Nobody ever showed up in the shoe dept. I eventually dragged a bench over to shoe department to reach the pair of shoes I wanted. The girl up front had a long line at the customer service and no other cash registers were open. Finally found a manager on my way out and explained that there were other customers in shoe dept who needed help and all she said was oh ok Im sorry.

I went to buy a pair of Oakley sunglasses. The pair I picked out they didnt have. They tried to sale me the display that everyone has tried on and they were scratched. I asked them for a discount, Shiva the manager looked at me like I was crazy. She said there was no reason for a discount. The glasses were low end Oakleys I was just in need of a pair of sunglasses. Most places if you buy the display give you some type of discount. I did not buy the glasses I walked out. I drove a few miles down the road and ran into Dicks Sporting Goods and bought the same pair for $29.99 less then the displays at Academy!

Absolutely no service in the shoe department. There were many employees working in that area, but they were much more concerned with stocking than selling. Was there over an hour trying on shoes with NO offers for help. When I asked for help all I got were quick snappy answers or an "I dont know...", then back to their all important stocking. Dont go to this location unless you know what you are looking for.

They had a pair of shoes on display for one price (29.99) i asked about them and was going to get the pair and then they said it was mistakenly placed there. She had to undo a latch to switch them back that an employee would have to do then explained the shoes were 70 or 90.... So i left. Im not interested in getting bait and switched
