12/16/15 I took my 09 polaris sled to Island Powersports, 4116 Sunrise Highway, Massapequa, NY 11758 to get an oil change and to have them plug in to the ecu and update the software if it needs updating and look for recalls. When I dropped it off Dave, the service manager, was very nice and wrote me up a quote for 1 hr for the oil change but did not know how much time the computer would take so he didn’t include it on the estimate. I also dropped of my friends skidoo for repair of one of the hand warmers and I gave Dave the OEM parts that we believed would fix the high setting. On 2/22 I get a call from Dave telling me everything is done but they could not hook up to the ecu. Something about “they didn’t realize they didn’t have the program or cable or something for a Polaris snowmobile.” I became annoyed and told him that he should have known that and told me that when I was first there to drop them...because I would have gone elsewhere. Later that day I arrived to pick them up and was handed a bill for 1.5 hrs for the oil change. I immediately told the person at the desk (not Dave) that I was quoted 1 hr for an oil change and they could not even do the computer stuff. He said I had to see Dave. I found him out back and showed him my estimate he wrote up and the bill and said I want it to be 1 hr. He agreed to do it and called the man at the counter to change it. I then paid for both invoices for both sleds and took them. I hr later at my friends house we checked his handgrip and it was still not working on high. I called Dave and he said they checked it and it worked. He then said all I can do is bring it back but I told him both sleds were headed to VT. I said I would get back to him. A few days went by and I called Dave and was only able to leave messages. He never bothered to call me back. After speaking to my friend, I agreed to stop by there and ask in person to be credited for the hand grip work as I was in the area shopping for christmas gifts. I went to the counter and Dave appeared annoyed to see me. I asked him why he did not call me back he gave some lame excuse. I told him that I doubted they actually checked their work on the handgrip and at this time the actual tech who supposedly did the work, Rob, was standing there. I told him it was not working and he had the audacity to say it worked and he checked it before it left. This is when Dave got ugly…he went off on me as it was all my problem. He was very unprofessional and certainly not a good representative of the good brand of Polaris. The bottom line is: 1. Dave attempted to overcharge for simple work 2. Dave is unaware of the capability or lack of capability his tech has with a Polaris snowmobile 3. Dave became very rude when I called his BS. 4. Tech installed a part as per our request but never checked if the part solved the handgrip problem. When we brought the sled to a skidoo dealer in VT it was determined to be a different part so the parts we supplied Dave and Tech were wrong and it definitely never worked. The Tech probably just put it in and never checked and moved on. My friend then attended a recent Snoseekers club meeting there and actually spoke to the owner directly about this incident but as expected nothing was done. This was truly the worst snowmobile service I have ever gotten and I want our local snowmobile club, Yelp and Polaris to be aware of it. Maybe they are great with bikes and watercraft but snowmobiles…BEWARE!!!

I originally called and spoke to Graeme about the used 2010 Polaris rush they had for sale. He answered every question I asked and from there discussed coming down to buy it. He had me put a deposit it on it since Im from upstate ny. A few days later I drove down (3 hrs) and when I got there thats when things went down hill. Graeme was not there when I came in. All of the employees did not know what they were talking about when it came to the sled yet theyre a Polaris dealership. If you dont know your products you shouldnt be selling them. The sled was not as clean as I was told, the track was the original when I was told it had been replaced only 100 miles before. There were chips in the right side panel when I was told it wasnt scratched up. One of the managers tried to make it right by lowering the price $100. He then told me he never wanted this deal to happen, then why did you agree to it then? I tried to look over the sled as much as possible but again I believed them when they told me they serviced the machine (again theyre a Polaris dealership). When I got home (another 3 hr drive) I ran the sled and noticed coolant was leaking. Upon looking more closely the bleeder screw was leaking and missing the washer. Then there was a clamp that was never retightened (when they claim to have serviced it). There was an aftermarket exhaust that does not belong on this years sled it was meant for a newer style rush and all of the exhaust springs were missing. Hoping that was all it needed I ordered the parts (more $$ spent when it shouldnt need to be). The next morning I called the dealership and was told the manager would call me back when he wasnt busy. Never received a call from the manager but did from Graeme. I missed his call but called him back when I could, no answer. I have called every day since and keep being told that the manager is busy. Bad management is bad for business. Having fixed those things I decided to go along with the plans to go up north to go riding. Before riding out for the day I put oil (Barely any in the tank, I thought it was serviced) and coolant in the sled. Riding around for most of the day the sled was great until it went into limp mode and when I pulled over I found all of the coolant had leaked out but not from the bleeder screw or clamp. Now I have a sled that I need to take to a Polaris dealer near me to look at and hopefully find the problem. More money spent on a sled that was sold to me with the promise and charge in the cost of the sled saying it had been serviced. This has been the worst experience Ive dealt with and have seen from a company. I work for a car dealership company and know first hand how things work. Instead of ignoring my calls the manager should be calling asking what the problem is and what they can do to make things right. Maybe once someone from the company sees this theyll realize that Im not going away until this problem is resolved. My only advice from this is do NOT buy from this company especially if its a used unit.

My experience at Island Powersports was absolutely amazing. I have been looking to purchase my first motorcycle for a while. I went to several other dealerships, and I can say Island Powersports by far beats out the competition. It didnt even smell like a regular motorcycle shop. It was clean, fresh air, and overall comfortable atmosphere. They are not trying to steal your money. They are avid motorcyclists and want you to enjoy your experience as well. Out of all the dealerships, i definitely received the best deal here. As soon as I walked in a salesman, Danny D, greeted my father and I, and helped us right away. He was extremely helpful and since he knew I was a new rider, he helped me through the entire process from start to finish. The entire staff helped me with picking the perfect motorcycle, financing, and finding new gear. I left Island Powersports with a brand new motorcycle, brand new gear, and the assurance that if I need help with anything involving my new bike I can go there and talk to any of them. Not only was I excited about my new motorcycle, but everyone else at the dealership seemed just as excited for me. They established a relationship with me so if I go back tomorrow or a year from now, I know that I will have the same experience that I received this time. I brought my dad with me to help through the process because he is skeptical of all dealerships in general, but after being at Island Powersports, even he left with a great feeling about the dealership. Danny even came in on one of his days off to help me purchase my motorcycle once the financing got approved. I already told all my friends if they need to by a new motorcycle, ATV, jet ski, etc. they need to go to Island Powersports. They have my business for life, and I wont be going anywhere else for my future motorcycle needs. Big thanks to Danny and Island Powersports! I cannot wait for the weather to get better to go riding.
