Unfortunately this is a place that is effectively pointless in the age of Amazon. I know this can be a hard thing to here for the book-lovers of the world. Fortunately, theres a place for used book stores out there. The problem is best exemplified through an example. I recently decided that I wanted to buy the encyclopedia of DC comics characters. I searched Barnes and Noble online and they showed this store had it, so I swung by during lunch. Unfortunately, I didnt know at the time that Barnes and Noble stores DO NOT match their online prices. A book that was 26 bucks (not including shipping) online was 40 in the store. Im not interested in giving away ~10 free dollars. I then look on amazon and see that it is $26 there with free same day prime shipping. I have prime so I ordered. It was there by the time I got home about 5 hours later. There was once a time when bookstores had unparalleled convenience due to being able to take the book home instantly. That time is over and B&N is going to have a tough road ahead if they dont get these prices a bit more competitive. Until then, theyre doomed to be a glorified library for those with no intentions to buy a book anyhow.

Your typical B&N. Staff seems to value the store and their job. Things are well-kept and the employees are knowledgeable. Last Christmas I purchased over $100 worth of books and the sales associate informed me I would SAVE money by paying the $25 to become a B&N member- and it did! I only paid about $80 after paying for the membership and the books (since the membership gets you discounts, it discounted the books I was purchasing) I really appreciate the input and am glad I became a member. However, if you go around morning time during the week: there are a few older people that like to come in and walk around and chit-chat with the workers. This is well and good for them but if you are in a hurry to get to work or something it is annoying. The employees try to be courteous to them but then you end up waiting for quite some time to be checked out. Considering there is usually one (and never more than two) lines open at a time this can be an issue.

This B&N is very close to where we live, so we visit quite a bit. As some people have mentioned, its not a very large store, but they do a good job with the space they have. Most of the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. The café manager is really wonderful; you can hear by the way he speaks with his employees and his customers that he really cares about people and enjoys his job. The booksellers are terrific; I have seen several of them drop whatever they are doing to help a customer in need of a book. Many of these folks have been at the store for years and years, and to me, thats a sign that the store is doing things right. The selection is pretty good; it would be especially nice if they could expand their selection of in-stock paleo and vegan cookbooks. It would also be nice if they could expand café offerings to include healthier foods. The drink options are fine -- but the food pickins are slim for vegan/paleo/low carb dieters.

Hey A, Complainers like you make everything in life look bland, boring, and negative. Guess what, all malls have busy parking lots and indeed, it is unfortunate that you and your son almost got hit, Im glad that didnt happen, yet blaming that on the mall instead of the careless driver (or pedestrian, which Im guessing is more likely the case with you) is a sign that you dont know how to appreciate the good things in life, picking at the petty and ridiculous missing out on the good things in life. This is a very nice location, it is beautiful and most of the time I go to the store I find a good spot to seat, enjoy a nice of white moca frap, and do my homework. The clientele is varied but usually includes students and couples of seniors who enjoy reading magazines together.

I generally like Barnes & Noble bookstores. They have books, they have electronics that facilitate the reading of books (the Nook tablet), and they have Starbucks coffee. What is not to love? Generally one B&N is no better or worse than another, and they are all pretty good, with some exceptions. This one is no exception. The staff are friendly and helpful, and we appreciate their manga selection, and of course, the coffee. (However, since the Starbucks is operated by B&N, they wont take Starbucks credit; they will take B&N credit if you have that, though.)

Of particular mention is their food service area. It was very clean, organized and (although I do not remember her name) was run by a delightfully intelligent and engaging young woman whose attention to detail on the coffee order paled in comparison to her ability to multi-task two other orders and field questions from the bookstore patrons. This was June 8, 2015 in the afternoon. I trust the manager will keep this employee.

To be honest not much of a paper book person myself however for some the people at this shop make me change my mind every time I come in. They are always so helpful and kind. They always help me find whatever Im looking for or the order it in for me. Which is usually the case because I read some older books the usually dont carry. All in all though they definitely have amazing staff and are always very helpful.

Tried to go in as the store was closing because of rain. Instead of explaining to us that they were closing, they basically grabbed the door out of our hands while we were opening the door and says very snotty "were closing" as they shut the door on my girlfriend and her daughter who was all excited about coming to spend her birthday gift card. Some of the rudest customer service I have ever seen!

I like to fill my head with knowledge and roam faraway lands fighting off the mongrel hordes. So Barnes and Noble is a great place for all of that. With a decent manga section and an ok coding department this Barnes and Noble installation is great. If you would like to sit down with your book and have a cup of coffee and a snack then this is the spot for you!

Good place to go if you want to see the merchandise--like a book, dvd or cd. Youll probably find a lower price on Amazon but this is a good place to view when you must. The coffee is ok and usually too busy for my taste. The location is convenient as it is at Crabtree just off the 440 exit.

Im torn, in that I miss the local bookstore experience that the megastores have pushed out of business, yet I love going into this store and browsing. The staff are always helpful when I am looking for gift recommendations. Ive also enjoyed meeting others at the coffee shop.

Crabtree Valley Mall should be ashamed to make their customers walk through and busy parking lot to try and walk to this store. I can understand to remodel but to make people and children walk in traffic is unacceptable. My son and I were almost hit today over there.
