I went to the store with the intention of purchasing a puppy. I had been looking for some time and finally decided to do so. I looked at the puppies from the outside first to see which I would like to interact with so that I wasnt having to hold more than one or two to decide. I waited about 15 minutes while one employee helped another family and the other seemed uninterested in me clearly standing there waiting for help. When he finally acknowledged me I asked to see one of the two puppies. He told me "no, only for actual buyers". I let him know that though his response was rude I was an actual buyer and I would like to see the puppy. After all if Im going to spend such a large amount I should be able to see the puppy before I purchase to make sure its a good fit as I was looking for one to train as a service animal. The employee again refused stating that I wasnt going to buy a dog and I would make the puppy sick. I questioned this, how would I make the puppy sick by holding it? He was so rude that I politely pulled out the money I had to purchase the puppy and explained that I was in fact there to purchase but that his refusal to provide service and rude behavior meant I would be going somewhere else. I went to leave still feeling upset because I really wanted to purchase but I just could not do so from a place that treats customers so rudely. I turn around and stop for a minute and see that the same employee has pulled a puppy out for a couple that has come up. I watched as they played with it for a second, put it back and then walked away. The sad part is that I saw the reviews before going and hoped I would have a better experience. I also saw the responses from the owner which are very unprofessional.

This place does not even separate their rodents by male and female (which is pretty much the bare minimum of care. They arent even doing the bare minimum). I went it to look at rats and they were all mixed together. After looking at them for a long time and hoping the candidates I picked were female we were informed that the rats were not for sale as pets because this batch had been sneezy. It would have been nice to know before I spent 10-15 minutes picking some out. There should have been a sign. But those sick rats were still being sold as feeders, which I cant imagine is good for whatever poor animal ingests the sick things. This pet center has been well known for a long time for not properly taking care of their animals, and its obvious by the review responses that the owners are immature and unwilling to take responsibility. I did not want to buy from here in the first place, but its hard to find pet stores with rats anymore. So thanks, guys, for making it easy for me to not purchase from you! I so look forward to the snarky reply as to why I am wrong, how my experience couldnt have possibly happened, and how it is in no way your fault because youre so perfect and I must have misunderstood the circumstances in some way. Its pretty obvious you have no respect for your customers and think they are stupid by the way you speak to people in the review responses.

They get their dogs from puppy mills and its quite disgusting. It makes me so sad to walk by and see all day these poor animals. One time I walked by and saw a puppy who was cold and scared, shaking, and clearly sick. He also had a big cut on his nose. Horrible business practices, they need to be shut down. UPDATE: the owner thinks that my review is a lie. Considering that I did indeed see a sick shivering dog with a cut on his nose at alley cat, and considering I have a friend who got a dog from there and her vet says hes got a lot of problems and was without a doubt a puppy mill dog, Im not sure how Im being dishonest. Shame on you! Pretty sure the vet knows more about dogs than you do, and if they say that his health problems are only health problems you see in dogs who come from puppy mills as a result of over breeding, Im pretty sure I know what Im talking about. What a bunch of low life losers who obviously dont give a darn about animals. Gross. You want to tell me that the vet is wrong about the dog purchased from your store, mr.owner man? Think again. You want to tell me I didnt see a dog shivering with a cut in his nose? Okay, next time I see an obviously sick dog in your facility, Ill be sure to capture it on video as proof, then. You need to get out of here with your puppy mill dogs, its sad and unethical.

I buy rats and care for them as pets. I have done this a total of 4 times from Alley Cat pet store and each time the rats were very sick and died a few days later. Currently I bought a rat a few days ago, named Dende, and he died after just a week of having him. They let me trade him in for a new guy and he was super healthy, that is until the next day. He began to struggle breathing and died that night. I understand that some rats get over-stressed from moving or food or just change in general, but this is unacceptable. You guys keep them in terrible condition, the cage smells and you keep the males and females together when they are able to breed. That is probably why mine are dying because they are inbreeds and when I brought this up to an employee there he said "Oh they can breed at this age? I didnt know that. We just use these guys for rat food." I understand in order to work there you dont need knowledge in rats but come on that is common knowledge. And when I brought Dende in to trade him in originally a lady convinced me he was fine, when he clearly wasnt. He breathing was raspy and he wouldnt eat or drink. Like how am I supposed to believe he is OK? So please people if you want a pet rat get it from a breeder and even if you feed them to snakes I wouldnt because they are so sick.

I, against all reviews and things Ive heard about this pet store, bought a puppy the end of April from Alley Cat. The puppy I bought was just over 5 weeks old, extremely young, and had supposedly been dewormed. Took my pup to the vet for his first check up the day after getting him and found out he had a severe case of giardia and round worm. It is July now and he is 4 1/2 months old, his infestation was so bad we finally got rid of the round worm but he is still battling the giardia. I was reimbursed for the first round of antibiotics I had to buy for my dog but now, 4 more rounds later, the owner seems to conveniently be ignoring me for my refund for antibiotics. Ive gone in 2 times and also called 2 times and each time the response I get is " Ill leave a note for the owner to call you"... well... this is TERRIBLE customer service in my opinion. A pet store should not be selling sick animals .. and if you do REIMBURSE YOUR CUSTOMERS... your health "warranty" is BS and your customer service is also just as bad I DO NOT recommend buying anything, especially an animal, from Alley Cat. Ps- to the owner I noticed you have time to reply to your Google reviews so maybe you should make time to give your customers a call.
