I am absolutely disgusted that these SCAM ARTISTS somehow continue to receive business. I came to Belle Meade Jewelry & Repair after seeing all the positive reviews on yelp and on Google Reviews to have my Movado watch repaired. I had a watch with a dead battery replaced previously by a gentleman named Cody (who by no means is a reflection of this company. Cody is a fantastic employee) at this location. I was impressed by how quickly he finished the job and his character that I decided to bring my Movado watch which needed a battery and clasp replacement to be repaired here as well. BIG MISTAKE! The owner Scott said that at first hed try to clean it, to see if it would fix the issue, and it did not. He didnt charge me for the cleaning which I appreciated so I said go ahead and order me a new clasp. He said the new clasp would cost me $100 dollars. What stuck me as odd was that he didnt look up the price of the part beforehand, give me a breakdown of the parts + labor, he just said "mmmm, bout $100." I naively agreed to this dumb transaction as I had a previously pleasant experience with them and assumed that the price they were quoting me was fair. When I received my watch the clasp it was: 1) Not from Movado and 2) Nothing like the clasp I had prior. The clasp attached was a normal butterfly clasp and my prior one was a butterfly clasp with push-pins and springs. Scott told me that, "this is what Movado sent me." I paid him and left. In a small bag where he placed my old Movado clasp was a small piece of paper with the name of a company, "Cas-KerCO." a phone number, and an item number. After doing some research I found out that Scott did indeed LIE! This part is NOT from Movado but a watch distribution company called "Cas-Ker Company" out in Ohio. If you have brought your watch in here for repair chances are that it has been repaired by cheap parts from this company. I looked up the item number online for the part that has been placed on my watch...$10! Thats how much the clasp cost! I calculated shipping along with the clasp for a total price of: $30!!!!! I felt like an absolute schmuck! That means $70 for labor to place a clasp on that literally takes only 10 seconds to replace (I know it takes 10 seconds because I watched him do it in-front of me when I asked for my old clasp to be placed back on and for a refund). I continued to do my research and found the number of "Movado Group" the only group licensed by Movado to work on their pieces and distribute their parts and they told me theyve never heard of "Car-Ker.Co." I confronted Scott about this information and he immediately became defensive, as someone typically does once theyve been caught in their own lie. He then began to insult me, my intelligence, and insinuated that I didnt know how a business operates. He offered to refund me and replace the clasp, but...instead of refunding my VISA he WROTE ME A CHECK! I said, no, please refund my VISA! He replied with, "thats how we do business!" IF THAT ISNT SHADY THEN I DONT KNOW WHAT IS! Often times these crooks will write off these checks as a loss on their business and keeping the charge of the credit card on their books for tax evasion purposes. Im not saying that is what he is doing, but typically when there is no other explanation offered (and none was) that is often the case. Although I received a partial refund (I was not refunded the tax that I was charged on the watch repair) I will be reporting this business to the Better Business Bureau as well as to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance for deceit. My final recommendation for anyone looking to repair or buy Jewelry from "Belle Meade Jewelry and repair" is DONT! If you value where your dollar is spent, please do not continue to finance crooks who make a living cheating people out of their hard earned money. I will never come back here for any sort of business and suggest everyone reading this post to stay FAR AWAY! If you value your jewelry spend the little extra money and get it repaired elsewhere!

This past January, I brought in two watches for repair; a Citizen’s Eco-Drive to be re-sized and an older limited edition Kenneth Cole New York with a broken stem and possible battery replacement. I have been satisfied with my previous purchases and repairs so I decided to go back; however, this last visit did not deliver. Upon entry, the “jeweler” was assisting another customer. He was polite enough and assisted me once he was finished. After explaining the services needed, he told me that the re-sizing would be $27 (I later found that I was outrageously overcharged) and began looking at the Kenneth Cole watch. He reset the time explaining that the battery is good. While working on the Citizen watch, he said that there is a problem with the stem but that watch is not worth opening it to fix it…if it was a TAG than he would feel it was worth it. I felt a little insulted because I LOVE my Kenneth Cole and it was worth it to me. If he did not have my other watch in his hand, I would have left. Hindsight is 20/20. Within 2 weeks, the pin came out of the Citizen watch. I took it back but was told by a young woman that the “jeweler” was not in. As I tried to explain my issue to her, I felt that she was bothered that I wanted to complain about the bad service I received and could not take her attention from the work she was doing in the display case. She elucidated that I could leave it there for the jeweler but there will be a charge. Because my time was limited, I didnt want to waste it somewhere with them. Luckily I found a real jeweler that repaired Belle Meade’s mistake (free of charge) as well as repaired the stem and replaced the battery on the Kenneth Cole watch. Since they appreciated how I value my watches and jewelry, making a purchase while I wait was a no brainier. I suggest if you go to Belle Meade for repairs, make sure the “jeweler” feels it is worth it, he may fix it correctly the first time.

Long ago my mother and I haggled a dealer in Atlanta for a bracelet composed of many little parts including springs and what looks like parts of handcuffs because we both loved it on me. I havent taken if off much since then but it often falls apart under stress being composed of lots of pins. I have previously had it repaired by a local jeweler and his solution while functional was to get cheap metal (of a different color) and beat it to fit. The work done by Belle Meade Jewelry was higher quality than the original construction of the bracelet itself. They also came in cheaper so when I went in today with a rare watch that was more or less designed to have the band clasp fail from poor welding he let me know it would be way to expensive to try and repair. They helped me to find the really tiny serial numbers and gave me a good google string and now I am having just the band shipped over from Holland.
