I just moved to Raleigh about two months ago and left behind an amazing book retailer, Half Price Books. I had heard nothing but good things about Ed McKay, but didnt have a great overall experience there. Another pastor on staff at the church where I work recommended Stevens and I must say, she was right. I have never seen so many theology books in one place. They have a huge range of subject matter from the very specific "being the spouse of a pastor" to the more broad "prayer." There are some neat hidden gems in there too, such as a 1933 Book of Common Prayer that belonged to a major in the US Army during WWII. They also have a huge selection of cookbooks and classic literature as well. I had been looking for some Anthony Trollope novels to try out and they had a large selection. I am definitely going back! The prices are very reasonable, too. My only complaint is that the lighting is a little dim. I am not sure if it is always like that; I went on a rainy day and didnt look to see if there were skylights that would have made a difference. But really, that is the only negative. The manager is extremely polite and helpful as well.

Stevens feels like somewhat of a used bookstore Mecca in the Raleigh area. It boasts hundreds of thousands of times on nearly every subject imaginable; one could easily spend over an hour perusing the shelves. Though the sheer volume of books can at times make looking for a particular title daunting, you make find other treasures along the way, and popular titles often find a place on the front shelves. The bookstore also generously accepts books for store credit. Ive been going here for years and will continue for many more!

Tons of older books, also a huge Christian selection if youre into that sort of thing. Somewhat organized by topics, and they do have some pop fiction and such but nothing too terribly recent. Had about three shelves of Star Trek which was kinda cool. Pricing wasnt very clear and since I didnt find anything I was particularly interested in buying I didnt ask the staff for help. Overall it seems decent, just not the sort of used books I am into.

There are a massive amount of books here. Mostly alphabetical by author, but I had to ask were the sections were. Tons of super cool old books to paw (delicately) through! Some pop fiction type books, but not the latest. This is the place to go to find the book you cant find anywhere else, but also have books you can find everywhere else ;)

Awesome Store!!! The Rare Book Section has been professionally re-done with an ample amount of new stock! The staff are very friendly and the new manager Doug is very knowledgable and helpful. If you have not been to Stevens in a while you should visit now and enjoy a much more organized and well stocked store.

Nice book shop. Huge collection. A little bit expensive and you can get a lot of the books with less price thru amazon/ebay. The rule you should follow is: if the book is less than $4 then it is cheap. if it is more than that then there is a big possibility you can find it cheaper online.

Great Book Store! Hidden treasures are inside the store. The store has a friendly staff and a wonderful collection of books for someone in search of life enrichment. The store has gorgeous custom built book shelves and a cozy atmosphere. I think its so cool.

Poorly organized (stacks of books in general areas). Poorly staffed (only one person, and he seemed to be having a bad day). Poor selection (lots of books, most outdated or in poor condition). Need I say more...

Listing books they dont have, then taking several days to update their customer that they dont actually have it, and thats in light of their website saying that I have not just one or two copies but five!

Fun! I buy so much from them... but many of the books are old and not in a good way.
