Worst car purchasing experience ever and getting worse by the day. Price was negotiated through Costco and car was purchased at once on November11th for a 6 to 8 week delivery. No calls, no updates, sales person hides from us, then the sales manager ducks calls. Was told we will have the car the 1st week in January, the 1st week of Feb, then the second week to mid Feb, then by the end of the month in Feb no matter what, Well guess what, we are days into March with no factual updates and no idea when we will get our car. When we explained to Lisa the sale manager that my fathers car is dieing and what do we do if my father who lives at home along needs a car, she offered to get us a "good price on a rental". No loaner, no comp rental while we are waiting for a car that we paid in November! OUTRAGEOUS! She then showed us at 2:00pm customers folders from 2 cars that came in that day a 9am that were order November 8th and November 10th. She explained that they have not called the buyers of the cars yet as they had to "process" the car. Even if processing the car takes 2 days, they should have told the owners the car is finally in. Her defense of poor service only reenforced how poor they are. When I showed up in person by flying from FL to NY to see if I can make headway as to what is really going on, I was treated like a leper. They kept asking us to cancel our order. Is this what Subaru or Costco would want? I think not. Great car. Deplorable, dishonest and non customer-centric dealer. They should have their dealership pulled based upon this and other reviews I have found on the internet. Avoid this dealer at any cost. Other dealers willing to match prices with them. Dont say I didnt warn you!

Leasing a new vehicle... We visited many dealers (Honda of Huntington, Honda of Smithtown, Ford, Kia, etc.) and experienced everything from sales associates who didnt know much about the cars they were selling and some (Honda of Smithtown, in particular) who even insulted other (Honda) dealers, who were obviously leasing and/or selling the very same vehicle! What kind of "logic" is involved in THAT kind of enterprise, eh? Ford and Kia (for the most part) were what we expected: competent dealers with friendly associates! None of the bad things mentioned above happened at "Competition Subaru of Smithtown!" There, we received competent---no, extremely knowledgeable and friendly!--- assistance in leasing a new vehicle! Our experience at "Competition Subaru" was--by far!---the best experience we EVER had buying (or leasing) a new vehicle! Over several decades (let us not reveal too much of our "decrepit-ness," eh?), we bought new cars, never once considering to lease a vehicle. Well, the sales associate (Jeff Barkan) explained everything to us in simple English and treated us like human beings, not "car-hungry customers with deep pockets." It was very clear to us that "Competition Subaru" was light-years ahead of the others....as Jeff drove out in a brand new Subaru to help us get to the dealership to pick up our new Subaru, as friends and relatives werent available on such short notice to help us get there and drive home happy as two kids with ice cream cones and no homework! LOL Sometimes "being an adult" means getting back to "the basics" -- treat people like family and "the rest" is pure fun! We eagerly recommend "Competition Subaru of Smithtown!"

I purchased a new Subaru Outback this weekend from Competition Subaru, our Sales Person was Jeff Barkan. Hes knowledgeable, experienced, he knows his product, hes easy to work with, and hes very professional. When I make a major purchase such as a car, I do a ton of background research before I walk into the dealership, and I consider myself to be prepared, especially when it comes to getting a fair price. Jeff went over available trim styles and options, answered all our questions and provided information about the car that we needed to know. Perhaps most importantly, when it came to the final price, he gave us a number that he invited us to take anywhere to compare with other dealerships and he assured us his price would withstand any other challenges. After getting his price, in writing, and subsequently calling no less than 4 other area dealers and "building" my own car and comparing prices on websites including Edmunds, TruCar, KBB, and Thecarconnection, I was very pleased to find out that I got a great price from Jeff. There was no need to negotiate or haggle- he gave me a great price from the very start, and he knew it. There was never any pressure to close the deal. After the sale, Jeff readily made a few changes the day after I purchased the car because I decided to add a few features. Jeff, thanks for a great car buying experience. - Steve

I wish to commend Jeff Barkan for once again exceeding my expectations. Jeff is more than just the consummate salesperson. Sure, he takes all of the hassle out of the buying process. No longer do I have to worry whether Im getting exactly what I want or that Im receiving the best pricing. Those are all givens. But Jeff goes beyond all of that. He always goes the extra mile to ensure that his customers are deeply satisfied. Hes true to his word and genuine, and he always delivers. Today, I picked up my new 2014 Legacy Limited, the fourth Subaru that Ive purchased from Jeff over the past three years. Jeff managed to quickly track down the particular vehicle that I wanted despite very limited availability. I was debating whether to go with a different color or perhaps even to change the model due to my tight time requirement. Jeff wouldnt have it; he wouldnt let me settle. Driving home this afternoon in my shiny Venetian Red Pearl Legacy with Taupe leather interior, Im very glad that I didnt. I wouldnt choose to drive another vehicle, and I wouldnt purchase another Subaru from anyone other than Jeff. This buying experience was made very easy by Jeff and James Boyton (the business manager), and I know from past experience that Mike Coleman will take excellent care of my vehicle when it needs service. Sincerely, Jeffrey Williams

Cathy K was very nice to help me get my new Forester. She understood what features I really wanted so from beginning everything went very smoothly. It took me about 1.5 hours to get all paper work done for the first visit. When I picked up the new car she explained all things to me, like Eyesight, SiriusXM, StarLink, how to set the car info display, etc. The unfortunate thing is the car I bought has a malfunction detect glitch issue. All malfunction lights went ON when I drove it about 20 miles. Its not the dealers fault. Its Subaru manufacturing defect. Called Cathy. She took me to the service. Mary, the service manager, was very friendly. She asked a young guy to drive my car to their garage. 30 minutes later they figured out the issue, just a glitch, and would reprogram my on-board computer. 3 days later they did it. Mary had already prepared all my paperwork when I arrived there and treated me very warmly. But the tech who programmed the computer of my car made my floor mat dirty, very oily. I had to clean them by myself. They should have placed floor paper to prevent this kind dirty things from happening, like Toyota service does. Overall Im happy with my new vehicle. Buying experience with Cathy, service experience with Mary was very good.
