People who give this store bad reviews need to stop and consider a few points. First of all, this is pretty much THE busiest pet store in the FM area. Its in the mall and they get customers ranging from parents bringing in their toddlers just to look at animals trying to prevent temper tantrums to serious saltwater enthusiasts. One customer below mentioned that the associate working wouldnt let them hold a puppy because he didnt think they were serious about a puppy and because the puppy had been out a lot that day. First off, you cant take it seriously. They have so many people come in just to waste time or calm down children, they need to learn to be discerning about who can take out animals, because being out too much is VERY stressful for them. Also, this is a mom and pop business. Dont get your knickers in a twist because its prices are higher than wal-marts or whatever. Also, they carry more high-end stuff a lot of the time. A reviewer complained a small bag of kitten food was $14, but they carry premium brands. I am in Pets R Inn 1-3 times a week picking up dog, cat and fish supplies, or just stopping to say hi to the employees. Almost all of the ones who work more than a shift a week know me AND my pets by name. They ask how Im doing, if a problem I was having has been resolved, and they genuinely care about my animals well-being. When I was going on a week-long trip to visit family and they were sold out of my dogs favorite bone, the manager immediately placed an order for more and an associate brought one in for me FROM HER HOME, ON HER DAY OFF, THE VERY NEXT DAY (her dog hadnt cared for it and chewed on it for about 10 seconds, so it was practically new) because she knew thats the only thing that keeps my naughty little chihuahua out of trouble. Id love to hear if some one at PetSmart or whatever did that for you, because that kind of service is hard to find. I bought my long haired chihuahua from them and they were super easy to work with about setting up payment and walking me through being a first time dog-owner ad he has not had ANY health issues. I wish people with good things to say were more motivated to write review than all the nay-sayers, because this store CERTAINLY does NOT deserve the bad rep they have on this page.

I was disappointed with my recent experience with Pets R Inn. I purchased a kitten here 2 weeks ago. When I bought her I was told I also had to buy a bag of the food the store uses because it was what she was used to and if we switched to another brand she would get sick to her stomach. She specifically told me that the bowl was filled in the morning and evening and the kittens were eating it steadily. So I bought the overpriced food ($14 for a small bag) along with the kitten. As we were leaving, my son asked another staff a question about the kitten and she said she didnt know because the kittens had just come in that day and hadnt even been there for a day. (makes me wonder how the kitty became "used to" a food brand in less than a day...) So we brought her home, and that night I watched her try to drink from a bowl. Very evident that she did not know how to drink from a bowl yet as well as was not used to eating solid food. She got sick to her stomach from the expensive food from the store anyways, and we ended up having to buy milk replacement for her from the vet and are slowly introducing softened food into her diet. Basically I felt like the store employee lied to me about the diet and condition of the kitten when I bought it and I wasted money on their expensive brand of food. I would recommend getting a cat somewhere else, or at least do your homework and dont just believe whatever the store employees tell you. I can tell you from experience that they at times just make stuff up and that could lead to dealing with a sick pet when you get home!

We purchase a toy schnauzer puppy on October 6th, 2014. We love him, and he is super happy and sweet. However, we spent nearly $600.00 on him at the vet after our purchase. He had giardia that would not go away! The poor guy had goopy, mucusy, bloody stools for well over a month, close to two months, he wasnt growing, but actually lost weight. I called the pet store to tell them about what he had, not even expecting any form of payment from them; I called because my paper work said to notify them if he was sick. The lady I talked to made me feel like an idiot for calling, and said they werent paying for anything. (Um... lady, I didnt ask for anything? I called because your paperwork instructed me to...) The lady also said, "well, he was always kind of sickly"... hmmm, whyd you make me pay full price for a sickly puppy? Anyway, we love our dog, though Im paranoid some other health issue will come up. We actually just had in him again for similar looking diarrhea .... the vet couldnt find what was wrong; x-ray showed nothing. I hope its not a life-long battle. Not very happy with my experience here. I will only adopt pets from now on!

I have had a great experience at Pets R Inn over the past year. I bought my Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise in January from them, his name is Leo. They let my boyfriend and I play with all his brothers, including Leo, to choose which one was right for us. They gave us all the time we wanted. All of the employees were a great help with any questions we had and helped us get what we needed for our new puppy. The employee that helped us the most was a huge help in anything we asked or needed, especially, as we were going to Florida a week after we bought Leo. She was so nice in offering of taking care of our puppy if we couldnt find anyone, we did find someone to watch him, but I thought it was awful nice for her to offer. Every time I go in the store to get Leo something or just look at the puppies, the staff is so friendly. I would definitely buy another animal from them! :)

This customer bought a puppy and 22 days later the puppy was diagnosed with Parvo. The incubation period is typically 3 to 7 days but can be up to 14 days. Every other puppy in the batch was fine but this one. We were nice enough to refund her puppy plus half of the vet bills, which we are regretting doing now after reading this review. Every vet I have contacted about this said it was caught after he left the store. There is no store that will cover parvo after 22 days, most will only cover it within 7 if you research puppy warranties. The manager knows everything about this virus as the store has been family owned and operated for 24 years. For this person to say the things she did obviously has no clue herself about the virus.
