LFR-April 2012 was our first visit. We had just relocated from RI, where I loved my groomer. I was nervous and so was D.O.G. I had met a woman outside the store who ranted and raved about how wonderful the people were...they were so nice and all that good stuff. I felt alot better, but it was just one person. I was surprised at how reasonable some of their toy products cost. I thought some of the food was high....but what do I know? I am here to talk about the grooming. I was escorted by a sales gal to the back of the store where they do grooming. I was back there with a few other dogs. One of the groomers, Michelle Costa stopped grooming a dog to take the time to ask me what I wanted. Whether she tried to upsell, I am not sure--but I wanted a regular groom. She was fine with that and said she would give a buzz in a couple of hours when she was done. I was informed that I had to pick him up by 5pm the latest as it was Sunday. D.O.G looked fabulous. He smelled clean and it was an excellent puppy cut/shave. Nails were trimmed nicely and evenly as was his coat and face. Michelle brought to my attention that his ears had not been cleaned in the past--and that there might be an infection. WHAT? I loved my groomer in RI. How can this be? I think the groomers in RI did a good job--but if you become a regular-- perhaps, they may get lax. The last cut he had was not fabulous. What I loved was that Michelle brought it to my attention. Furthermore, being new to the area--the gals at the counter where able to provide referrals for Vets in the surrounding communities. I was impressed and will go back again. D.O.G is a shih-tzu. $45 for the cut--which I thought was high for such a small dog--but I realize now that is the price in MA. They recommended ear wipes and treats that were reasonably priced and that he relished. I really enjoyed going there--as did D.O.G. Highly recommend.

July 2011 we went to our first "Puppy Kindergarten" class really excited. My 3 month old bichon who weighed 3lb.6 oz. loved to play with other dogs.. Once we entered the class, I noticed at once that all the other dogs were exceptionally larger than "Honey". One dog was kept in another part of the room because of her size. Marcia, the instructor told the owners to release the leashes and let the dogs "play". There was so much of a size difference that if any of these dogs jumped on Honey they would break her bones. Marcia was holding the lease of the dog that was unusually large, while all the other dogs jumped on each other. I heard a loud scream from Honey. All the adults close to her jumped up to find her, the screech was so loud. Two large dogs had cornered her behind a chair. I picker her shaking body up and left the class. Marcia came out to tell me that she had full control of the situation. I was to angry to even respond. There is NO possible way Marcia had control over the situation. They ask for the dogs breed when you sign up. They should have called me and said that the current class enrollment were all large dogs and was not suitable for Honey. Or they should have classes by the size of the dog. I heard some trainers have the dogs go off the leash one at a time and not all at once. Either way it was not handled correctly.

Terrible experience with a dog training class. I signed up in advance and paid for a 6 week training session. I was notified 1 day before it was to begin that only 2 people signed up and they offered a 4 week class intead to begin in 2 weeks. While I was disappointed, I agreed to the 4 weeks and arrived today to begin the class, where I met the other person and her puppy. The trainer had no idea we were coming in for a class and said she had somewhere else to be. She also said that the class should have been cancelled because it is her policy to offer a class to a minimum of 4 dog participants. The management did refund my money and apologized. I was completely struck by the fact that they said, "it wasnt our fault". Then whose was it? Very disappointing. I had always like the store before, however I will never go back now.

Great local pet store with a helpful and considerate staff. Prices are a little higher than you big chains, but there is some higher quality selection. The dog training was great, the instructor was helpful and informative. They will clip nails for free (but request a donation to local pet related charities).
