I have stopped in this business many times since I work nearby, and every time, I have been amazed at the lack of service and professionalism. I had my wedding band resized there once, and when they cleaned it up afterwords, they buffed a part of the ring that was supposed to have a satin finish, to a high shine. Then in order to fix their mistake, they took the ring to a wire wheel to reduce the shine, except what they REALLY did was gouge and scratch the gold irreversibly. Another time, I went in to buy coin collecting books, and after standing at the counter staring at the owner and one other worker (who were staring at computer screens ignoring me) the police officer who is there to provide security, actually asked my wife and I if we needed help. Apparently that got the owners attention, who was then short and rude with us (and as another reviewer experienced, was told all of the prices were old, and not correct any longer). We went to Executive Coin in Stow and spent over $300 on coin collecting supplies. I now make the drive to stow every time, because THEY know how to help customers.

Went in today to offload some silver and purchase some new coins and have never seen such a bunch of unprofessional workers in my life. Instead of standing at the counter assisting me with finding what I was looking for, the old man sat at his desk shoving his mouth full of food while half ass answering my questions. I asked if they carried any Silver Canadian Maples and his response was..."I dont know, you will have to come back during the week, I dont know what we have". I also asked the price of a graded coin, there was no price so I asked them to look it up, I got the answer of "EBAY has them for xx amount of dollars"..... Cmon seriously, Ebay????? Apparently they did not even know what spot price was for the day. I asked if they would buy silver bars and their response was "Not unless its over 500oz" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! Worst coin establishment by far, I will not be going back. And knowing that this was a store that JM Bullion recommended that I check out, you will believe that they will be getting a report of your service as well. DO NOT SHOP HERE!

I couldnt find the place until I called with 10 minutes left to close. They explained where it was (right between Acme and Snap Fitness btw) and when I said I wanted to get a few coins checked out they told me not to come even though I was less than 2 minutes away. I restated that I was right nearby and said that I would be taking my business to another place--as opposed to coming back, and they still went with "dont come". They were not rude, but definitely not exemplary customer service either. I only had a few coins and they turned out to be fakes (1oz Krugerrands) but it would have been so satisfying to say Akron Coin missed out on if the gold had been solid. Based on the owners earlier comments to reviews, it seems like hes trying to establish a sterling reputation, but theyve still got a ways go from being just okay.

I went here, I bought a $10.00 world coin grab bag with 200 coins in it, I asked to look at them, and they told me no, thats for excitement later. I left got home, opened bag, and lo and behold, 200 1 peseta coins from spain. I called back and requested my money back and this is exactly what guy said to me: "Well young man, I can tell you this: That is what you get for buying Junk pieces of Shi* world coins, didnt you know they are not worth anything at all, only USA currency is worth collecting. We will not give you your money back, you should be happy I taught you this lesson for $10.00" They then hung up on me. This is the most rude company I have ever been to, and I sincerely hope that they go out of business. DO NOT SHOP HERE THEY ARE JERKS AND SWINDLERS.

Dont go here if your looking to sell your stuff they will rip u of big time. I started going here last year and have taken them around 3000.00 worth of jewelry thats the amount they gave me. So i had a 18k white gold earing with 25 diamonds set in it. And took to these scammers to sell they told me 50.00 I said no way could sell this beauty that cheap. So i decided to take this beauty to Hartville coin and SUPRIZE 120.00. SO THATS DOUBLE the amount so how long has akron coin ripping me off my 3000.00 I BET SHOULD BE 6000.00 I WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK NOR RECOMMEND AKRON COIN TO ANYONE

We have dealt with this store and family for over 15 years and have always had a positive experience. The family members are very knowledgeable, helpful and honest in their business dealings. Also it gives a feeling of safety to always see present a security officer in uniform. Before writing this review, I read through all the previous written reviews and was very impressed to read responses from the owners, offering their perspective of what happened. How many owners of businesses take the time and effort to respond to individual reviews? Very few.

I was very disappointed. I went in there to buy several coins. I had 12 items I was going to buy, when the girl behind the counter told me the prices were wrong. She claimed they were old prices, and there were just too many coins to keep up prices. Funny, she looked like she had all the time in the world. They do have an amazing assortment of coins. I hope they get the pricing issues taken car of. I realize with gold and silver prices changing, that keeping up on prices may be a chore. Keeping up on prices would put a damper on chit chat time.

I give 2 stars because I dont know if they give better offers for other items. I went in to sell 2 gold rings. They were almost new and had diamonds and a large ruby. (I know I am getting a price for gold weight only) Anyhow, they offered me $60 for them. I almost accepted the offer until another customer told me to pass on the offer. Im glad because I recieved over $300 for them at another gold buyer store and had the option to buy them back. Just my experience, but it says alot in my opinion.

i went there to have coined valued. an older man said only way they would appraise them was if we sold them to him. we were kinda strapped on time and needed the money so we agreed. a youger gentleman then cherry picked though them and picked all the valuable one out of the lot. he gave us the cash. i dont think he ripped us off, nonetheless, hartville will appraise them for free and i would take my coins there rather than be quazi-blackmailed.

My family were regulars here in the 90s. But the last time I was here, the old man told me I needed to leave after a while. I believe it was a case of mistaken identity. I hate giving businesses bad reviews and it sounds like Chuck wants to earn back my business, so Ive modified my review to 4 stars, as I have nothing but good memories of Akron Coin, with the exception of the last time I went. Thanks for the response Chuck.
