We stopped in at AJ Martin’s hoping to find a unique Men’s wedding ring. Their selection was practically non-existent. However, the owner happily informed us that having a custom ring made was a simple matter. After being assured repeatedly that the ring would be made according to our specifications and within our time-line, we placed a deposit. We were told to expect a call in a day or two asking us to come down and approve the wax casting. A week passed, and no call. Concerned, a call was made to the establishment. After asking the owner about its status and voicing our concerns about having it in time for the wedding, the owner began using terms like “Possibly” and “Maybe”. As you can imagine, we were not at all thrilled with this sudden change of verbiage. I reminded her of our time-line and her promise to fulfill her end of the agreement. At this point, the owner actually tried to make me feel guilty for expecting her to keep to her promise! At the end of the phone call, I was told to come down to the shop Wednesday eve to finally look at the casting. Wednesday came, and we arrived to meet a dirty and slovenly dressed individual. The owner informed us that he was the jeweler responsible for actually making the ring. He never made the casting. In fact he had no idea what we had ordered. Instead, he tried to show us several rings which had no relation to what was ordered. I had had enough. I asked the jeweler point blank if he was able to complete the project in time and in accordance with our design. Before he could answer, the owner chimed in stating “We don’t want to do it for you anymore”. She then once again tried to insinuate that her ineptness was somehow my (the customers) fault. I happily retrieved my deposit and vacated the premises. I would strongly recommend avoiding AJ Martin’s. That is, unless you enjoy being lied to and insulted.

AJ and Dustin are the best, and their selection is outstanding. My fiancé went ahead of me and picked out some rings, having hilarious and fun conversation with AJ and Dustin. When I got there, it was a fun experience picking out engagement rings. AJ was very charming. Dont expect a sweet old lady, though – she has some southern sass to her that made us laugh out loud multiple times. She and Dustin knew when to approach us with ideas or suggestions (all very GOOD suggestions), but gave us space when they could tell we wanted it. When I picked up the ring, AJ asked how I was going to propose. I told her my idea, and she responded, "Thats nice, but this is what you should do." And she was right. I changed my plan of approach and my (now) fiancé was totally surprised. Her idea was so good and I could tell she wanted me, a customer, to glean from her vast experience helping others in the engagement process. My fiancé eventually went back to get her ring resized (which they did within the price and time they quoted), and she ended up talking to Dustin for nearly two hours. She told me he was just so easy and fun to talk to, and had lots of ideas and opinions around weddings that intrigued her. Obviously she thought it was a blast to have stayed there for almost two hours. AJ and Dustin are sincerely the best. A GREAT price for the vintage ring I bought, and an incredible experience.

if theres one thing you get from this review, it is that A.J. Martin is hands down my "go-to" jeweler in Nashville. I stopped in one afternoon because a necklace in the window caught my eye (which i ended up purchasing) but then i made my way to the ring cases. i was looking at them thinking "WOW these are gorgeous.. if only they had diamonds in them so i could have one as my engagement ring.." and then A.J. said, "oh, but we do have rings like that with diamonds"... i swear my 23 year old self nearly had a heart attack after browsing through the COUNTLESS antique/vintage/art deco rings they have. I think i went back every day for a week trying to decide on the perfect one, and when I eventually was able to decide on a ring to make my own, they were so helpful in getting it sized for me! My ring being a 1920s piece, everyone comments on how unique and beautiful it is (which, i cant lie, its a pretty freaking awesome ring). Since then, i have been back to pick out my wedding earrings, bracelet, and wedding band. All of which are absolutely perfect. I can not explain how much i love this store. whether you are in the market for an engagement ring, wedding ring, or just a badass necklace or bracelet- this is your store. One stop shop. They certainly are my one-stop shop for all gifts :) okay, rant over. i love you AJ!

I just got home from A. J. and can barely contain myself! This place is HORRIBLE! Over a week ago I spoke with the owner about bringing in my wifes engagement ring and wedding band for re-dipping. On the phone i was told it would be a 2 day drop off and pick up, 3 at the most and that it would cost me $40-$50. I dropped the ring off last Wednesday expecting to have it back by Friday in time for my wifes birthday. Not only was it not ready but the woman that owns and operates the store was extremely rude and told me that I shouldnt have even expected it to be done by then. She was rude again Saturday when I checked on the ring, that still wasnt ready! I finally get the ring back today, a week later and 4-5 days past when I was told it would be done, and was then overcharged! The work done by and through this store is mediocre at best for the frustration and money it will cost you! Stay away! You, your jewelry and your money will be better treated and respected just about anywhere!

The owner is BEYOND RUDE. I went into AJ Martin to ask about sizing down my family heirloom engagement ring from the 20s. The very first thing that she said to me was that the setting was "total crap," then proceeded to bad mouth everything else about the ring for the next several minutes, until I finally had enough and left. But the most insulting thinig was when she asked how I aquired the ring and after telling her it was it a family heirloom and had also been my Mothers engagement ring, but that my parents had since divorced, she declared the ring "jinxed" and asked why I would even want it. Needless to say I was incredibly insulted, offended, and just plain hurt by this statement. This is not the way you treat potential customers. Considering all her nasty remarks regarding my engagement ring, there is no way on earth I would ever give her my business. Just a bad experience all the way around. I would highly suggest going elsewhere.

The lady who runs this store is awesome! I originally went here back in July to find an antique filagris diamond ring to give to my wife for our 10th anniversary. I found AJ to be very knowledgeable and friendly, and she had a great selection of stuff! This was a welcome change after visiting several other jewelry stores, where pushy salespersons tried to steer me toward a rather limited selection of "antique style" rings. My wife LOVED the ring and has worn it constantly, until a few weeks ago when the band cracked. This was not too surprising given it was from the 20s and she is pretty hard on rings(it isnt the first band shes managed to crack). I took it back in and AJ had it repaired good as new within a few days and free of charge. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a great unique piece of jewelry. The selection is great and in my experience it was backed by excellent customer service!
