READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW (Just not part of it - There are now 3 updates) ------- I used to go in here and buy quite a bit. The 5-star review IS padded! The store manager(s) - and Im speaking solely about the woman who wears glasses in the front of the store, pricing - shrugs-off any customers who complain about her pricing. She believes the place is an antique store: Truly believes it! I dont understand why the prices are so high. If one goes to the St. Francis in Fairborn, one can see night from day. I used to really enjoy the store in Kettering, but Ive hardly bought anything for about a year, when I used to buy a cartload! Most of the items on the shelves have been there for over 2 years, and with the prices, its not difficult to understand why no one leaves with something in their hands. The manager(s) must not completely understand how business works. Sad, because the mission is indeed good.--------UPDATE: [Added a star] It looks as if either somebody has read my review, or there have been enough complaints by customers. Ive noticed that the store has been extended, with dinnerware and glassware back on the shelves after a long (2 year) loss of such items. There is more of a selection of furniture, too. However, the prices fluctuate drastically between "horribly overpriced" and "great deal." Many items need to be eliminated in the store. They have been sitting for sale for 2-3 years and have not been (re)priced. Maybe the managers may think of having sales once a week, like Valley Thrift, Goodwill, or Salvation Army? Maybe???? ---- To the comment below "If you are complaining about the prices being too high either you are expecting to buy something to sell it yourself or think that you are always entitled to a "steal" when you go into a thrift store," YOU may want to go find the DEFINITION of a THRIFT STORE. Think before you type. Thrift stores arent for the rich.------UPDATE: Added another star (up to 4 now): OBVIOUSLY my review has been read by the managers. Gone is the manager above who believed in the "antique mall" mentality of the store. Yay! There are sales now. It is now the St Francis that I remembered 3 years ago, and I am happy it is. There are now more customers in the store. Im glad someone got the hint! -------UPDATE: Seems like the managers of this store are simply playing games with their customers. They are back to their old tactics of high prices on damaged items. The place has once again been rearranged, there are no sale items, and Ive now become frustrated. Too bad.

This place is way too expensive. If you read the sign on the front, it says "Estate Sales" on it, which should tell you something. I needed to get a dresser and fell in love with one here. Unfortunately, they wanted $150 for it and that was marked down from $200!!! Exactly one week later, I found the exact same dresser at another thrift store for 30 bucks. Im also tired of walking into the store and seeing printouts from eBay on stuff. If you want to sell your stuff on eBay, then create an account and do it! Im not paying $15 for a set of s&p shakers because someone asked for it online. Yes, I did say ask for it because the printout attached was for a closed auction that started at $15 and had no bidders. Ive also seen coats priced at $75 because they were vintage, the new Fiestaware for the same price you can buy it new at Kohls, canisters priced at $20, and records priced at $5-10 because they said Disney, when those same records arent worth a buck. Last fall, my boyfriend fell in love with a cute Snoopy figure in the glass case. The woman working at the register told us it was $50 because it was dated 1962. Guess what? It was a reproduction piece from a few years ago that was dated 1962 because it used that version of Snoopy. We bought it online from a collectibles website and paid less than half that with shipping. The prices are so insane that even the workers know it. I bought something a month ago that had two pieces with a price tag on each piece. The cashier told me that knowing the pricing of the store, they probably wanted a price for each piece, even though they clearly went together. I had her put it back on the shelf because it wasnt worth it. I found it at another thrift for much less.

Thrift Store or Antique Shop? Can this be called a Thrift Store? Of all the "thrift" stores in this area that I have visited, this one most represents a collectable/antique shop. Prices at least 2X high as Goodwill or Salvation Army. I found a small 7" scratched childrens vinyl record priced at $5. It appears that collectible expert who prices these items spends their hours searching on eBay for the highest "collectors value" rather than keeping all records at the same price. Personally, for me, this practice takes the fun and excitement out of thrift store shopping. There are antiques & collectible stores in town, but they dont have the word "thrift" anywhere listed in their name. Takes the fun out of finding a hidden treasure. OK, I saw an LP soundtrack to the TV show All In The Family priced at $10. Someone working here has to be searching on Ebay for individual prices to slap on these things. A suggestion --- before pricing, ask yourself the following question: would a thrift store shopper buy at this price? Priced too high, the idea of "thrift" quickly goes out the backdoor and its now an antiques & collectible store. For the record (no pun intended), all full length 12" LPs at Goodwill and Salvation army are priced $1 or less. I looked over my shoulder at a dusty end table from the 60s with the finish coming off. Now folks, this is something you wouldnt see on the antiques road show. The absurd high price made my eyes about pop out.

Its a pretty decent thrift store so long as you have a goal in mind for what you are looking for. I have bought nick-nacks to clothing to a dinning room table from there. You have to be willing to shop around, know what you want and what you are willing to pay for it. Somethings there are over priced for what they are, but I have found that to be true at all of the local thrift stores. It really just depends on what you are looking for.

Store had potential, but when I inquired about a restroom was told to use the one at Big Lots. We found several small items to purchase and other items of interest. But in all honesty would not recommend unless you have nothing better to do. The two stars are for being a Catholic thrift.

I quit going here quite a while back because it is so outragously priced, they deffinatly dont know what "thrift store" means, its a shame, used to be a good place years ago. There are too many good places to go in Dayton, no need wasting your time in here.

Friendly staff but Wow the prices here were way above what I call thrift store pricing. Just went in to look around and sticker shock everywhere I looked. Some things I think I could by brand new cheaper on sale at a regular store.
