I am not giving one star to the shop in general, but rather one artist I had a bad experience with. I started emailing Chelsea Edds a little over two weeks ago trying to find some time to get a tattoo finished. The outline had been completed, but I needed to find someone to do the coloring (personal reasons). After sending Chelsea 3 large pictures of the tattoo she agreed to finish it. 40 minute drive for me and a hard time to park, but I made it. Right off the bat I could tell she really didnt want to work. She made a lot of excuses. She said well.....this isnt really my style......I dont have a brighter green......maybe too detailed for me to do.. I said OK we can simplify even though the original artist made the work big enough for the details intentionally. And what tattoo artist doesnt have a few shades of green? Weird. Truth is her boyfriend was there with her and she just didnt want to work.....at least thats what it seemed. She tried to pass me off to another artist, but by that point I was just frustrated. She just said she really didnt think it was her style. Fair enough, but I did send 3 pictures well in advance and she did say she could do it. Wasnt that hard. Just coloring in the lines. I heard good things about this place. Too bad. This girl was cheaper and had plenty of time...... maybe that should have tipped me off. Maybe I got lucky she couldnt do it.

I love True Blues shop! Its a huge shop compared to some others iv been into and super fun looking. Very clean/ sterile environment, awesome crew who seem to all like to work in each others company and always compliment each other on said persons work. Iv been going to Chelsea for almost a year now and she has done half a dozen tattoos on me and never disappoints me when I give her an idea she always knows how to beautifully execute it. I love our chats we have when shes tattooing me because it distracts me and shes always fun to talk to. She also is very understanding if youre fearful and asks how youre doing through out the session and genuinely cares about your pain during your session. Iv also been to Pat and Sarah for piercings via upstair true blue piercing studio and both are awesome and know what theyre doing, are very knowledgable and are totally cool with any questions or concerns.( Also very sterile). My experiences with this place have been nothing but awesome and I love going back each time! Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants ink or a piercing.

Woo hoo! Yeah, that’s right I just woo hoo’d but you have to excuse me I’m still all tattoo high from the ink that Jim at True Blue just laid on my arm! So here is my two cents. I almost didn’t go to True Blue because of a couple of the whiny complaints on this review site. But bored, new to town, just moved here from LA where I’ve gotten some tats from some big name LA inkers, I decided to check it out for myself. And on a Sunday night with only two guys working and a room full of people they both managed to greet me politely within the first ten minutes, yes, have a little patients people, it’s not Starbucks, they were focused on their clients, you know permanently marking their bodies forever…that’s where I want their focus to be when it’s my turn and Jim took time to sit and chat with me and then figured out how to make my picky mind changing a** find exactly what I’d been wanting for two years but hadn’t been able to figure out before. He inked my own handwriting on me, it was pretty cool! I highly recommend True Blue, Great Experience! Thanks Jim, Mel RN

They have done an outstanding job on each of the tattoos Ive gotten done here. Everyone is this shop has a great attitude. There is wicked art ALL over the place; it is a clean atmosphere; and its got a good vibe. There arent any imperfections in any of my tattoos, which could all be easy to mess up. I have had 12 tattoos done here by 3 different artists. Scott is for sure my favorite, but the other two were great. Hes just an awesome guy and a great artist. I wont go anywhere but True Blue. My tattoos have all healed fabulously. They work hard to give you what you want.

I was not very welcomed by a lady when I first got into the store. She seemed like she had a bad day or something. Anyways, the place was not very clean. When I first got there, there were empty pizza boxes all around that seemed that were recently consumed. When I asked for information about the place and the artists, this lady got really mad and wasnt very friendly. She seemed really pissed because I just wanted to have some background info of them. Did I mention that I had to wait like 10 mins before being attended by a person? There was no order at all.

Came to True Blue for my first tattoo after doing a bit of research online. Set up an appointment ahead of time with Cory after looking at his portfolio on their website. Had a great experience here. Cory was a great guy to work with and very diligent in getting my design just right. As a first timer I was impressed with how he explained the process. The shop is clean and cool and everyone there was friendly and accommodating. Very fair price too. Love my tattoo and would highly recommend both Cory and True Blue to anyone. Thanks!

I went to True Blue to get a few places of my ear pierced. Terrible decision. I ended up with a horrible infection in my snug piercing, called multiple times worried to get some advice, and they refused to call back. I ended up getting plastic surgery for my ear. I came back later to get new jewelry for a different piercing I have, but they were out of the correct size. They promised they would call me later in the week to check up, and never did. This place is incredibly unreliable and very unprofessional. GO ELSEWHERE.

Despite my extreme hesitancy about getting my first tattoo, everyone was really nice in answering my questions and reassuring me that I would love it. My friend and I were entertained by Jim (the artist) and the male receptionist for nearly an hour before I finally committed to the worlds smallest tattoo. Jim even had my friend time how long it took him to do my cross...a whole 16 seconds. Needless to say the whole experience was entertaining and I really love my tattoo!

Supposedly the best place to get tattoos and piercings in Austin, which many of my hoodlum friends have confirmed. I was thinking about getting a marilyn at one point and dropped in here to feel it out. The guy that was working that night gave me the complete low-down in the form of pamphlets and advice and left me with a much more firm understanding of what that particular face-hole would entail. I would recommend True Blue myself simply based on that professionalism.

I went to True Blue to get my first tattoo and Im so pleased with how everything turned out. The artist who tattooed me was really nice and professional (Chip?), and answered all my first-time-tattoo questions thoroughly and without making me feel stupid haha. my tattoo is exactly as I hoped it would be, and the only reason Im giving four stars is because their secretary was extremely rude and didnt seem knowledgable at all. Just ignore her though and go to True Blue!
