Most of my experience here was in the fish section, in search of a betta fish. I first noticed that this PetCo location has a very impressive and extensive variety of Bettas to choose from. It was actually hard to choose. Upon finding a male Betta that was significantly cheaper than the rest, and then noticing that it had a note on its container that said "adopt me!" on it, I looked around for a nearby employee to inquire about the fish in this special, labeled container. I immediately located the employee who managed the fish section of the store. She told me that she takes care of all the fish and she knew that this particular Betta had been there a long time and he needed a home. I thought that was so sweet and instantly made me want to adopt him, and I did! Not only was I moved by this employees attentiveness and compassion for the fish in her care, but also impressed by her strategy to find the "unnoticed" fish a home. Overall, my trip to PetCo was a positive one. I appreciated the ramp inside the store that is made for carts, but also worked wonderfully for my stroller too. However I do wish there was a ramp allowing access from the parking lot to the entrance of the store, without having to walk alongside the cars that are zipping in and out of the Clackamas Promenades parking lot. Still though, my experience with the store itself was an overall positive one. PS Our new fish is already so happy in his new big tank that, on day 3, hes already making"Happy Bubbles!"

We ARE the shelter group that provides cats/kittens at this location. We have amazing adoptions at this store and receive wonderful feedback. It is unfortunate the gentleman who wrote a review about FIP does not know the disease well enough to comment. FIP does not infect a shelter. All latest research shows it is not even contagious. It comes from the Corona Virus that up tp 80% of cats carry. There is no cure for it and so far no effective testing for it. Veterinarians and researchers have not been able to determine why certain cats get it and others do not. It inflicts kittens often but can also become active in adults. It is a horribly sad situation and we pray some day research will come up with details as to the why and how of this disease. Many vets we have worked with believe a large number of illnesses in cats that they cannot diagnose are due to FIP. It can present with a multitude of symptoms. All in all, the store, certainly, and not even our shelter has any control over something like that. This store seems to be a favorite from all the customers we speak with. Some drive out of their suburb just to come here for the service they receive! We HIGHLY recommend this Petco.

I went into look at the kittens that were there for the adoption events from the Pendleton Humane Society. I noticed several kittens had oozing bloody wounds from recent spaying and neutering. The kittens looked uncomfortable when held, most likely in pain. Several young children were allowed to hit and grab the kittens and no one intervened. When I asked to adopt one of the kittens, I was told to call a number on a plaque on the wall. I spoke to someone named Kim. She asked the standard questions but did not want to allow a kitten to be adopted to someone who works during the day because it would be alone. She had already asked if my landlord would allow more than one cat and I said no. She done tried to get me to adopt two kittens so they would have play mate. This was clearly in violation of my rental agreement but she did not seem to care. I have been a foster parent for many bottle baby kittens in the past. I have never seen this kind of mismanagement before. I hope that the owners of Petco will see this and stop supporting this shelter until they change.

This store is great, and definitely worth going to. As for the reviewer who lost a kitty to FIP, thats very sad, but FIP is NOT contagious, it strikes without warning, and can NOT be predicted. This unfortunate death had nothing to do with the quality of either the Petco, or the rescue that supplied the kitty. UC Davis has a good article that explains FIP, please google it. Ive been volunteering for this rescue for three years now, and the reason I work with them is their good policies and standards of care.

Adopted a kitten from this location in July of 2013. My kitten, Loki, died at 3 am, January 1st, 2014. Never purchase an animal, or take your animal into this location. Loki passed away from FIP, because the shelter Petco works with, is infected with it. We ended up spending nearly a thousand dollars in vet bills, and having to euthanize our loving kitten. I will never give Petco my business, and will advise every single person I meet, to do the same.

Was walking out and saw an employee from the grooming salon walking a dog out yanking it around. When the dog was peeing she was yelling at it to get out of the bushes (was not in the bushes) and she was pulling the dog at the same time. I would never take my dog to petco just from seeing this. I dont think i will ever shop at petco again now. I feel sorry for any dog that gets takin in to petco.

Fish selection is terrible. All they had were Bettas, Goldfish and 1 angelfish. Also, one employee told a customer that a Betta not only doesnt need a filter, but they dont like them. Really? A Betta really does need a filter. If the outtake is too fast, then put a fake plant in front of it.

They have what you need. Good Betta selection. And no, a Betta doesnt need a filter and dont like them. That is correct and its why they are kept in bowls. In the wild they live in near sludge with no currents. Just change the water and clean the bowl once in a while.

Tried two other competing stores first, and found the best selection of scratching posts here. Reasonable number of choices of cat food, rather than the overwhelming number in the bigger box store. Friendly, helpful staff. Ill come back here- thanks!

This location is pretty nice. Always clean and the staff are always super friendly. Only negative thing is they arent always in stock of my cat food (Natural Balance LID). Otherwise this is my regular store for shopping for my pets.

Just bought a harness for my new little guy as he kept pulling out of his cheaply made one. The guys working there were very helpful and very kind to my little Banjo. Tyler and his supervisor (not sure of his name sorry) were great

Me and my mom purchased a guinea pig here yesterday and it was good. We met a wonderful employee named Jenifer! She was funny and gave very useful information about guinea pigs! This Petco has great customer service!

Petco carries their own brand of dog treats and the ones my dogs love are not sold here. In fact they are sold at every other petco that I have been to, but not this one. Plus they have the worst parking lot ever
