Barnes and Noble at John R, Madison Heights, MI = the worst customer service I have ever received. And for those of you who really know me...you know that it takes a lot to make me complain. Thats all Im saying. :( Ask about their return policy before you purchase if you are not certain that you are purchasing the correct item. I purchased books that I needed for an exam and as it turned out they were not the correct items...they didnt have what I needed in the store and I was hoping that these books might work for what I needed (they are reference books). I took what they had so that I could find out if I could locate what I really needed and when I tried to return the books, they wouldnt take them...although they are still in the bag, untouched and exactly in the same shape that they were in when I purchased them...because its a few days longer than two weeks. Isnt that fantastic customer service? I was so impressed (not really...that is my sarcastic tone). By the way...when I told the manager "fine...I will keep the books and never spend another penny in the this store" her very friendly and customer service focused response was "ok" in a nasty tone. She was extraordinarily rude and I am surprised that this woman is a manager anywhere. I own a service business and I would NEVER speak to one of my customers that way. I now have $60 worth of useless books. But what I do have is an immense social network that I use for my business (linkedin, facebook and twitter). I will make sure that every network I am involved in will hear this story...including an account of their very fine return policy and their incredible customer service and of course, their concerned and caring manager. Thank you Barnes and Noble for nothing...from an unemployed person in Michigan (really...$60 isnt much money right? Until you are out of work for a year that is.). I really appreciate how concerned you are about your customers. You guys stink and I will never step foot in your store again. I had to give you a rating but you dont deserve the one star.

Sad to say this is the last of its kind in the area - a proper bookstore. This is the only place to satiate my kids reading appetite (apart from our local library). They grew up here basically every other weekend. The store is comfortable with seating spaces scattered around. Super helpful staff, even when they are super busy (especially holiday season). Their online store is pretty much related to B&M store - you can order online and have it picked up in the store; or vice-versa - out of stock items can be ordered in the store and shipped to home. CAFE on-site is awesome too, almost a full service Starbucks with beverage and food for purchase along with expansive seating area. On-site too is a shrinking music area, still a rarity to see in stores. Available CDs, LPs and select video (DVDs & BR).

Im really glad theres still brick and mortar places around. I prefer dealing with independent book sellers lie Schuler Books in East Lansing but theres no place like that within 20 miles from me so Im thankful for the B&N thats three miles from me. B&N also has a great selection of Linux monthly periodicals. Almost all the good ones are actually published in the United Kingdom and imported but B&N actually *carries* them! The selection is pretty good at this location as well for a variety of subjects. Borders actually closed the week before I moved to the Metro Detroit area a few years ago so, while I would prefer more independent book sellers, Im glad B&N is here!

I had to return a book today because I bought it and didnt realize I had purchased it previously. The cashier Barb was very nice and sweet. She and who ever else (I didnt catch the other ladys name) both had great customer service and were very helpful! They had conversation with me for a little bit about books and writing. They thanked me for coming in saying they hoped to see me again and to say hi whenever I came by. Great job Barnes and Noble for picking such great employees to have work for you!

This place is a quiet distraction from a hectic world. The staff is usually helpful. They have a small music section with some vinyl LPs. There is a good childrens book section. There is a small Cafe that serves baked goods, sandwiches, soup, and Starbucks brand coffee drinks. My only complaint is that the Science Fiction and Fantasy sections are combined and have shrank to make room for Teen SciFi and Fantasy.

Went there because the screen on my nook cracked. The young lady that helped me, Alyssa was very nice and was willing to go out of her way to try to help me. How ever we werent able to resolve my issue. I just ended up buying another nook . I think the store in general should have a better support system for there products. They just refer you to a website. Cudos to Alyssa though she was great.

We enjoy shopping here 2x a month to especially look for game and LP vinyl deals. They have a Starbucks café as well. The store is always clean, its spacious, and well merchandised. Sometimes it is hard to find an associate in the music section but theres always someone in the central kiosk. Its worth getting the annual membership for the discount.

Went there because we needed a student atlas and were looking to purchase a Fallout-4 book that was on their website for $27. Found out they wouldnt price match their own corporate website (it was $40 in store) so i ordered it from amazon for $24 and had it in 2 days.

This Barnes and Nobles is fantastic for its selection of books and other accessories. Even if you dont end up purchasing anything, its fun just to go in and peruse everything. They have a very large selection and I like that they keep their deals out in the front.

Its really nice to have one place left, where you can actually touch, see and read a real book. The comfortable atmosphere, the beautiful eat in area. If youre an avid reader, this the place for adults and children.

Excellent selection of Funko Pop! exclusive figures. You could tell the cashiers are under pressure to offer the discount programs and credit card and it did not seem like a friendly environment for them.

Adequate selection, although I did have to request missing titles to be ordered to the store. The coffee shop adds an inviting touch but otherwise there is not much seating or spaces to relax.

They always have a great sale section, which I love because full-priced books can get expensive after a while. Friendly and helpful staff, and a nice coffee area for guests to read and snack.
