We happened to be in the Grapevine area for a family reunion on sunday May 25th. My granddaughter needed some tap shoes for a dance rehearsal that next tues. We knew the Tyler store carried a lot of dance shoes so we assumed the Grapevine one would as well. When we didnt find the shoes (or a space on the shelf where they would be if they were sold there) we asked for assistance. Never met such a group of employees who were so uninterested, with absolutely no affect. They had to go and ask other employees, who also didnt have a clue. They would walk away without telling us that they were going to look somewhere else or to ask someone else. I then had to ask if they could call the store in Tyler to see if they had some in stock. They certainly werent going to offer to do this. The tyler store had plenty of stock to choose from.

The five star rating is for this store not the website. I ordered a baitcaster reel and rod combo online. It came later than expected and was snapped at the top. The break was due to poor packing and not shipping damage. Needless to say, I was very frustrated with Academy. Rather than calling, I drove to my local store. Lupe was first person to meet with me and she was very helpful and nice. She introduced me to Ray who was incredibly knowledgeable about fishing. They took great care of me and had me out on the water that afternoon catching bass. Academy now has a customer for life thanks to these two people who were able to resolve the situation. I will definitely be shopping in the store and not online in the future.

Was checking out a rifle scope that I was about to buy and the alarm on the thing went off so an employee at hunting department came and it was so rude and asked me "dont touch the merchandise" (what a f****** joke) i didnt get his name (cause I was so damn pissed) worse store ever, will never buy from academy no more wich I buy tons of stuff from probably $10,000 a year no BS, the guy thinks he owns the store or something cause when I asked to talk to his manager he said he was the manager wich I doubt it cause no one would be so stupid to put a manager that dumb and rude to run a store, WILL GO BACK AND GET HIS NAME TO POST IT.

I come to this store at least once a month. Today the man in the gun selection was too into a gun conversation to acknowledge me. I passed by looking at the man and even came up to the counter and nothing. I literally walked the isles about 20 min and he was talking to whole time. Then a lady walked by the very end of the Isle further than where I was and he asked her if she needed help. I was looking to purchase a few items but ended up not doing so. Dont know what the deal was. I usually get sorry service here in the firearm section but I like the selection they have. I guess you cant have your cake and eat it too.

The people here are great, everyone is always willing to help you and are very well informed. The collection is great! I buy tons of stuff here from athletic wear, treadmill, skates, shoes, to camping gear. They have the exact same things as a lot of other department stores but much cheaper and their clearance is great!

The Academy in Grapevine was very helpful! I recently purchased a smoker from this location. The 2 stores closest to me did not have it, so I called in advance. This location helped me over the phone, held the last one until I got there, and even loaded it in my truck for me. Very friendly...definitely recommend!

I was looking for shoes and couldnt find anyone on the floor to help me, but one fellow headed to the back from a different area names Eric M. was more than willing to go out of his way to assist me and be thorough with verifying by calling the store to seek it out at one other store. I couldnt have left happier.

Everything seems way over priced in the store. I went to buy a couple shirts before the TCU football game, and couldnt find one cheaper than $30. They also will not price match at this store. I went to buy my wife a watch which was $10 cheaper at Walmart and Amazon.

Academy is one of those stores I REALLY want to like. The problem is that each location is so different, based on the staff. Ive had 2-3 good experiences here, and 2-3 very average experiences here - never a great one. Good variety, decent prices, but very big box.

The service at this location is great. I was buying a yeti cooler and wanted to look at every color and model up close. The associate Chris helped me take all of them down off the shelf without hesitation. I definitely recommend this location.

Awesomeness!! Shoe dept was packed w/ shoppers but I still got help fast. Did a price match, cashier wasnt sure about it but was super polite, manager was fast to respond. He did the price match fast. Great service Great quality Great people

Shoe department needs more attendants to keep it clean and help with getting shoes down off the high shelves. Their "sale" pricing is often not competitive with the internet. But, sometimes you have no other choice but to go to Academy.

Great Sports Store with better pricing than those other big box sporting good stores. They have nice sales and dont forget they have shoes and clothing as well. Good prices on firearms and ammunition. (Stop hiding the ARs).

These guys are ass holes. I went im there with an unloaded gun, in its case and they acted like i was seconds away from robbing the place. Ill just stick to the Arlington location from now on or go somewhere else.

Love the selection of clothing and equipment. Its a go to place for workout clothes and equipment. Great sales when addtl off on clearance. Only wish they ran more sales on name brands and offered coupons.

This Academy was just "OK". The staff there was indifferent and it was hard to figure out what the selection was since most areas were in a jumbled disarray (shoes/camping stuff). Meh.

Well stocked store with all the usual brands like Magellan and Columbia. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The prices are normal, and there is always items on sale.

Very decent sporting goods store. Carry supplies for nearly every sport imaginable. Only place I know of in the local area that sells live nightcrawlers for fishing.
