This is a long review but I laid out my entire bad experience with National Pawn so maybe it will save other people time and energy. Stay far away from this place because they do not know what they are doing and they are extremely unprofessional. This was the first time I have been to a pawn shop but I gave it a chance based on the commercials. The customer service was awful from the moment I walked in the door. After standing at the front of the store at the podium (like at a restaurant) for a couple of minutes while employees stood doing nothing and talking to each other someone finally greeted me by saying nothing more than "whatcha got". The guy took me to the counter where now two people said nothing to me as they roughly handled the two Rolex watches I had brought in. I had one solid 18k gold Rolex and one stainless Rolex. One guy asked “what’s the deal with these?” I told them that they were my father’s watches who had passed away. I had no use for them since I do not wear watches and that is why I was exploring the option of selling them. They took the gold one and walked away from me while they tested the gold content on the watch. They huddled together with their backs turned to me and tried to block my view of what they were doing. They were doing an acid test to see if it was really gold. They did not ask me if they could do the test or explain the process at all (even though I had seen my father do this test when I was a child and knew how it worked). It was all very shady. The problem with this is for this gold test you have to scratch the item against a stone to get a sample of gold in order to test it with acid. They scratched an 18k gold Rolex without asking me if I was OK with it, they tried to hide the fact they were doing it, and left minor scratches on the watch from doing the test. This is ridiculous and totally unprofessional. They handed the Rolex back to me and said it was not testing as 18k and it was fake. I smiled and said OK because at this point I had seen enough to know they had no clue what they were doing and it was not the kind of place I wanted to do business. I did not bother telling them that my father was a jeweler and had purchased the watches from the authorized Rolex dealer he worked for so they were most certainly genuine and the gold one IS solid 18k yellow gold (case and bracelet band). I decided to handle the situation with tact (something they lack) and just walk out. I ended up taking the watches to a jewelry store that buys antique jewelry and they confirmed that the watches were genuine and the one was in fact 18k gold (which I already knew). I ended up selling the gold one to a real jewelry store and keeping the other. I would not dare go back to this pawn shop trying to present itself as a respectable business because they have no expertise at all and the customer service is non existent. I get better service at the DMV. National Pawn is awful!

I visited National Pawn @ 2751 Capital Blvd today (4/17/15) and was pleasantly surprised at the professional presentation and process that I witnessed and experienced. I had accumulated a small supply of gold jewelry that I was interested in liquidating. There was a mixture of 10kt & 14kt, broken as well as some (possibly) resalable items. In a time where its almost unusual to see men/guys @ church with clean white shirts & ties, it was really refreshing to be in an environment (and a Pawn Shop/Store) where those conducting business were polished and well-groomed....... and yes, the final deal maker was the amount they offered for the jewelry that I brought in. Between the environment and the offer, I had no desire to check elsewhere. I typically operate on a "trust but verify" basis. When people and the process are transparent from the start, youre able to verify along the way - and this saves everyone time! I would/will refer family and friends to National Pawn on Capital Blvd and plan to take my mom back to "cost-up" her gold pieces when shes ready. BTW, I am a woman and this was my first experience inside of a pawn shop and/or doing business with one. I felt very comfortable, safe and respected in this store & location. Thank you Alberto & Tom!

National Fine Jewelers (NFJ) hired a Rolex repair expert from Jollys who closed. To introduce him to the public, NFJ then ran a large ad in The Raleigh N&O offering Rolex owners a complete overhaul for $250 (normally $550). A Rolex overhaul includes a new crystal, stem, gaskets & seals, in addition to cleaning and calibrating. When I took my Rolex in to take advantage of this offer, the watchmaker told me the owner shouldnt have run the ad and that any overhaul he did for $250 wouldnt include parts. To my mind, this is "bait and switch" advertising. The manager, Tom Miller, showed no interest in making things right or honoring the ad offer. Since then I noticed that NFJ did run the ad again with an amended offer, but I had already left my watch with them for what I hoped would be a legitimate overhaul as originally advertised. I just cant recommend a jeweler you cant trust.

The first time that I ever came into National Pawn, I was a little bit hesistant at first; I had never been to a pawn shop before and I expected to be greeted by an eerie atmosphere. I was actually astounded at the amazing, welcoming atmosphere. I made my way to the jewelry side and was greated by a young lady by the name of Nichole. I have to say, she was God sent! I had been shopping around trying to find an engagement ring for my fiancè and boy am I glad I stopped by here! She was extremely helpful, and very knowledgable! She went that extra mile to explain to me the different kinds of ring and diamond styles. She was very patient with me as I asked a ton of questions. With all of her help we were able to find a ring that was within my budget and Id like to add, my fiance loved it! I would sincerely recommend her to everyone!

Honestly, I cant imagine what some of these reviewers are going on about, I hope they reviewed the right location. Ive been here about four times, twice to pawn items and twice to buy them. Each time I pawned, they were to the letter on their terms and even went out of their way to contact me before the pawn contract expired, giving me enough time to pay the interest instead of losing my large flatscreen. Was there yesterday to buy, and the manager as well as the associate that was advocating for me got me an excellent deal and provided excellent service, minimum hassle with haggling despite having the lowest price for the product Id seen anywhere. People on Craigslist even were selling them missing pieces for higher amounts.

I dealt with two people here. The first guy, unfortunately, was super nice but not eho I got to deal with. He passed me over to some pompous jerk in a suit. This guy was my age (30s) and looked down his nose at me. I was selling some gold and silver (curious as to what they paid). First, he didnt even offer me 90% of spot for my silver, which is more than fair. Then he kept questioning where I got my stuff, how long Ive had it, what I paid, etc. he was treating me like I had stolen it! He made me feel very uncomfortable with it all. I Would answer a question, then he would just hold my gaze for a LONG time, then say uh, huh, and keep staring. I will NEVER go back. Rude. And they didnt offer good prices at all.
