I have been buying dog food & supplies from Portland Pet Supply for over a year for my two dogs. I live in the neighborhood and want to buy from local owners. I will never buy from this store again. In fact I will report their shady practices to the BBB. They double billed me today and did not care about the mistake they made. He told me he had voided the transaction and that my bank account would be credited. He never voided the transcation and I ended up having to appeal their double billing through my bank which I won but not after several days of frustration. I spoke to the owner who told me it was the banks fault. He told me they over charge like this all the time and no-one gets upset about it. I must say that I was shocked that he had no remorse or remedy other than "go talk to your bank about it". I will spend my hard earned money with a store that cares about their customers post sale.

My all-time favorite retail store in Portland (and thats saying a lot!). For 21 years Ive been buying my pet food at family-owned Portland Pet Supply. They have faithfully kept our hand-written yellow frequent buyers card up-to-date--recording our hundreds of bags of dog and cat food. A few months ago I went in and found out Solid Gold no longer provides a frequent buyers program. The next time I went in the owners son (shamefully I dont know his name, and Ive watched him grow up) helped me to find a new food whose company DID have a frequent buyers program. I love going in to pet Cosmo (I Bite), getting my free treats, looking at all the colorful dog toys, and talking to the owners. Its a fantastic store, and now theyre open on SUNDAY! I wouldnt buy my dog food anywhere else. And we buy a LOT of it.

I recently purchased a flea collar (manufactured by Seresto) from Portland Pet Supply. One week later I had concerns that the collar wasnt working so I took it back to request an exchange or return. The store doesnt allow returns or exchanges on these items and this policy isnt posted anywhere so it is impossible for the consumer to know that even if the item isnt effective, they cant/wont help with a solution. Bottom line is Im out $50 and the staff, including the store manager could have cared less. There are too many independently owned pet supply stores in Portland for us to chose from, I will not be buying here again.

I have been shopping at this store and supporting it consistently for years. Unfortunately, I purchased a bag of freeze dried dog food that was bad, my dog got sick after eating it for two portions. I called them to notify them so they would remove the lot from the shelf so other dogs wouldnt get sick and the man on the phone (I believe the owner) was rude and acted like I was lying even though I had a punch card on file of all my previous purchases. Hopefully I just got a bad bag and other dogs dont get sick because he did NOTHING about it. I will be shopping down the street at Health Pets Northwest from now on.

Unfortunately my first time there was a terrible experience. Was in with the wife and my dog, was never greeted, tried on 3 different harnesses with my pup and still no help... we were the only customers in the store. The selection for harnesses wasnt even close to sufficient... the only XL was pink. Upon leaving I kindly said goodbye and thanks from the doorway and got no response from the associates who were fixated on their cell phones. Will not return and I try to support my local neighborhood boutiques.

I have shopped at PPS for about 8 years. I travel out of my way to get my cat and small animal supplies there because the staff is always genuinely friendly and helpful with out being pushy. They also do not sell animals. If they did I wouldnt shop there. The Oregon Humane Society has adoptable animals of all shapes and sizes. Other pros about PPS is the incredible variety of pet food and supplies. They are always happy to ship to the store anything you need. I have had chinchilla dust delivered to the store in days.

The store is family owned and the staff is extremely helpful and kind. Ive had a lot of trouble finding the right food for my sensitive dog and they lead me right to the perfect fit! He also has a propensity to chew up everything! Its been difficult to find toys that interest him and are durable enough to last. They suggested a few toys that have really held his interest and that he hasnt been able to destroy (at least not yet!). I think they are fantastic and I would suggest them to anyone!

My husband went there and they were about to close and the credit card he had did not work. They gave him some free samples of food so our dogs would not go hungry tell he could make it back the next day. Now that is good customer service as well a prof they really care about animals. They also keep free drinking water outside for dogs walking by.

Been coming here as my sole pet store over a year (sporadically for years before) and always had excellent service. They are always willing to help you find what you need and seem knowledgeable when I have questions about specific foods. And my dog loves that they always give him wheat-free treats. I just wish they were open later and on Sunday.

I have been going here for 4 years now and have appreciated the huge selection they offer. All of the workers are quite knowledgeable have good customer relations skills. The best thing is their prices which have to be the best in the inner southeast area. Highly recommend anyone to step inside.

We love Portland Pet Supply and buy Wysong Dog Food for our Labrador here. Extremely sweet, helpful folks and they are open until 6:30pm, which is incredibly convenient for those battling rush hour traffic to shop on the way home from work. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for all Pet People in SE. #PDXRLS

Helpful staff. They are very knowledgeable about the food products they carry. We adopted two boxers a few years ago and they helped us through the pains of finding the best food for their allergies. I do just wish they were open a bit later as hard to get here right after work sometimes.

These guys are great, if you dont have a pet now, go to the humane society and get one, STAT! Then shop at Portland Pet Supply for all your pet needs! The nicest family owns and operates this business, youll thank me later for 1- the new pet and 2- having the chance to shop here.

Nice and helpful staff and owner. I love the cute little dogs running around. I was expecting this place to be more expensive since its on Hawthorne but that didnt seem to be the case. They do not have things for small pets like rodents if thats what youre looking for.

Fantastic customer service, they really want people to leave happy. This place has tons of food variety. My cat has an allergy and its hard to find a suitable food. This place has multiple options and at awesome prices. Support your local pet shop :)
