The staff here are nice and welcoming, but some of them are not competent at all if youre looking for makeup advice or color matching. Ive just had the most terrible experience. I loved how they found what I needed, etc and they were very accommodating, but when it came to asking for a color matching for a foundation in a new line of makeup I hadnt tried, they did a worse job than I would have! I might as well just have guessed at what my shade would be online, for all the help they were. I told the employee who said she would color match me with the BareMinerals Ready line that I usually wear "Fairly Light" in other makeup lines from BareMinerals, and she swatched different shades underneath my CHIN, of all places. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, because I thought she knew what she was doing. Then she said my shade in this new "Ready" foundation was "Golden Fair", which I unfortunately bought because of her. When I tried it at home, I looked like a ghost, it was so pale on me - I looked online and it is exactly two shades lighter than what I usually wear in the other one, when Ready foundation is well known to run about 1-2 shades darker than their usual foundations. Because of that employees incompetence and my faith in her, now I have to drive ALL the way back and have them do it ALL over again, hopefully correctly this time. I shouldve known that her trying to color match me underneath my chin was ridiculous, but I thought these people knew what they were doing. Shes costing me time and gas money driving back and forth from this store to fix her mistake (2 hours of driving!!). If they cant color match people, they shouldnt say they can. Sephoras employees are clearly incompetent when it comes to being makeup savvy. Then on the phone when I complained, they tried to tell me that the shades I have in Original and Matte are incorrect, when Ive been wearing them for months already and know that they are correct for me. Very disappointed that I cant depend on them for advice.

I love this store but I am NEVER going back. One day I went in with money to spend. I has just gotten out of the gym so I was in my sweats. I went in and I needed help. Yes I get they were busy but there was two employees just standing there talking. I walked around and walked by them several times and was in the store for 20 minutes and NO one even made eye contact with me. So then there was a girl at the counter and she was just standing there staring into space and she looked right at me and then looked the other way. I finally said to her I have been in here 20 minutes and everyone ignored me. She ignored me so I had to stand right in front of her and ask her again if I could get some help. She rolled her eyes and said "we are short staffed". UM what are you doing I was so livid I left. Went to the Chanel counter at Boston Store and the lady talked to me right away. So I called the store and asked to speak to a manager. I told her what happened and that two people were just standing there talking. She defended everyone say well they were all busy. Then in a really snotty tone was like, "what do you want me to do about it?" I then told her that I had spent a decent amount at the Chanel counter that I was going to spend there until I was treated that way. I then told her that just because I wasnt dressed nice didnt mean I didnt have money to spend. She knew what I was saying and she knew I was right. I love that store but due to that experience I will never go back there I will just go to Ulta or order from the brands sites. I even went to another one in a different town and the girl was snotty there. It seems like thats their job requirement if you dont look rich dont waste your time.

I went there this past Friday for my first beauty consultation (the $50 minimum purchase one) and had an amazing experience. I was nervous to go because I didnt know if the information or makeover that I would receive would be worth $50 or even my time, but it definitely was. My beautician Emily was phenomenal. I told her about my acne issues, my dryness and irritation, sensitive skin, puffy eyes and my request for only vegan products and she didnt even bat an eye. She was a great listener, she walked me through every step of my makeover and gave me some fantastic products to take home. She made me feel like she was just an older sister giving me some makeup advice instead of a salesperson trying to get money out of me. I could tell she cared more about helping me feel and look better than anything else. Because of her makeover I looked like a rockstar, and because of the products I purchased under her recommendation and the samples she made for me of the ones I couldnt afford, my skin looks more incredible than it ever has before. This experience revamped my love for Sephora and I will absolutely be going back.

I recently had an appointment with Lirio at your West Towne Store. I was in Madison with my husband for a special evening including dinner and an over night at the Edgewater Hotel. I asked her to help me turn my eyes into evening eyes...seductive...beautiful...enticing. She was amazing! Not only did she transform my eyes but my entire look. She talked me through each step, teaching me and helping me understand how to accomplish this look on my own. She is sweet, kind, thoughtful, fully vested into her role as a representative of Sephora. She definitely knows her craft as well as helping me feel pampered, special, and cared for. I went into Sephora looking for the Cover FX drops and the tarte rainforest of the sea foundation. I was with my boyfriend and upon approaching the Cover FX drops, a worker walks over from another aisle to ask if I need help. I said no Im fine. There was nothing wrong with what she did, its just customer service, however then the security guard came from his corner and he was staring us down shamelessly. I felt so uncomfortable that we just left the store. I didnt leave the store because I was stopped from stealing. I left the store because your staff are extremely unprofessional and dont know how to properly do their job. I will NEVER shop at this Sephora again! Feel free to go here if you want to get treated like a damn thief and get watched by an old white man intensely

hands down the best Sephora Ive ever been to. Everyone on their staff is courteous and genuinely dedicated to ensuring you leave the store with exactly what you need. Instead of being pushy to meet sales goals, theyve actually saved me money in my purchasing adventures and gained my trust in the process. Theyre wonderfully knowledgeable and utilize the super-awesome technology within the store to take things to the next level. Ive gained more product knowledge and had better suggestions from the staff here in my first handful of visits that I did over YEARS at another location (out of state). Cannot say enough wonderful things about this store! :)
